Don't forget, in Japan adoption of non related peoples was a lot more common, they became your siblings, nothing more nothing less. Dynasty was not as important in Japan as the West, or even China. Lineage is what was important, continuing the line, even if it was someone without a blood relation. But because of the non relation, it was more common for siblings to be attracted to each other, sex tends to come with that territory. That doesn't mean people wouldn't take issue with it, but it wasn't as big of a deal.
