Holy shit this is true. That describes Magi perfectly for example. The only female author that I can think of off the top of my head that pulled off a satisfying ending in my opinion was the author for Full Metal Alchemist.

I hope the dialogues are a bit better than what this chapter looks. It was always obvious that they won't be together, but you would think their separation would have a bit more effect on Akira. Her affection for Kondo was so fake at this point that the first part of the manga feels completely unnatural. You can't be so emotionally and sexually attracted to someone that you are using only as hobby, because you lost your main hobby. All you need is a friend, in these cases. You can't erase romantic love so easily, it's heartbreaking.

That was a very underwhelming ending. I didn't mind that they didn't get together, but the final chapter's presentation wasn't as satisfying or strong as I thought it would've been. I guess my expectations were too high.

Well, user, honestly in the volume 10 this is the only chapter where they don't interact. I guess the chapters 76/77/78/79/80/81 were already so bittersweet and heartbreaking, that actually it wasn't necessary also for the final chapter being like that. Plus, I bet Akira's sun umbrella is the one that Kondo have her as a present in chapter 81, and in her letter, she gave him the postcard about "don't force yourself to forget what you can't forget. When the seasons change, let's meet again." So, someday, they could meet each other again, even if only for a cup of tea. This doesn't change they have been precious for each other. This chapter is only an epilogue, even if I admit I wanted it a bit more emotional, but I all the chapters earlier than this were already heartbreaking.
