Everytime Ichigo has broken connection with the Franxx it is because of Hiro or if she thinks of him.
Hiro is only capable of piloting with somebody that he loves and pilots with 02 because he loves her which is stated in his confession. Piloting with her doesn't hurt if you truly love and accept her for who she is.
Ichigo pilots out of necessity to survive and to fight for Papa. Hiro states that Ichigo's kiss trapped him like a web and kept him caged up on the ground whereas he could fly freely with 02.
Ichigo's love for Hiro is confused and she is beginning to realise she loves him out of respect and like she would an older brother. Hiro does not need to rely on her so they would never be co-dependent whereas Goro needs to lean on her sometimes. She also loses her hairclip and has her "confession" interrupted by the stars. We can also throw in some flower symbolism if you want.
I guess it's not looking too good for the SS IchiHiro. There were high hopes at the start but it is now sinking and on fire thanks to relentless shelling and torpedoing from the SS Hir02. However the captain has been given orders from shitposting High command to fight to the death. They have no ammunition left after it all exploded in the Hull. Could just be that she's a super soldier than can reach the center of the shit and destroy wherever is there; and they just couldn't do it yet because her stamens couldn't last for the full duration of the mission.
