What is this and why is Dungeon Meshi not number 1?
I'll start dumping the volume covers for all the nominees, in the order of the results.

>Warera Contactee
Oh? Is that good? I think I've saw that in Afternoon, but I just glanced passed it.
>*2. 68 pts Warera Contactee [Seinen] by Rui Morita
>1. 78 pts Beastars [drama, shounen, slice of life, psychological] by Paru Itagaki
Anime when?
>*3. 56 pts Nagi no Oitoma comedy, josei, romance, slice of life by Misato Konari
>Beastars won
I expected Atelier since so many people wanted it to win. Guess I'll start reading Beastars first then.
I don't know, but it will happen 100% now. I wonder who would be a good studio for it.
Both are really good so go read them already.
>*4. 52 pts Dungeon Meshi [comedy, fantasy, seinen] by Ryoko Kui
This is like the 3rd or 4th time that Dungeon Meshi gets nominated. Anime when.
>wonder who would be a good studio for it.
None. Wherever and for whoever this goes to, they'll fuck it up.
just sucks that beastars will probably end really soon since the cat or bear rather is out of the bag already
This looks really...really interesting. Oh, and the girl is oddly cute too...
I don't know, if they get some really good staff members and the studio is decent, magic might happen.
It's only 1 volume, maybe someone will translate it, I've seen it get nominated in other places as well.
Good. I do not wish this to be over-length. That's the problem of way too many a manga.
No, the manga will definitely go on for a lot longer with the way things are being set up.
Oh of course I will. Just need to find some more time.
Liked it too.
You'll probably blaze through them anyway, they're both addictive.
>*5. 47 pts Fumetsu no Anata e [drama, shounen, supernatural] by Yoshitoki Ooima
I wonder how they'll approach this one when it comes to an anime.
That's pretty a cute conversation. Got any fancy pages in there?
After I'm finished dumping the covers I'll make a list with what's getting translations and what isn't. Maybe some new manga will get picked up with a little bit of luck.
Please do.
It’s a shame too because Beastars, while interesting, is fairly botched in execution at points. I don’t think the author knows the story she wants to tell at the end of the day.
>*6. 46 pts Runway de Waratte [drama, shounen] by Kotoba Inoya
Because you are so busy with
This manga is pretty underrated.
Like what?
There's three main stories
Murder mystery
Mafia Louis
Haru lovestory
What else is there? I can see them getting intertwined and end really easily
Better than your fanfictions
>*7. 42 pts Tongari Boushi no Atelier [fantasy, magic, seinen] by Kamome Shirahama
This manga's also pretty god damn amazing.
Maybe who becomes the Beastar who the manga is named after, and how this person will change their world? Plenty of story to go on.
Wew, this is actually getting that part animated, nice.
That’s not a high bar to fucking reach. Several isekai are better than the fanfictions I have never written but my unattempted writing ability isn’t something you usually use to act as the bar of standards to judge works on. Something can be better than something else and still be trash.
You know you want to translate it, anons. Do it.
The whole Beastars thing in the first place duh.
They set up that whoever finds the killer is going to be the next Beastar and there's a bunch of other characters vying for a spot. Plus with his whole stuff with Panda-sensei he's probably going to hand over the bear to his clinic instead of turning him over to the cops.
>You know you want to translate it, anons. Do it.
Piss, I'm interested but I've already got five other shit to work on. Maybe this user will fare better.
I'm ashamed that I only know five of these.
The rest are in good company, though, so I'd love to check them out.
Well 7 of them do have translations, so time to fill in the gaps, user.
>that part
Uncle Lewd's laboratory of joy?
>They set up that whoever finds the killer is going to be the next Beastar and there's a bunch of other characters vying for a spot.
And even then, this is far from the end game. More likely it's the very meat of the story.
>*9. 38 pts Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na! [adventure, school life, seinen] by Sumito Oowara
This looks kind of similar to number 2.
>11. 26 pts Yakusoku no Neverland [mystery, horror, sci-fi, shounen] by Posuka Demizu and Kaiu Shirai
kek
>Dungeon Meshit not first
I mean, Beastars is not bad, but Dungeon Meshi is on another realm of quality entirely
>*5. 47 pts Fumetsu no Anata e [drama, shounen, supernatural] by Yoshitoki Ooima
REALLY?! THIS MANGA IS NOTHING BUT TRAGEDYPORN-BAIT.
Yes, they'll do that much for sure and I really wanted to see the whole thing animated, so this will be great.
OH yeah... that. I think the real problem here is that the author has no idea how to write an extended intertwined story. She's too fresh, that one prototype story collection wasn't enough. Just 'Beastar' as a concept is too weak for all the other things she wants to cram into the story. Or maybe its just the editors who're fucking around.
I would've much rather just have had the story be about the love triangle and legosi dealing with being a carnivore in this world rather than have the author establish the world to such an extreme.
Eleven's a pretty good spot, it'll certainly give it more exposure.
it really doesn't deserve it though
Is Beastars really that good? I mean I don't even doubt this, it looked interesting the first time I saw it but I didn't pick it up yet and I can't really imagine what it even is about. Some parts looked like a mystery, others like normal romance stuff or similar things.
That's neat, because I have the exact opposite opinion. The whole beastar premise opens up the world more, letting it develop further and feel more fleshed out.
>10. 28 pts Eiga Daisuki Pompo-san [comedy, drama] by Ningen Plamo
Is this seriously any good? I keep on seeing it nominated and it really makes me curious about it.
I definitely can't translate, sadly.
When shit gets real, it hits you with a thump. I'm a big fan.
>gets reminded of the very premise of the manga and then responds with
>I just want something else
Them the breaks. Maybe watch Zootopia or something then.
Is this actually a decent fantasy for once that isn't even isekai or pseudo-game again?
>11. 26 pts Yakusoku no Neverland [mystery, horror, sci-fi, shounen] by Posuka Demizu and Kaiu Shirai
This one is the most popular out of the bunch and it's already won other things, plus it still has some nominations. It will probably get an anime announcement this year.
>isekai or pseudo-game
Hell no, it's just fantasy.
Stop
Anime would completely ruin the discussion of the manga
If that ever happens I'm moving to /tg/, for the sole purpose od discussing the new chapters there
Just look at MiA threads before and after the animation
It'll be a movie, isn't it? I'm pretty fucking hyped quite honestly, can't wait to see the arc in movie production values.
Oh what a tragedy!
Will it? Live action or anime?
Manga Taisho is mostly about newer manga. Dungeon Meshi has six volumes, but it has been running for quite a while, and its already a fucking behemoth selling half a million per volume. It doesn't need any promotion anymore.
Yes. Classical Wizardry or D&D setting. With cooking porn.
The start of this one was so good
Shamer the quality dropped, specially at that island arc, holy shit it was bad
I said this was the most popular one, but I'm retarded since Dungeon Meshi is actually the more popular one.
>This one is the most popular out of the bunch
Dungeon Meshi is more popular than it by quite a lot.
>Now the anxiety of a shitshow getting Beastars
>Now the anxiety of fucking furfags making Legosi porn
LEGOSI'S A PURE BOY. I DON'T WANT TO SEE HIM GETTING FUCKED BY A FUCKING RAINBOW SPARKLE DOG WITH A GIANT COCK
This one is actually pretty good
The art is great
God, every single one of these series looks interesting as hell. Thanks for dumping these, OP. Think I will start with a bunch of these the next time.
For once these are pretty great awards.
Yeah, I realized a bit too late. Sorry.
>selling half a million per volume
The mangaka deserves every last bit of it
Great art, some interesting concepts and characters. It's definitely worth the read, even if on the plot department it isn't particularly strong.
I'll make a list of what's getting translated after I finish dumping these. There are definitely some must reads in here.
>it'll certainly give it more exposure.
Oda recommendation
Akimoto recommendation
Ame Talk Show
Manga Taisho
It is my impression or TPN became a bestseller only with advertising help? Smart move. Just with CPs and ToC I dont think it would be selling even 150k in the first week. Shit, first volume sold 24k in the first 5 days.
DM is more popular
So happy this is getting a release in my country soon.
>Made in Abyss: Hōrō Suru Tasogare (メイドインアビス 放浪する黄昏, "Wandering Twilight"), will be released in late 2018 or early 2019
I'm talking about MiA in case you misunderstood me. I'm pretty sure that title alludes to the whole dawn thing and that they'll clear the whole arc.
Imagine all the Anons flipping their shit over the entirety of Haru's character
Can you please keep your autism contained in your usual places? Just a humble request.
Beaststars deserves the win. Excellent manga.
