everyone I know bums the film to no end but never bother reading the book. I hate the film to no end because its my favourite book growing up but the film just shat it out because the book didn't suit Miyazaki's tastes so he tweaked it to make Howl more princely, thus all the women I know wet their fuckin pants over movie Howl rather than ginger, Welsh Howl from the books.

Yea, but his attitude in the film is overall more princely. Like in the books he's rude, abrasive and lazy but in the film, from what I remember he's a lot nicer to Sophie more often than not and keeps calling her beautiful.
I'm not sure on the details but in the books he's always casting spells on his clothes to look nicer and to match his hair and persona for whatever town they might be staying in via the port gate.

Yeah. And Sophie actually had a magical power of making things happen. As in, if she said whoever wears a hat she made will be more beautiful in the eyes of others or meet a rich man or have someone fall in love with them etc. it would happen. And there was characters that never made appearance or mention in the movie, like Howl’s sister and the dog’s role was entirely different in the book.
