How do you feel about the recent resurgence of simpler and more animation-friendly designs?
How do you feel about the recent resurgence of simpler and more animation-friendly designs?
How long until japan start using cal-arts like art style
I prefer it for sonic but not really the other two
Like said. It looks great on Classic Sonic but it doesn't work at all for human-like characters.
This is the best look Sonic has had in years.
>recent
What?
>recent
>people actually think this Goku looks bad
Holy retardation
Read the whole OP before posting.
You could try reading the whole OP
b-but dude yamamuro is a god! i love dragon ball super art style!
lazy
Superflat was always a thing.
Ay papi
Yamamuro is garbage, I welcome this new Goku. Super shines best when other animators' work shines through.
sony is the only decent one
the other two are shit
Over what time period do you think simple designs were not used for the term "resurgence" to be at all appropriate?
>there are people that insist pic related looks good
It works well for Goku. He now doesn't look like a fucking action figure. Only one it doesn't work for is Satoshi, and that has more to do with his garbage redesign.
pic related is the best possible art style, the movie art is shit
>using harmony shots as an example
Meant for
>Sonic
It LOOKS good there, but if that's Hesse then you'll see way too much generic calarts in the animation
>Goku
Looks okay, I'd like to see it in motion more, an the background is going to have to fit. It's looks like shit against the normal background we've been seeing in the HD Dragonball.
>Satoshi
Pretty good, no complaints. Could have him look a bit older, but that's not an issue with the art. The character fits in with the rest of the setting perfectly and the animation is good.
>defending fucking Pokemon SM
Back to there you can wallow with the other shonenbabbies and circlejerk about how AWESOME Ash was in XY and how COOL it was
>you'll see way too much generic calarts in the animation
Finally someone's pointing this out. Hesse's calarts style looks like shit half the time. CD Sonic looked so much better, especially with the more curved spines.
have loved it since the digimon movie back in 2000 tbqh
All three of those look great. Anyone saying otherwise is a nostalgiashitter.
How is Hesse's Sonic not the best successor to CD Sonic?
consistency is the most important thing
That Goku doesn't look simpler than Super on a rough day. He just looks more on-model.
Sonic is western animated, and western cartoons have been oversimplified for like a decade. Not sure what Dragon Ball and Pokemon have to do with it.
>you'll see way too much generic calarts in the animation
>Hesse's calarts style looks like shit half the time.
This is a new kind of shitposting
esto es el fin
Don't get me wrong, it's the best since CD/OVA, but it isn't without its flaws.
because they're contrarians, user
let them be and maybe they'll go away
Anyone who thinks XY looks better than SM is going in my shitlist.
I wish they used more John K.-like designs, like how I wish the west used more John K. designs instead of defaulting to Disney or CalArts.
ash objectively looks worse, aesthetically speaking
everyone in SM looks fine but him.
Ash and every other character looks objectively boring in XY.
That has nothing to do with his designs that's just Kitano being shit at animation.
not really
Everyone is drawn exactly the same way Ash is.
It does you little bitch. I don't give a shit who you put in your autistic list.
>yfw some of the Goku vs Jiren parts have animation worse than this
XY ash's problem was that he had no personality whatsoever and he had like 3 stock facial expressions throughout the entire series
Goku looks great in motion with that style, neo-satoshi looks like trash but that's more a design issue than an art issue. Sonic looks great
Its not simpler, is just wabblier and unrigid.
kinda like some of teh animation on crayon shinchan that sacrifices good aesthetics for fluidity
I don't like SM Ash, but Goku and Sonic looks great there.
SM Ash is the cutest Ash
>ctrl+F Satoshi

how the FUCK DOES COWBOY BEBOP LOOK BETTER THAN 99% OF ANIMES THAT COME OUT TODAY
IT'S BEEN 20 FUCKING YEARS
how much did bebop cost to make? why is this allowed? not to mention no original art styles. the only passable anime today that has a generic art style is one-punch because you can just say it's parody
The design for Goku is like a breath of fresh air after Super
The day that happens I will stop watching anime
i miss berserk too
love it
What the hell do you mean by calarts and why are they a bad thing?
Either stiff family guy-esque animations or noodle limbs
