What happened to seinen genre? We went from stuff like Golgo 13 and Akira to...this?

Do Japan have a specific genre for big babies because this is where shit like this really belongs

Maybe you guys should stop to define a genre by its demographic. That would help

Komari while Hotarun watches in Candy Stores bedroom while Renge is in the other room watching Greatman

Maybe if you fucks actually buy shit instead of pirating, the industry would have the chance to produce more of the stuff you love?
Crazy idea, right?

I would self-insert as Komari.

Seinen is not a genre.
What do you define shounen and shoujo then?

Japan turned away from stale hollywood imitations and instead started creating the one thing they're best at : cute things.

>Japan turned away from stale hollywood imitations
KyoAni didn't.

Die teen

Seinen isn't a genre, it's just series aimed at an older audience than shonen. Adults don't need over the top action to stay interested in a series and escape from real life is something that is popular. That being said there's still over the top action series coming out, like Ajin, which is legitimately one of the better manga I've read recently. Witch Hat Atelier and Gingitsune are some other seinen series I've been enjoying recently, but the latter's not translated past chapter 11.

Akira was seinen. It was serialized in a seinen magazine.

Yeah yeah bait thread lol. But in truth. There’s a few reasons. As you get older and deal with actual chaos & adventure all the time you develop an appreciation for tranquil things like gardening, collecting, reading, caring for boring creatures such as fish, and watching CGDCT. ADHD brats can’t do that. Plus it’s a means of satisfying your paternal instinct by proxy so you don’t go baby crazy.

me

Fuck off shill.

>fucking end of august

>Akira was seinen. It was serialized in a seinen magazine.
I bet you think Tokyo Ghoul or South Park is seinen too.

As I've gotten older, I've lost my patience for these shows where nothing really happens. I tried to get into Yuru Camp this season, but it's just to uninteresting. If you like it and enjoy the iyashikei aspect or whatever, then more power to you.

Good logic there, retard

I think all the good mods left when hiroshima moot took over. The teenagers won. There's no place here for us old folks. Just look at that other reply you got. Straight up teengarbage.

>What happened to seinen genre? We went from stuff like Golgo 13 and Akira to...this?
Don't worry, you neo-Sup Forums cancerous fuck, this season is 99% shounenshit/battleharem trash so you can self-insert as "the awkward, fumbling teenager who will turn into the most powerful guy due to some hidden power that only he will inherit, and has a harem of bitches wanting his dick even though there's a ton more suitable, more masculine guys around!! fuck yeah!!"

Anyway I don't know why the fuck you even brought up South Park, it's completely irrelevant to anything here. And yes Tokyo Ghoul is seinen
>b-but it has battles, therefore-
Still a seinen

South Park isn't Japanese (and also isn't manga) and so the labels don't apply. Tokyo Ghoul was serialized in a seinen magazine and that makes it seinen. The only thing that has any effect on the label is what magazine a series is serialized in. Don't go acting smug when you don't even know the definition of what you're talking about.

All anime is for big babies, user

No need to mourn gramps, more newshits will come after me and they‘ll be much worse then me.

>tried to get into Yuru Camp this season, but it's just to uninteresting

I'm not mourning. I'm just being factual. I'm sure there's been people worse before you that didn't make it okay either.

Tokyo Ghoul is not seinen. That's like saying Dragon Ball is seinen. You're not making a lot of sense.

Well there's the big difference in that DB was in a shonen mag while TG was in a seinen mag. Content has no effect on what label a series gets except by people who dont know what theyre talking about. If DB was identical but in a seinen mag it would be seinen. You're the one not making any sense.

>there's a big difference
Yes. DB is highly more complex in plot so more suited for a seinen genre than shonen. The difference is silly though. Dragon Ball isn't a seinen as Tokyo Ghoul isn't.

But isn't it exactly when you get older you realize whether you want to waste time on something? After all these years, I have less patience for shows that doesn't try to do something interesting. As I said, I get nothing out of these "nothing happens" shows, but if you do, then good on you.

>actually admitting you're a teen
That said i don't really watch them but i know the reason why older anons would like it, just wait till you're older

Again, content doesnt determine label, the magazine does. If DB was in a seinen magazine it would be seinen and if TG was in a shonen magazine it would be shonen. Moving from one to the other isnt a rare occurrence and plenty of seinen would have no issue running in a shonen or shojo magazine.

Your underage is showing

>Yes. DB is highly more complex in plot so more suited for a seinen genre than shonen. The difference is silly though. Dragon Ball isn't a seinen as Tokyo Ghoul isn't.

I wonder, where do people get the confidence to spout so much shit in a subject they clearly have no knowledge about?
Where does the tone of authority come from?
