I'm still waiting for the Capcom Cinematic Universe. Hopefully Street Fighter and Megaman will come first.
Too bad the Resident Evil and Devil May Cry ones would be PG-13.
as in a unified cinematic universe?
Smash Bros the movie?
No. Unless you keep them all in different dimensions and only unite them for Smash Bros.
I prefer good movie than a sequence of loosely stitched mediocre ones...so no
No. Maybe a Mario Cinematic Universe, but Nintendo's various franchises generally stay separate except for Smash Bros. (which is non-canonical toward anything except itself).
The most ambitious thing I think they could pull off would be F-Zero, Metroid and Star Fox taking place in the same universe. If you're thinking of some big cross over SSB movie similar to Avengers they'd have to come up with a dumb reason to send them all through portals to the same universe.
Films based on Nintendo IP's could work, I think a lot of their games could make for entertaining movies (Pikmin would be my first pick). An interconnected 'Nintendo cinematic universe' is just retarded, though: just because Marvel did it and other companies are scrambling to imitate them, doesn't mean that Nintendo should as well. There's no reason for Mario to be crossing over with Pokemon, and no audience is going to be able to accept Kirby and Metroid existing in the same universe. These franchises weren't meant to co-exist in that way, and there's not much room for them to crossover like that.
Smash Bros. is a great concept for a video game. Not so much for a film. As a narrative, there's just no way that's going to work.
Like says, though, a Mario Cinematic Universe could be done.Start off with your main Super Mario films, and then spin-off with your Donkey Kong Country, Yoshi's Island, Luigi's Mansion and Wario Land films or something. There's more opportunity for crossover in something like that.
I think stuff like Metroid, Starfox, F-Zero, Pikmin and such could be done effectively though.
I'd think Legend of Zelda, Fire Emblem and Kid Icarus could be done as well.
I'm pretty indifferent on the subject though and don't really care one way or the other.
Would it work?
A Kid Icarus movie in the style of Medusa's Revenge would be hype as fuck.
No. It's best for Nintendo much less Hollywood NOT to join the asylum.
If we're talking Mario by itself, fine. If we're talking Zelda by itself, also fine.
Hell, I don't even think F-Zero and Metroid should overlap because the Federation in F-Zero's a bit more looser than Metroid's and villains are just cartoonish villains rather than genocidal ones. An AU Samus that's a racer on the other hand? Not a bad idea.
Hell no
No. I will murder you in front of your kids for even suggesting that.
>An AU Samus that's a racer on the other hand? Not a bad idea
If they ever decide to make another F-Zero, I always thought that this would be a good idea.
But kirby and metroid exist in the same universe?
There were other cameos in that game, doesn't really count for much.
After box office surprise that was Deadpool, I think there will be more R-rated films again in future.
I'd like to see a Metroid action movie.
Considering Miyamoto said several times he wanted to make Star Fox Zero a "cinematic experience", it's really only a matter of time before Nintendo goes the Sony route of making glorified movies out of their games (and then actual movies).
Star Fox WOULD make a fine movie, but no one would agree on how it ought to be done.
if it was an anime sure
No. stop with your weebshit.
...
>implying live-action can do Metroid justice
It could if it was made properly

Can Sony even compete?
I would unironically enjoy a Mario anime based on the KC Comics series, give or take a few edits.
Let's face it, shit like blackfaced Tetris people and Mickey Mouse hiding in Torpedo Ted's chamber would not fly.
you realize that all video games from japan are technically anime right?
heh.
no.

This is anime? I guess charlie brown is anime now.
Donkey Kong feels like it works more like a TV series than a movie. Even the Vs. Donkey Kong shit feels like it'd be better as a series of 5-7 minute shorts.
every video game is animated senpai that means that they're all cartoons and anime is the Japanese word for cartoons
it was animated in japan so its an anime
...
...
>Some episodes of Animaniacs are anime
>Some 80s cartoons are anime
>Some DCAU movies are anime
>Transformers Animated and Prime are anime.
...no.
>3d models aren't "cartoons"
>videogames aren't about it's art, but the gameplay it offers. If anything, you could argue that games have a part of drawing and scripting.
>Using senpai
Also, see this
anime is the Japanese word for cartoons so they're the same thing to begin with
3d models are cartoons just look at any new Disney movie
New Disney movies aren't cartoons. They are fucking 3D models in a child's movie.
What are you talking about?
20 Mario and Mario sports movies.
A Zelda movie.
A Fire Emblem trilogy with anime series.
A three minute short of Samus being raped while her suit is crushed in a trash compactor.
Yeah, I'd rather not see Nintendo get into movies.
so a cartoon?
No.
No?
Do you think that everything meant for children is a "cartoon", user?
do you even know what a cartoon is?
>anime is the Japanese word for cartoons so they're the same thing to begin with
So you're saying I can request Teen Titans Go in Sup Forums?
Sup Forums is autistic and we shouldn't have made 2 cartoon boards in the first place but you can use Sup Forums to talk about anime
car·toon (kär-to͞on′)
n.
1.
a. A drawing depicting a humorous situation, often accompanied by a caption.
b. A drawing representing current public figures or issues symbolically and often satirically: a political cartoon.
2. A preliminary sketch similar in size to the work, such as a fresco, that is to be copied from it.
3.
a. A usually short, animated movie or television program.
b. An animated character in a movie or television program.
4. A comic strip.
5. A ridiculously oversimplified or stereotypical representation: criticized the actor's portrayal of Jefferson as a historically inaccurate cartoon.
>animated movie or television program.
so something like this would be a cartoon
youtube.com
>Zootopia more closely mimics 1a than anything else.
Such a good movie.
Yeah, a cartoon based on the game itself.
I think you are a bit confused there.
where do you the assets came from?
Yeah, actually.
The usage of the term is already implied to refer to Japanese animation outside Japan and France. It makes more sense for Western culture to treat "anime" as a loanword more than something Japan uses verbatim.
So yes, you could call DBZ and JoJo cartoons by technicality and it wouldn't be wrong but if you're not a nip, calling something like Rocko or Family Guy anime is going to be met with curt objection.
From the game, of course.
You are making a cartoon using the 3d models from the game.
Any Nintendo-based movie is a bad idea, let alone some kind of fucked up universe shit.
everything in that cartoon was already in the game so they're both cartoons
Sfm allowed the creation of that cartoon using the assets from the game. That means both the game and the cartoon are made from the same models and shit, nothing else.
>Does End of the line have gamemodes, multiplayer shit or even player interaction at all? No. It's a cartoon.
>Is Tf2 solely based aaround EotL's storyline and lack GAMEPLAY(you know, what makes a game)? No. It's a videogame.
Maybe you want to think a bit more before you post, user.
maybe if you're a complete cinema pleb who happily ingests capeshit
nobody values cinema as art its just entertainment
Well, some people does.
But i doubt that people would be interested on seeing a film based on a Mario game.
We had enough with the Super Mario Bros movie, Op.
I think a Smash Bros cinematic universe would make more sense.
>Mario v Donkey Kong directed by Zack Snyder
Would you watch it?
only if they were pure cgi
Attention, everyone. I post from an alternate dimension. It's also May 5 2016 here, but we haven't had a comic book movie in years. However, I'm fucking SICK of video game movies
2005
>"Kratos: God of War" movie released alongside the game
>It's decent, I enjoyed my time with it, sells ok
2008
>"Metroid" movie comes out
>It's extremely well marketed and really fucking popular.
>Every fucking person in the universe is a Metroid fan now. Samus cosplayers everywhere.
>"The God of War" released
>It's pure kino, familia
>Leonardo Dicaprio's performance of Zeus is fucking masterful and gets only even more popular because of his unfortunate death
>"Donkey Kong" released
>It's trash, but still sells well enough. Everyone wants more Metroid.
2010
>"Metroid 2" comes out
>Fucking everyone loses their shit and goes see it
>Metroid is the most popular video game franchise of all time now, somehow surpassing Super Mario Brothers
2011
>"The Legend of Zelda" comes out
>Was one of the best selling movies before it even got on theaters
>Everyone crying from the trailers and shit
>Honestly, the movie wasn't that good
>"Super Mario Bros" also comes out
>It's a huge hit
>2012
>"The God of War Rises" comes out
>It's absolute trash
>Sup Forums and Sup Forums never stop fucking posting about the intro scene of the movie where Poseideon (played by Stephen Dillane) kills Hercules (played by Ryan Gosling) on a boat. It's 2016 and everyone still posts lines from that retarded scene. "This is a nice boat" is the most google searched meme sentence of all time
>Meanwhile, "Super Smash Bros" comes out with every fucking character from the past movies. Every actor is there and everyone loses their shit. It's the best sold movie ever as of 2016.
I lost track since then. I think we're at three Metroid movies now, two Legend of Zelda's, two Super Mario Bros, two Super Smash Bros. Plus they also made one movie for Star Fox and more recently Pikmin.
Oh yeah, I forgot. They tried making a movie about Nathan Drake called "Uncharted" back in 2013 but it was fucking terrible.
Now everyone on Sup Forums and Sup Forums is shitposting about the recently released "Kratos VS Drake", it's a pretty fucking silly crossover to be honest. But not as silly as the "Twisted Metal Squad" trailers, that movie is probably gonna suck.
Meanwhile, Nintendo has ongoing TV Series about Ridley and Tingle and Captain Falcon. I don't know when this bubble is gonna pop, familia, but I really want it to. Sup Forums is shit and never stops talking about movies no matter how hard the janitors try to move or delete threads.
>Samus cosplayers everywhere.
I WISH.
>Leo never won an Oscar in that universe
Feels bad, man
He won a posthumous Oscar for his Zeus role, actually. Who would have thought, the dude playing the pretty boy from Titanic getting an Oscar for playing a god.
