It's my first time playing this, what's a fun class to go with?

Every class is fun if you know what are you doing (and which kits to avoid).

For beginner, best choices are:
Fighter (Berserker kit) - can't go wrong with this one, very powerful, but can be a bit boring to play because you don't get many abilities in the first game (although the one you get is very powerful).

Paladin (Inquisitor or Cavalier) - similar to Berserker, with a bit more flavour and abilities, but weaker in melee combat.

Wizard or Sorcerer - a bit more challenging due to weak defenses early game, but becomes powerhouse later on and is still useful early. Pick Sleep, Web and Haste spells when available and use them, those are 2 strongest BG1 spells.

Ranger (Archer) - can't go wrong with archery in BG1 no matter the class, and this one excels at it.
