>Sony losing $250 on the 20gb and $307 on the 60gb
Holy fuck, I didn't know they were losing THAT much money.
Sony losing $250 on the 20gb and $307 on the 60gb
>PS3
OK.
>November 16, 2006.
Ok.
I guess?
Just shy of 10 years of age on that article there.
If anyone is wondering why both of the new systems rolled with bargain bin laptop CPUs, here's your answer.
No wonder why their entertainment division almost went bankrupt
>2006
This article was published closer to 1997 than the present day.
Now you know why current gen consoles are so bad.
Greetings from the future mate
Except there's no reason to put a 1.6GHz octa-core in a console. A nice quad would've been fine. The PS3 was expensive because it was non-standard tech, unlike contemporary launches.
>2006
>PS3
say what
Nope, a 6-core like the FX6300 would have been ideal. At 2.5 to 3 GHz.
The obvious point is the same price of production.
Maybe an AMD quad wouldn't have been fine, but it probably could've been. I5 2500s still rock out 8350s throughout quad-core applications, and probably whatever else has come.
teee heee
for future shitposting
should i leave it at PS4 or change it back to PS3?
>nov 16
Hi Sup Forums from 2006... I really do miss you, times were great all the way to early '08...
You better shut up if you know what's good for you.
Sup Forums is 40% redditors now and they are no longer told to fuck off if they reveal themselves
these are dark times
Change the HDD sizes, or it will be easy to detect.
Why couldnt they just leave all the parts of the PS4 untouched but change the retarded CPU back to the CELL.
>those damn sonyggers attacking all other fanbases
bitch i said "future shitposting"
it would probably be real easy to change it to any combination of the numbers in the text, what kind of hard drives does the PS4 have?
Because it was a pain to develop for it. That's why it had no gaems.
PS+ lol
hello slowpoke
Yay, I can't wait for more console wars over shit that's literally made up.
He's doing a thread about their losses in 2006 with the release of the PS3. Why do you respond like it's some sort of bait? He even says 20gb and 60gb models as well as "were losing".
Did I just go back in time?
>Holy fuck, I didn't know they were losing THAT much money.
No, you are in a future after that happened.
This is why 3rd party support is important, selling over 40 million units don't mean jack shit if people don't buy games to go with it.
If a $600 console is being sold at $300, you better hope 10 people would buy a $60 game to make up the difference.
Assuming PS4s are actually $800 consoles and are being sold at $300, that puts them $800mil in debt, you'd need approximately 13 million units of a $60 game to sell in order to make up the difference and I'm assuming Sony only receives 20% of the profits from 3rd party titles.
My math must be waaaaaay off though
The PS4 is not being sold at a loss since a bit after launch, which explains its lackluster power.
This right here is why we have the current underpowered 8th gen consoles. They were afraid of taking a hit like they did last time.
