Why is this person's opinion on videogames considered valid?

THE WATER TEMPLE IS NOT HARD AND IM GONNA PROVE IT

Dammit I was hoping his dumb ass would get the keys in the wrong order. Figures they would just use a guide, he is genuinely stupid as fuck.

>O M G Dark Link keeps blocking me fuck this shit
>still doesn't understand that it's important to use the shield

Validation is directly related to popularity, it's not about whose right.

Popularity contests exist outside of high school man.

Arin sucks at video games

/thread

Isn't the trick for Dark Link to not lock on? I know you can use the hammer if all else fails. Its a great boss design and I wish the Souls series had something similar (a boss that counters most attacks unless you forgo the lock on you've used the whole time up to now).

>you are now aware that the current generation of little kids will only experience ocarina of time through the retarded playthrough of arin and their perception of the game will be based on it
it feels kind of unethical to be honest

>his ocarina of time sequelitis has a 180 000 to 13 000 like to dislike ratio

>>Later on Danny reveals that he has been using a walkthrough

You mean 3 years ago everyone realized that theyve always been using walkthroughs you chump.

He should play the Master Quest version, everyone should know OoT dungeons like the back of their hand now.

Ego makes a great likelike

megaton hammer, biggoron sword, or just mash out spin attacks.

you can beat him "legitimately" but you'll take a lot of damage trading blows.

If they played MQ, they'd just be looking at their walkthrough way more often.

I don't know who this idiot is, but the original N64 Water Temple really isn't that hard. I've played it since being a kid and it's a hard as any other Zelda dungeon.

- Three switches for the water
- Go to the rooms you haven't been in yet
- Open the locked doors and kill the stuff inside.
Easy.

That is shit honestly. Lock on is not really part of the world or story. Like the camera itself it is just an interface convenience. It's the same immersion breaking nonsense as the memory card reading in MGS, so not appropriate for Zelda or Souls.

I wish I could remember what it was like for me going through the water temple. I did it as a kid and I never used a guide, but I can't remember if I was stressed over the temple or not. I should replay the game again.

>didn't graduate highschool

>isn't good at video games

>only talent is being a goofy flash artist

>now his opinion is held as an authority because people are idiots

>now we will have to spend the rest of our lives hearing about how much of a "TERRIBLE GAME" Ocarina of Time was.

JUST

I want to say something along the lines of "just because you're not amazing at games doesn't mean your opinion isn't valid", but Jesus, who needs a walkthough for this level? The only hard part is wandering around like an idiot because you forgot about the center room.

>muh immersion
It could easily be contextualized as a medusa enemy that turns you to stone when locking on.

>Why is this person's opinion on videogames considered valid?

because some people think he's funny
that's it

he starts by arrogantly claiming it's extremely easy cheesing (even though he just read in the walkthrough to use the hammer) proceeds to waste over an episode dying to it because he kept it locked on. Has to pause and cut footage to end up watching a video playthrough to know how it's done.

It's more the frustration and tediousness of the temple that makes people hate it. I mean sure, if you've played the game enough times, navigating becomes second nature, but the first time playing through I got stuck and didn't come back to the game for a good 2 years

None of that makes the temple any """hard""". The temple has ONE single bullshit moment, and that's the key that is under the floor inside the main tower. It's just way too easy to miss that one key, the rest is stupidly easy and If you're actually using your brain, you'll probably use farore's wind spell at one of the switches.

There's no authority on video games telling you his opinion is valid. Nobody is arguing with you.

I've been enjoying these videos but that doesn't mean I respect Arin's opinion about the game.

THE MOUSTACHE

I'm pretty sure there is no "wrong order" to get the keys.

The game is expertly designed so there's no way you can "get stuck" even though it seems that way.

One of the keys is just very hard to find and out of the way so people always miss it.

Y'know I don't give a toss what he says about the game, I never held it that high on a pedastal anyways.

My only problem is everyone is pointing out what he should do, and his mistakes, and instead of taking them, he puts on an 'annoying person' tone and makes it out like he's clearly in the right, when he's not.

Along with that, if he's so goddamn impatient and doesn't wanna sheild, at least play well so you don't die 4 times and waste more time then you would've if you'd used the shield.

This. I wouldn't automatically disregard an interesting mechanic just because it doesn't fit in the context of the world, that's just lazy.
You can find ways to make an interesting concept fit.

I really can't tell if people are just trolling, or actually defending this piece of shit game.

The thing I always fell for in it was the Dark Link fight door being behind the chest so when you enter the room you don't see it.

It's the key under the rising platform in the central tower. GameFaqs was flooded with people stuck on this shit back in the day.

>just because you aren't a guitarist doesn't means your opinion on guitar playing isn't valid

Oh god Liberalism and critical theory has destroyed the minds of an entire generation.

Why do people even listen to him at all? You only have to watch a couple episodes to notice he's a fucking idiot who doesn't even know that much about good game design even though he touts that as his forte.

I legitimately think you're correct.
It's not as if Egoraptor has ever done anything in game development that would make him a credible source, he just plays a lot of video game. But I bet a lot of people here do too, and I don't trust their opinions either.

Pretty much this.

He's an arm chair game designer that has some kind of mental disorder, like ADD, OCD, or some level of functioning autism.

The guy constantly contradicts his own complains, and is generally just a loud mouth that wants attention.

I won't lie, I was stuck on that key too.

>not just cheesing the fight with the biggoron sword and stanbing the ever living fuck out of him

I really like Egoraptor's voice.
I still use GG for background noise sometimes desu

>now his opinion is held as an authority because people are idiots
All because he made some okay points on 2D design backed up by humor. Honestly I thought his views on the Metroidvania games are bullshit as well. He focused on the level up aspect for being flashy fluff, but honestly you can beat all of them without even worrying about it and some of them even have an optional lv1 mode.
>Getting that immersed into a game that the actual mechanics bother you
That's just silly.

Yeah but this is Arin. Sidequests are bogus, who has time for that shit, amirite?

People like it and find it funny when he yells so he yells.
Yelling a contrary opinion is guaranteed views as well.

>wants a game that "feels like an adventure" not just point A to point B with a lot of waiting
>Thinks sidequests are bogus
What a dick.

I fucking hate arin but it also annoys me how danny keeps calling him shit even though if he was playing he would be 20x worse. Why is someone who isn't even a gamer and knows shit about videogame culture the host of a videogame show? When it was Arin and Jon they could literally pass the controller at all times and have fun. Now it's just arin playing and danny talking because danny literally can't play games.

Sidequests are unethical

To be perfectly fair, the water temple isn't actually HARD, it's just tedious.

No defending this guy or anything, but he's not technically wrong.

...

>2016
>Still being subbed to or caring about game grumps

It's shit user, time to move on.

I don't think anyone actually agrees with Arin on anything.

He's just a decent commentator. He knows how to keep conversation going so there are no awkward pauses. He does have too much focus on certain jokes though.

This entirely. Its not difficult on anything but you're first time.

just

Yeah that would be really cool. Also fun since it could actually kill you, unlike the weak enemies in oot. My complaint is that no reason like that is given.

A Medusa could tell if your character looked at her, but dark link should not know anything about a user interface.

His entire thought process doesn't make any sense.

In his OoT review he whines that the games have become too linear compared to older entries, then goes on to say that the game is too open and the player doesn't have a guided path or some other such horse shit that doesn't even make sense.

...

FAT

He should have swung at Navi or his targeting arrows should have been red instead of yellow or something to make it clearer.

Caring this much about some internet "celebrity".

Get a grip, people.

MY

I came to this thread because I thought we'd talk about the water temple, man...

THICC

OoT uses Navi as an in game explanation for targetng you sperglord. Also Link has a unique stance for targeting. The game has visual tells for the player that signify that Link himself has in world tells for what he is doing.

I watch JonTron.

Really? It's pretty fucking basic, I don't know where the water temple is hard maymay came form.

>implying anyone takes his opinion seriously

Ever read the average comments section of a Game Grumps video? It's mostly a bunch of "Arin sucks at video games" quips. He is basically DSP if DSP tried his hand at intentional comedy

I know, I posted thisI didn't say I wanted advice for a nearly 20 year old game.

Literally too stupid to read yet considers himself some sort of game design guru. Fucking youtube man.

Is this some kind of collaborative effort between people on Youtube? Between DSP and this I am seriously losing faith in humanity here.

Least you didn't watch the compilation of his Wind Waker. Made it haflway through the video on a bet and every 2-3 minutes I wanted to throttle the dipshit.

Is that a pic of Suzy?

My. God.

Watching that is the most painful thing I ever did.

there's so much God. Damn. WAITING IN OCARINA

This. Tfw my good friend hates Sonic Adventure now because of him.

...

Yeah, if you're a scrub.

Lizalfos and Stalfos are nothing when you mix in those sweet backflips and jump attacks.

That's one thing I'm both sad and glad Wind Waker did. They made the dodge rolling and backflipping more successful, but it also sort've became too easy.

I would definitely fuck pre-marrige suzy. But honestly, what the fuck happened to them all going to the GYM? Or was that just a 'with Jon' thing?
