>At the end of the credits there's no mention of Activision even though Crash Bandicoot is referenced in the game with an Easter Egg, which is strong evidence to suggest that Sony have purchased the IP back from the publisher. Why is it strong evidence do you ask? Because The Art of Naughty Dog Book that released back in 2014 listed a trademark for Activision, and if it still owned the IP then surely Sony / Naughty Dog would have to list them again in the credits at the end of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End due to the references it makes to Crash Bandicoot. releases.com/posts/c0fd7258-6e9c-4da9-ba73-0c4f904bf6f8
Welp, seems like Sony is winning E3 for the fifth year in a row......
Why crash? It was an okay game, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't have a place among current games. It was an okay 3d-platform for its time, if they released anything similar to that now it would be mediocre at best. That leaves in the situation of trying to do something new with an old IP, which automatically fucks them because nostalgic people want the same old shit and other people want something fun.
is right, Spyro would have been a much better choice.
Jace Rivera
Spyro is tied to the skylanders cash cow, impossible to get it back.
David Brooks
In your dreams nerd
Bentley Bennett
Does it matter? Whatever game they'd come up with is gonna suck anyway.
Tyler Evans
It needs to be an "open world" platformer like Crash Twinsanity and how the Ratchet and Clank games are. Twinsanity would have been amazing if it were finished.
Isaiah Evans
If 2D platformers still sell, then why wouldn't crash?
Jace Davis
I really hope its crash team racing 2 with online and not a fucking 40 dollar 3d platformer.
Jonathan Lee
>There are people that liked Crash Bandicoot. >There are people that want another bronze medal platformer.
Oliver Wood
>Crash Bandicoot remake by modern Naughty Dog >ends up being a serious story with no fun allowed
Henry Stewart
>There are people that liked uncharted >There are people who want to watch another game.
Ryan Scott
YES!
Charles Watson
>Twinsanity would have been amazing if it were finished. This, i want a remake
Easton Morgan
>furry platformer #236 is okay when Sony does it!
Justin Adams
Do any of the Crash 1 - 3 developers still work at Naughty Dog?
James Powell
Not even an easter egg. It's a blatant unmissable part of the story.
Kayden Wright
Super smash Bros 4 has a trophy of Rayman in the game
But no Ubisoft in the credits!
Surely Nintendo owns Rayman now
Robert Hernandez
Skylanders is standing on its own now, Spyro's not really the driving force anymore. I wouldn't get my hopes up or anything, but I wouldn't say it's impossible.
Aiden Gutierrez
>Skylanders is standing on its own now,
Hello person from before Disney Infinity
Isaiah Rodriguez
IT'S HAPPENING BROS. GREATNESS AWAITS .
Chase Gray
The only non indie company still making money from platformers is Nintendo. Even the future of Rayman is uncertain.
Julian Morris
But you're imply Crash Bandicoot had good games.
Grayson Harris
You are almost as dumb as the people who want banjo 3 when most of the team isn't working at rare anymore
Leo White
Rayman is gonna be fucked because of Vivendi. Microsoft doesn't know what to do with Rare's platformer IPs.
This bastard was from Universal Games and now has a hand in the making of the PS4. I wouldn't be surprised if Cerny was the reason Crash was bought.
Jeremiah Walker
>an easter egg literally has deeper meaning than being just an "easter egg"
just kill yourself, OP stop wasting my oxygen and kill yourself
Julian Miller
epic bro
Jayden Reed
Considering how Ubisoft is using it and how less its treating Michel Ancel, it wouldn't be a far-fetched option.
Cooper Russell
>arnold, a pleb show >and is a shitposter Boy, how totally unsurprising
Owen Robinson
Very easily missable for today's targeted ADD/ADHD audience. This is what constitutes as an easteregg nowadays.
Zachary Flores
>you will live to see platformers make a comeback
What happened to Yooka-Laylee btw senpai?
Aiden Ortiz
Why are you guys excited for this? There's only two options here as far as modern reboots of old series go and they're both terrible: 1. edgy reboot that completely rapes the series 2. ironic retro reboot that constantly brings attention to how silly and 90's it is I'd rather it stay dead for now until reboots stop being either of those retarded things.
Jeremiah Evans
Crash was designed to be edgy and ironic from the beginning
Jaxson Howard
>kikestarter
why does anyone bother asking?
Landon Wood
If this happens I will literally throw my ps4 and all it's games in the trash. I thought Sony was past kiddy shit like this, this is something Ninturd would make like all their shitty kiddy Mario games.
Liam Diaz
Sony own all the licences for crash 1-3, as long as they haven't changed the game in any way they can reproduce it as much as they want. You can buy all the original crash games on the psn store and there is no added Activision credit anywhere.
They only need to buy the licence from Activision if they're making a brand new crash game
Brandon Brooks
>mfw modern Naughty Dog makes Crash even edgier than his modern tattooed design
Xavier Moore
They're making a big announcement about it when E3 comes around.
Alexander Kelly
Not in the sense that is commonly attributed to those words today.
Owen Morris
Howso? Crash was supposed to be edgier than Sonic and Mario and the entire advertising campaign was ironic as fuck.
Jackson Walker
BUT HEY, THAT'S JUST A THEORY.
Blake Evans
fuck crash bandicoot.
we need need a Croc or Spyro reboot
Jason Richardson
>Welp, seems like Sony is winning E3 for the fifth year in a row......+ 0 post omitted.
>An inferior Mario clone >Winning E3
Connor Morales
Shitposters.
Crash has sold over 50 million games. Yet apparently its garbage and no one wants it.
E3 is gonna be fantastic this year if only for Sony's conference
Eli Sanchez
Why would Naughty Dog ever go back to Crash? They've been shifting further and further away from that style of game for years and always followed industry trends. It's such a radical shift from their recent ventures like The Last of Us and Uncharted, which are the biggest titles they've ever made and have solidified them as "those guys that make really realistic and technologically impressive third person shooters that pretend they're Hollywood films."
It's been a one way path for them. If Sony actually does acquire the IP I bet they'll have Sanzaru make the new game or something with some Naughty Dog supervision.
The only great Crash game was CTR anyway
Angel Hall
>Sony own all the licences for crash 1-3, as long as they haven't changed the game in any way they can reproduce it as much as they want.
>Tales from my ass
They own publishing rights to Crash 1-CTR but cannot use the character without Activisions permission because it's their IP. This is why Activision has a credit in Naughty Dog's artbook, despite it all having art from Crash 1-CTR.
Evan Edwards
I'm satisfied with Rayman. Origins was great and the fact it got a sequel was a miracle. I wouldn't mind if we didn't get another.
Parker Thomas
>nintoddler being butthurt because crash was better than sm64
Ryan Collins
Yeah, I remember that time Crash ripped N. Cortex's head off in a gory display and shat down his neck.
Good times.
Owen Gonzalez
Crash was only really edgy in art and advertising. All of his ingame expressions are goofy as fuck.
Samuel Sanchez
>Annualised kiddy Chinese sweatshop knock off of Mario >Better than one of the greatest platforming games of all time >This is what Sony fanboys actually believe
Benjamin Barnes
the easter egg is relevant because if activision still owned crash, they would be in the credits, otherwise they would sue the shit out of ND/sony
the fact they aren't there implies that crash is not owned by them any more if you don't understand why that is relevant, then you might have brain problems, because I literally spelled it out for you
Then why is there no credit for Activision in the psn versions of crash 1 - ctr?
Sony don't need Activision's permission to reproduce them
Alexander Ward
I don't even like Crash but it was ripping from DKC and Sonic
Jayden Gomez
Crash is more cornball than edgy. He's not even on genesis-era Sonic's level of 90s edge.
Benjamin Edwards
>Sup Forums suddenly hates Crash
What the FUCK happened?
Noah Perez
>Nintentoddler's not even getting a direct this year
As a Wii U/PS4 owner I don't even care. Too pumped for Crash and Yooka Laylee
Elijah Morales
Take off the nostalgia goggles, sm64 was clumsy as fuck. I only played it in like 2006 so I don't have all the baggage from my childhood. Its aged terribly in every sense, the graphics, gameplay, everything. Crash hasn't aged anywhere near as badly
Lucas Adams
but spyro is still tied to the main skylanders set wich is still being sold. if activision sold the rights they couldnt legally sell it anymore
Gabriel Rivera
Go ahead and be hyped. Crash was pretty fucking lame compared to Mario 64. Fucking klonoa would be more interesting than a crash reboot. Hell I bet when the dust settles, fucking Rayman still comes out over crash. Even bubsy would get me hyped. But crash? Ah hell no.
Logan Walker
If you truly love Crash you don't want him to come back, not under modern day Sony/Naughty Dog.
Isaac Jones
Because Universal games is still credited on them, for some fucking reason.
Gabriel Thomas
I think the only really, 'edgy' thing about Crash was the codename for the games before they finalized it. They called it, "Sonic's Ass Game."
>Torchlight 2 has Minecraft reference >OH GAWD RUNIC MUST BE THINKIN ABOUT BUYING MINESHIT FROM MOJANG And of course, you should remember Torchlight 2 was released before the jews at Microshit bought out Mojang and Mineshit.
Or hey, better yet, here's another example of your retarded logic: >X game has easter egg reference of another character / theme / enemy / etc from Y game >HOLY SHIT,. "X company" CREATOR OF "X game" MUST BE PLANNING ON BUYING "Y game / Y game's character / etc"
You are fucking retarded.
Ryder Reyes
Sony sell the original crash games on psn and there is no Activision credit anywhere.
They don't need Activision's permission to reproduce the originals, only for new crash games
Nathaniel Diaz
>Fifth year in a row
Nintendo's show sucked last year, but they killed it in 2014. Sony's '14 show was complete garbage.
Anthony Jones
Is this some Euro commercial, because I cannot fucking remember him ever sounding like that.
Josiah Powell
I don't think this was ever showed in the states. Thank god.
Connor Collins
Not sure if bait or you just can't read. All those games have credits for the cameos and references. Shit like Geno in Mario & Luigi gets a credit from Square Enix, yet people are going overboard because a fully playable version of Crash 1 has no credit to Activision?
Luke Johnson
>Lucina >whore No Crash's voice is so fucking good
Levi Watson
Point still stands.
Sony make money from crash games and don't credit Activision. Why? Because Sony own the rights for the original crash games. They can do what they want with them. Any new crash content however needs Activision's stamp and a royalty check with their name on
From fucking day one, Sony's entire marketing strategy has been to be as cunty as possible while trying to act hip. Even Sega's old anti-Nintendo campaign didn't come off as being this fucking pissy.
Brody Davis
>theres no credit given to Actiblizz, therefore it must be true
Man, why dont you fuck off to some retarded ass conspiracy theory site, while your at it.
Since you're so inclined to believe in retarded ass hearsay
Evan Allen
Crash 3 was great, but even then they were already getting too far into vehicle gimmick territory. Not sure how I would feel about this with modern Naughty Dog. I don't think they have the talent to push it forward.
Eli Adams
>Legally crediting is retarded ass hearsay
Sebastian Gray
I really don't see how Crash can work in the modern age, and honestly, they'll just fuck it up with some terrible gimmick just like Crash of the Titans
Jason Jones
its nothing really Sony still owns the rights to the PSX games, wich why they where the only ones on PSN they are free to use it without Activisions unvolvement
Elijah Garcia
>Nintendo fans in major damage control over an IP that could render the only half assed game genre they still have a stranglehold on - moot. They feel as though they are being dangerously threatened by Crash return and thus deny and insult a series that had universal acclaim and insane sales (50 million sold)
Isaiah Kelly
How is Crash edgy?
Maybe the marketing was, I don't know, but the actual games he permenantly looks confused and almost paranoid if you leave him idle. He never talks and happily does whatever he gets told to do.
If anything Spyro was more edgy, he was rude to the other dragons and the first thing he says is "where's Gnasty Gnorc, I want to toast him". It's no different to "I'm going to kill Praxis!".
Kevin Cox
>new crash game comes out >sells 400k at max >78 on metacritic
If i owned scea i would never invest in it.
Brandon Jenkins
>literally implying Crash is being used to sell Uncharted 4
Mason Jenkins
Sony bought Crash from Activision yesterday.
Justin Thompson
citation needed
Parker Myers
Not true. Sony has publishing rights and has to work with Activision to even have the games on the store. Its why those games are not on Vita. Activision is shit.
Also if they can use Crash then why did this happen?
The only one you could consider pissy is when he actually goes to Nintendo and that's still a stretch >Even Sega's old anti-Nintendo campaign didn't come off as being this fucking pissy. You're joking right? Fucking look at this shit youtube.com/watch?v=PIBmBy9APaU >00:07 >01:40 >03:20 >03:48 >04:48
Jackson Ortiz
>Any new crash content however needs Activision's stamp and a royalty check with their name on I think the Uncharted easter egg technically contains new content.
Christopher Edwards
It does. The game was remade from the ground up.
Jose Barnes
kekek fifth year
Anthony Morris
I have crash on my vita, just a quirk of the American store.
Also the reason why they couldn't publish crash fan art is the same reason Activision needed to be credited for the art book that included crash concepts. Anything 'new' with crash on needs their approval, but Sony can do what they want with the og crash games
Jack Cox
>Anything 'new' with crash
The level in uncharted was a remake of Crash 1
Jayden Lee
Lmao Spyro was a total instigating little smartass, but edgy? Come on man.
Ryder Diaz
>WAH THEY MADE FUN OF MY FAVORITE COMPANY everyone was doing this shit, if you want to complain to someone, do it to SEGA they where much worse this is why we cant have fun vidya commercials anymore
Adrian Turner
The "HA HA FUCK OUR RIVALS" commercials have been the most cringeworthy thing to me, no matter who's doing it. It always feels like they're setting themselves up to look like fools. It's especially funny considering how far Crash fell immediately after the PS1 era ended, while Mario's still Mr. Videogames.
Alexander Brooks
who the fuck is going to develop it
Cameron Smith
I am
Wyatt Taylor
They will either outsource it or give it to Insomniac, they need to do something besides Ratchet
Dominic Bell
No one cause it literally isn't happening, despite some literal retards thinking an easter egg is more than just being a fucking easter egg
