>see trailer for DoW3
>get hyped
>see screenshots
>mfw
Yeah, it's probably too early to judge the game. But what a bummer, what a huge difference in style and tone.
>Gabriel and Macha fall in love and get married
>they fight back against chaos with the power of true love
Should I play DoW 1 or 2? Never played DoW in my life, I'm a Warcraft3 cunt.
They are pretty different. One has base-building and big armies, one no base-building and skirmishes, but with more rpg-elements. You have to decide what sounds more interesting, but both are good games and.
....and?
And nothing. Sorry, wanted to write something but decided against it and
40k is the most epic thing ever. I'm so glad Sup Forums taught me about it.
>and.
is you ded user?
Warp took him.
is it just me or Sup Forums is not excited for DoW3? There isn't even a thread on /vg/ on warhammer? How's that possible?
Don't talk to this Heretic, he was touched by the Warp.
Go away.
Why?
Warhammer 40k still thinks it's in the 80's, which is awesome!
We have like 2 screenshots to discuss, and we had constant maxed out threads for an entire day after the trailer dropped. There really isn't much to go over at the moment.
It's probably going to go back to imagedumping until we get new info.
Reminder that the RTS genre is dead and this game will flop.
Reminder that you should kill yourself.
I used to ride the RTS meme train in the early 2000s. The genre is dead now. Last good RTS I played was Supreme Commander, and that came out ages ago.
>Dawn of War 3
Waiting to see how soon I can play this, coming in with low expectations and hoping there's an alpha test later this year. My worries are how big the armies can get, how many factions there will be after all (if any) expansions years after release and if mods will be supported.
I expect to be disappointed, but I won't shit on it until I actually play it.
>Any other W40K game that I forgot about
You forgot about Eternal Crusade but I can understand why its forgotten.
Hey, you know that 40k MOBA they were making? Turns out they cancelled it in March
...
The main reason why it'll flop is not because the RTS genre is dead(not saying it isnt either) but because its SEGA
Expect dlc units up the ass and a shitton of cut content in favor of selling dlc
>he plays eldar in battlefleet gothic
Ive never played dawn of war or anything warhammer 40k related despite playing numerous strategy games of various kinds. I guess i should just jump right into DoW2?
>about to lose
>fly the last ship around the map until someone gets bored and quits
Sup Forums cant into games the require even a mordicrum of thought
you can get dow1 (all dlc/expansions ) on kinguin for under £5
havent played much of it my self. starting tomorrow
God i fucking hate elves
Are you sure its not filtered
There is ALWAYS a total war thread up on /vg/. was in there earlier. left when it got derailed by politics
I bought the DoW collection and have tried Dark Crusade, but the building and combat just feels clunky as fuck, especially after playing a ton of War3 back in the day.
Hi, Coach Dorn here.
the SpaceHulk Deathwing forums have been infested with reddit tier facebookers. I need YOUR HELP to flush them out.

If you haven't seen the fucking gameplay footage for Deathwing, here it is.

No roleplaying, you faget.
I had some data recovery 2v2's recently with no Eldar, and holy fucking shit it's so much fun without OP bullshit.
>data frequently changes hands using lightning and boarding pods
>1 Chaos player per team meant no one could fully escape into the corner of the map
>skilful manoeuvres used by all but the Orks to avoid rams and AOE
>Orks using Tracktor Kannons to ram their enemies into themselves or their ramming ships
I can't wait for Eldar to be balanced because BFGA is so close to being excellent fun. Whenever Eldar are in the game it's often worth auto-retreating, especially as Orks.
>Dawn of War 3 units are built to do specific things. You unlock the option to make them do those things in a slightly different way but Gabriel is still an up-close melee brawler tank and Soleria [the Imperial Knight] is always going to be a ranged powerhouse.”
Ah yes, just what DoW needed, a strong independent woman titan pilot that don't need no emperor
i might start playing as ork after i get to level 8 chaos
that tractor beam thing seems fun as fuck to use.
i dont mind losing that much non eldar players.
jesus christ you have to be a total fucking asshole to go that faction. they had to be elves too. fag race
There's nothing really stopping women from being Knight Titan pilots, though, other than their feudal household.
40k is ruined
it will never be goofy orcs in space fighting mercs in power armor ever again
it's all about wrist slitting edgy "MUH KAYAAWS!! MUH HEERESY!! MUH TAU AND ELDAAAR!!!!"
Also
>Find out new spacehulk is fps, unlike the shitty board game port like the last one
>Think it's gonna be a tactical FPS/RTS dungeon crawler hybrid like the amazing DOS/PS1 Space Hulk games
>mfw It's yet another unimaginative wave survival game
Also
>Table top game getting worse with each edition
>Models getting more expensive and fewer, GW continually adding more and more bad units that nobody will ever use
>Meanwhile Legio Cybernetica still hasn't returned to the game
>Lore is continually getting worse and worse, focusing on being edgy or an imperium wankfest
>Still no age of strife lore except for that one comic
I'm just about ready to give up on jew dubs, lads.
>that guy who eats a bag of doritos and then wants to pick up and examine your minis that you worked hard to paint
I just hate the knight lore, as wacky as 40k is that's cutting it too close to adolescent fanfiction
Not even big into muhreens but they idea of essentially mercenaries commanding such vital armour is dumb
Because god know the Imperium never lets wildcard mercenary types do anything important
Orks are good, annoyingly tough and when you're in brawling range of them you're fucked. Currently though the only favour worth taking is the Evil Sunz one for their Tracktor Kannons and faster engine fuel regen. If you're in a data recovery game Bad Moons ships and grot launchas are worth taking so you can steal data from silly ranges then run away. Plus equipping your ships with whatever you want is great, you do this when you first get a new ship. Pro tip: Kannons are fucking nasty, cruisers/battlecruisers with full broadsides of them are solid takes.
>Tfw I did that and ended up winning due to slowly whittling their ships to death with bombers
TREMBLE, FOR CHAOS COMES.
So should I play DoW or DoW2?
That sort of stuff should be a rarity, how many of those mechwarrior clubhouse ripoffs currently exist
cheers, hell even the escorts are pretty nuts with their front cannons
>that greasy cunt picking up your Eldar flyers that aren't sold any more by the model
>"yeah looks ok"
>No threads up
There is one actually:
You need to always be
Yeah, use Savage Gunships if you have any spare points. Set them to attack from the front at 3km range.
DOW1 first. Play in order of release.
I made an account ages ago with a classic 40k name before it was taken. I'll log in later
DoW. Better voice work, more races, more gritty and larger battles. DoW 2 was a huge failure.
>that moment where the Wraithknight bisects the Imperial knight, then gets Wiped out by the second
>DoW 2 was a huge failure.
If it were a huge failure they would not have made 2 sequels. It's a different game.
Both. Don't listen to the salty assholes who refuse to acknowledge DoW 2 was good but different. Order of release is prefered buy you will get hung up on Dark Crusade/Soulstorm if you want to see all the single player content.
...
It should have been called Heroes of the Warp.
Both. If you are interested in the campaign, play every DoW and DoWII expansion, Soulstorm is a safe skip though, it was boring.
Oh yeah it was one of the chaos gods
>there are people out there that didn't love the DoW 2 campaigns
>there are people who never combined melee Tarkus with Jonah, to create a squad that refused to die, forced all enemies to drop their weapons and attack in melee and then utterly ripped them to shreds
Can someone post the Jew edit with Tzeentch?
This one?
Sheeit, that's amazing for a gift, have fun with it
Yah I think.
...
>buy gifts for friends every now and then
>including fully priced games on wishlists and ones I've heard they want, not just ones on sale
>never get anything in return
eg
>have friend at College who likes singleplayer games
>heard he wanted to play Dead Space 1 & 2
>game wasn't on sale, buy both games for him
>he never plays them once
>sometimes complains to me that he's bored
>titans are irreplaceable pieces of technology
>lets send them to melee a fucking wraithknight lol
Are blood ravens the most retarded chapter in the galaxy?
>Titans
Those are Knights
>Reading about the thousand sons
>The Codex Astartes calls this manoeuver 'Steel Rain'
Dawn of War 3: Boreale's Revenge
Space Marine Chapters don't command Knight Houses, they can ask for their help. That's about it. And they damn sure can't order a Titan Maniple about.
you are a moron
we're fucked
Those cannons would not have done shit vs a Wraith Knight, so melee was the only option.
>LOL RETARDED
Man that sucks, I always try to give some gifts to my friends on their birthdays and usually get something back
Godspeed user, you have a kind soul
kek
If you want a good audio book, listen to The Talon of Horus. It's about a Thousand Sons legionary sorcerer in the 41st millennium who's not your stereotypical evil chaos marine trying to find Abaddon's hidden ship. It's very good.
I'll check it out. Only Audio book? I've never listened to an audio book, but I listen to podcasts a lot.
I'll find a Download
Just embrace the bird magic.
It's a book too, but the vocal talent in the audio book version is very good. Whichever version you pick it's worth getting.
>X don't command Y, they can only request aid
That basically sums up the post-Heresy Imperium military hierarchy in its entirety
Friendly reminder that Dawn of War Franchise Pack was 75% off.
And nobody gifted it to me..
Everything went bad for them. They are JUST the legion
DoW2 was probably the only Diablo-type game where I had real fun. By the end, I had equipped the FC with a Heavy Bolter that had no set-up time and would insta-gib light infantry.
They are totally different.
dow1 is a RTS and dow2 is a MOBA
At least they're not the Lamenters
At least the lams aren't just animated suits of armor
At least the Lamenters don't have the Blood Ravens shitting up their name
Probably got it in the Humble Bundle since it was $12 for the whole thing+a bunch of Total War games.
Lamenters are JUST incarnate
Getting fucked up trying to save people is nothing compared to all the shit TS got dealt
...
...
Get better friends
Lamenters are the most popular tragic marines, but there are similar stories. I can't remember the name of them but there's a chapter in Imperial Armour 13 who couldn't defend a world from a Tyranid(?) invasion, meaning insurmountable odds even the smerfs couldn't cope with; and to spare the native population from pain and anguish the marines gave them a quick death before retreating. They were then declared heretic and have been actively hunted.
Serving the Emperor > Logical withdrawal from a pointless defeat
I'm really looking forward to Space Hulk: Deathwing. The visuals are definitely on point (thank you, Unreal Engine 4) and the guys over at Streum On seem to be really into the setting. My main worry is that the maps will be ridiculously straight forward. I don't mind them being linear in a liberal sense, but I fear that they might end up being clear corridors that lead from A to B rather than the interesting labyrinthine ship interiors that end up converging on the same final spot that they should be. Making decisions like avoiding great halls or splitting up at certain corridors in search of artifacts or to clean up potential ambushes would add a lot to the tactical depth of the game. I enjoy straight forward games like Vermintide and L4D as much as anyone, but it'd be a waste of the Space Hulk 'setting' to go for an entirely linear approach. The longevity of its popularity will rely entire on the quality of its level design and diversity aswell as the replayability.
>Custodes Armor
What's even stopping these kleptomaniacs from stealing the corpse of Guilliman?
...
They like stuff that's actually useful.
>tfw no Eldar gf
i just binge watched the entirety of "if the emperor had a text to speech to device"
it's pretty fucking great, would recommend.
Did I just catch you being a fucking heretic?
> That 361% armor on the body.
I knew Space Marine armor was tough, but thats off the chain.
