P5 isn't doomed, they've been gaining fans thanks to the succes and goodwill of P4. It might become the most sold Persona game but I'm not sure if it will sell as much as FFXV.

XV will very likely be at Japan expo in July and also episode 3 of brotherhood in July, also Japanese theatre release of Kingsglaive

August XV will very likely be at Gamescom with a new trailer and PAX again, and episode 4 of brotherhood is in August too

September XV and P5 will both be at TGS with their final trailers, episode 5 of brotherhood in September also the Persona 5 anime prologue, then Sep 15 P5 out in Japan, then Sep 30 XV out worldwide and also the English version of Kingsglaive with it.

English P5 will be sometime between Q4 2016 - Q1 2017

Persona 4 sold close to 2 million with the combination of the Vita and PS2 version, and P5 is hotly anticipated regardless of what's coming out with it.

Like Final Fantasy, Persona games are self contained. You don't need to play the others at all. Although there are little references and easter eggs from other Persona games but it's nothing important

Why? I've played every mainline FF game and I see no reason why they shouldn't try something different considering XII can barely be considered turn based and that came out 7 years ago.

Turn based combat got them where they are today. I feel like they've alienated a large chunk of the core fandom by getting rid of it.
