Holy fucking shit Sup Forums.
Finally got DS3 yesterday, and Ive been blowing through the game and ive cleared every boss. At the final one I was facing, The Nameless King, I realized something. Does every fucking boss in this game have 2 phases? Its so formulated and lazy. And on top of that, the Nameless King has 2 2 phases to o through.

>he used a guide on his first play through
The skeleton king doesnt have two phases.
BTFO
He goes from not summoning skeletons to summoning bonewheels as well as regular skeletons
He always spawns skeletons.
He use a sword in his second phase
Sword is temporary, doesn't always spawn it. Try again.
>Its so formulated and lazy
>Having more depth is lazy
Amazing
The entire game plays it safe, we might just be getting too used to the formula though but fuck this game was boring. I completely lost interest half way through
How is adding more mechanics to boss fights lazy?
Because instead of it being something different that stands out and really adds something to the boss it just becomes normal and expected. "Oh, here's the second stage" was my reaction for the entire game.
2 phases is not formulated. Thats more work, and awesome. Its very dramatic when the elder prince revives the younger. Or when the tree breaks the ground.
What I did get tired of, since I have to bring a valid complaint to the table now, is how many bosses in this game were just Big Guys w/ swords. I mean it is the last souls game, how about something totally fucking weird?
wouldn't it be lazier if all the bosses only had one phase tho?
>how about something totally fucking weird
go play bloodborne
>Because instead of it being something different
It's always something different.
>and really adds something
It basically changes the boss and makes how you have to fight them different. It's literally really adding things to the fight.
>"Oh, here's the second stage" was my reaction for the entire game.
So? "Oh, here's a fog wall, that means I'm at a boss" was my reaction for the entire game, this doesn't make it inherently bad, it just means you're retarded.
Second part of post is worse in DS2.
so it would be less lazy if they did less work on the bosses by not having a second phase?
Is this shitposting? There's a lot of lazy stuff in Dark Souls, bosses with stages is not one of them. Even if every boss follows the formula, and has a second stage that is triggered, that still isn't lazy. Maybe if the second stage was something basic and the same for every enemy, like it continues doing the same moves but faster and dealing more damage.
>dubs, trips quads
the truth has been spoken
Oh shit
Mmmmm
Those numbers don't lie
Oh fuck
Sword is 100% random.
People will find anything to complain about.
I don't remember Champion Gundyr having two phases. Just kicks. Lots and lots of kicks.
He gains a foot stomp, a charge with insane tracking, an uppercut and, in general, he's way quicker, more aggressive and reads your input when you use estus in phase 2.
He kicks faster... didn't someone earlier in the thread say that would be lazy....?
He also have a different follow-up to the uppercut depending on what happens: if you get hit by the uppercut, he follows with a kick and if you don't get hit, he follows with a shoulder bash.
>Big Guys w/ swords.
Eh, i agree but there was enough variation to not feel so stale.
>abysswatchers
dual wield with knife and sword and anime
>wolnir
Can you even call that a sword, but yeah, pretty basic.
>sully
dual wields greatswords
>yhorm
hardly a sword, more like a machete.
>lorian
pretty basic as well.
>nameless
It's more used as a spear than as a sword.
>SoC
Not a sword for 2 8ths of his fight.
But yeah, quite fucking repetitive in some ways.
