Fairy Fencer F

My brother's a huge weebo faggot, and I don't just mean the type of person who enjoys vidya from Japan, but the pinnacle of animu obsession who can't play a game if there aren't 3 lolis half-naked in it.

He got me Fairy Fencer on Steam because he's always trying to convert me to his way of thinking.

This will essentially be my first JRPG since I played FF6 on PS1 almost a decade ago.

How has the genre changed? Anything I should know going in?

Just play it faggot

That the genre has overall changed for the worse and the games from compile heart are mediocre for the most part. FFF is decent but has issues with difficultty, the game is just too easy even if you don't grind, and while that isn't the only issue, it's the biggest one

If he really cared about JRPGs, he wouldn't be within an inch of Steam.

All the best ones from the PS3 generation were poached by the VITA.

What you need to know is that DLC reduces SOME of the grind required. With the DLC weapons/faries you can just cut through everything to power level.

Okay, so just avoid grind like the plague. Got it.

So you advise avoiding the DLC?

Compile Heart is generally not great

Play Bravely Default or SMT or something m8

FFF is fucking trash, just like the hyperdimension games
Story is retarded and almost non-existant
gameplay is absolute dogshit, even for turn-based standards
characters are just one generic trope after another
There's plenty of great JRPGS and compile heart hasn't made any of them.

Unless you don't have any other platforms, steam is the worst place to go for jrpgs. Try not to judge the genre based on Compile Heart games since they are mediocre even for budget titles with the only redeeming quality being the characters.

The DLC in that game is weird. It's basically only relevant in post game leveling. Where the difficulty spikes to insane levels. Once you get to around 64, leveling basically stops. The lowest level DLC dungeon has enemies at 110. You'll have to target specific enemies. Kill one, then run out and save. Then do it constantly.

Neptunia is the absolute pinnacle of the JRPG experience. You don't know SHIT about anything, son.

Baby's first JRPG
They're fucking awful
If you want anime tits you don't need to sit through a 40 hour slog of shit to see them

I don't know why people keep bashing FFF.

It's a solid game, with a light-hearted story, likable and un-edgy protagonist, and I may just be bad but I didn't find it too easy either.

That being said the DLC breaks it a little so avoid that if you can.

Wasn't an "enhanced" version of this game released for the PS4? I've heard almost nothing about it.

July 26.

Unfortunately you have to grind a lot to get the extra characters, but you can ignore them

In Japan, yeah. Doesn't come out in NA for a few more months. Guess there just aren't enough people on Sup Forums that like FFF for importfags to keep us updated on it.

I will never get all the hate for this game.

>voice acting is spot-on
>script is downright funny, even for someone who isn't into the entire slice-of-life anime-humor thing
>combat is challenging if you don't overgrind
>world makes sense and is bursting with life and color
>tons of customization and specializations
>protagonist is probably the most laid-back alpha motherfucker I've ever played in a JRPG

I think your brother did you a huge favor OP.

It's probably the least hated CH game on Sup Forums.

Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force on PC when?
I just want to Harley route because her design is close to clock

You can trade fairies/create a fairy harem with other main characters.

There are a couple new characters and Marianna becomes a party member (her insanity is magically gone)

My main complaint is that like more than a quarter of the game is NG+. I don't really want to play through it a second time for the extra characters, being able to revive the goddess, the tower thing. And you can say "combat's is challenging if you don't overgrind," but if you do any side quests, which you'll have to do if you want money for equipment or costumes, you'll outlevel everything. Plus at some point you figure out that a fairy with a character's given element+ and sp regen just means you can spam magic and end combat in 1-2 turns and never actually use SP until a boss fight.

Only because people almost never talk about it in general, kind of like Omega Quintet or Curry God. I'd say disregarding the obvious shitpost meme hate, Meganep VII is the most well received.

>Neptunia
>Tits

So Fang can finally get the best and most useful fairy, Bahus?

It seems you played it through.

Does the Time Travel happen a bunch of times? I just got to that for the first time. I hate that shit and it made me almost quit Bravely Default.

Just once. I was expecting that to happen, too, but no, it's not too bad. Though Fang is much more fun the first time through.

>trading off Eryn

>Trying to convert someone to liking JRPGs with Fairy fencer F of all things
Your brother aint too smart.

Google the game, suddenly remember why I liked it, for lewd.

I never understood why he opposed the idea, it's basically trading a generic cute girl (something that exists in abundance in his universe) for someone who would cook and clean for free.

>Omega Quintet
One of the absolute worst games I have ever played. Not even fanservice could manage to make that game playable.

What didn't you like about Omega Quintet? I got it during the golden week sale and I enjoying it so far, I'm on chapter 5.

It was created after Fairy Fencer F, yet has everything that people hated about the Neptunia games. Awful battle system, and kill x(999) for rare quest item (y) to drop.
