So I'm playing through the Castlevania series for the first time. I've just finished beating the NES trilogy and now I'm planning to go Castlevania IV > Dracula X > Bloodlines > Symphony of the Night. After that though, the series seems to get super complicated, if only due to the number of these games.
Which should I try, Sup Forums?
Also, Castlevania thread.
Justin Howard
It's simple:
Avoid: Castlevania 64, Lament of Innocence, Lords of Shadow Play: Everything else
Also you forgot Rondo in your list of classicvanias.
Dylan Bennett
I've read that Dracula X is just Rondo with some redesigned levels. Is it different enough to warrant playing through bothe of them?
Jason Perry
N64: Legacy of Darkness Neither of the PS2 games GBA: Circle of the Moon, Aria of Sorrow DS: Dawn of Sorrow, Order of Ecclesia Lords of Shadow is pretty lame but it's not bad
Wyatt Robinson
You got memed on. They're the same game as in they portray the same period in the story but have nothing in common level or gameplay-wise and even the story is different. They're as much the same game as Castlevania 1 and Super Castlevania.
Jaxson Peterson
>Neither of the PS2 games Not him but why? Are they terrible or just different?
Juan Gutierrez
There's no need to play Dracula X. The real prequel to Symphony of the night is Rondo of blood or Dracula X Chronicles for PSP, because of Maria and other characters...
Blake Walker
it's rondo with completely different but similarly themed levels
it's extremely janky and handles like old bootleg hacks, avoid it
Joseph Adams
Get memed on.
Avoid breathing.
Isaiah Clark
The games for the N64 aren't as bad as people make them out to be. I actually think they're a pretty good representation of the classic Castlevania gameplay in a 3D environment and they're among my favourite Castlevania and N64 games in general.
Juan Richardson
Dont lisent to him and dont play aria of sorrow its retarded rpg weebshit play harmony of dissonance for the Gba
Luke Reyes
also would reccomend going rondo -> bloodlines -> IV, because the change in control is similar to the roaming map adventure style games and it can be jarring going back to whipping only straight ahead and not being able to change momentum midair
Jeremiah Rivera
I'm already playing that.
Harmony of Dissonance is kinda shit. It's good but I'm getting tired of the bullshit of those games. CotM also was boring as fuck.
>you can't pass this area because you don't have the Dildo of Doublejumping sorry
Christopher Russell
Don't skip the X68000 one aka the Classic mode of Castlevania Chronicles on the PSX. It's a top tier Classicvania.
Justin Rivera
people will meme about harmony of dissonance but it's pretty good
Hunter Hernandez
Dracula X is Rndo but ten times worse, don't play the shitty PSP remake.
Lincoln Johnson
What's wrong with the remake?
Christopher Anderson
Bad graphics and inferior music, you can unlock the original game by playing through the remake until stage 4 (?) but you are spoiling yourself the game that way.
Elijah James
Kill yourself, the game is fine.
Gavin Bell
I like curse of darkness
Connor Ramirez
>avoid lament of innocence Fuck you AND the night
Evan Foster
Circle of the Moon
Sebastian Ortiz
You know you can download someone's save to unlock Rondo and SotN right away, without having to play through the PS2-tier game.
Tyler Richardson
Google the timeline you lazy shit
Caleb Evans
Symphony of the Night, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia are fucking beautiful.
Dominic Hughes
Me too it's a great game, too bad fags keep shiting on it
