What the fuck? Why are games so huge nowadays, do devs not compress anything?
45gb download
Probably the graphics if it came out within the last 5 years.
Because both xbox and playstation use bluray devs stopped giving a fuck about compressing audio. Audio is the asset, aside from prerendered cutscenes, that takes the most disc space.
megatextures
This, but in dooms case it's really the virtual texturing taking up a lot of space. Ever looked at the texture files for the idtech 5 wolfenstien games?
Devs don't care anymore. They assume everyone has 10 terabyte harddrives
>32000x32000 textures
Maybe if Cheeseburgers didnt have 3rd world internet, we could have games even bigger and better.
>but a game
>can't even play it for 2 days
How do you even survive with 20 upload?
Devs brag about the file size of their games now because retards thing bigger filesize = more game to play.
Private track thread? Private tracker thread.
How does one get into all of these...
Where do you fucking live
All of them? Be a god like me.
Gaming one? Go on the black cats irc and ask for an invite.
Ebooks one? Go on MAM irc on monday and ask for an invite
Music one? Go on the What.cd IRC and ask for an invite
Movie one? Go on cinematik.net irc and ask for an invite
You'll have to take some interviews but they're easy
Thank you very much user.
what's a private tracker?
No problem but for the movie and music interviews make sure you brush up on your file formats or you wont pass the interview.
What.cd one is a bit tricky desu.
Best site though , check pic related.
Private torrent site dedicated to a niche.
You get way better seeds due to everyone seeding + seedboxes and you can get rare content not found anywhere else on the net.
Myspleen is dedicated to defunt video formats so you can watch entire adult swim blocks (aka someone recorded an entire broadcast of adult swim with adverts and shit ) 2005 ripped from someones tivo , KG has every arthouse movie in the world , HDBits has the best video encodes ever etc
Fun hobby to get into as well , check out /ptg/ on Sup Forums if you wanna learn more
It's funny that probably hundreds of games used the original Doom and Quake engines, but nobody wanted to license idTech5 it was so shit. Thanks Carmack, at least new Doom supports SLI/Crossfire.
...
no they don't and it's a joke
they ditched megatextures for D44M
It says he's near Prague
Thanks for the heads up and much appreciated.
there are a few reasons:
> it's easy to create gigabytes of textures, and BD disk offer a lot of space
> bloated assets = bigger pain to pirate
> duplicate assets = each level load or whatever can be done as a big linear read instead of seeking around on a disk (especially bad for optical) for file pieces
