Yes but thats a state minimum wage. This means that businesses, especially those on the border of other states, have to keep their goods in line with the rest of the country. If you raise the FEDERAL minimum wage, then everyone must make a certain amount of money, meaning businesses can indiscriminately charge people based on their minimum wage. The idea that raising the minimum wage is somehow going to make CEOs and such take a pay cut so the average joe can make more, is completely retarded. These multinational corporations are the only ones with the means to deal with a 15$ an hour minimum wage by either cutting costs on employment or their products. There might still be a cheap McDouble at mcdonalds but now its a double white castle microwave burger. Another downside of raising minimum wage is for small business owners, who only take in whats left after paying everything and still dont walk away with much more. Raising minimum wage for them will require them to either take a personal pay cut, as they dont have the means that big corporations do, or do one of the other things on the list.
