Anyone excited for the 1080?
I have a 4k monitor so yes I am excited.

I am getting a 1070 :^)

How about you wait for benchmarks first before making any decision?

Currently it's just all empty marketing talk. You don't seriously believe NVIDIA, do you?

>4k
>performance not even close to 4 time current gen
Enjoy silky smooth 18 fps fampai

The only talk here is that you got fucked by nvidia shills into believing it was a cheap card when its in fact 700 bucks.

gamersnexus.net/news-pc/2427-difference-between-gtx-1080-founders-edition-and-reference
>Every single instance of “Founder's Edition” can be replaced with the word “Reference,” using previous-gen nomenclature. There is not one difference in its market positioning. They are synonymous. NVidia has replaced its “Reference” name with “Founder's Edition.”
>There are not two GTX 1080 models made by nVidia. Only the “Founder's Edition” exists; there is not a cheaper card made by nVidia than the $700 Founder's Edition, which ships first.
>The “Founder's Edition” is not specially binned.
>The “Founder's Edition” is not pre-overclocked.
>The “Founder's Edition” uses the new reference cooler. The cooler is more-or-less identical to the previous reference models.
>This card is not "limited edition," despite its name that would indicate as much, and will run production through the life of the GTX 1080 product line.

Why would I be excited for a card that can only do 1080p?

>wait for benchmarks
honestly, not even him, i don't need a benchmark to tell me that nvidia is going to have the best top-end GPU this gen

>buying reference coolers
the only ones getting shafted are water-coolers, who have the money anyways, and dumbasses that don't know what a reference cooler is so fuck them

currently using a 4GB Vram 680 but im planning on upgrading next year around spring break. Im probably going to get a 1080. What CPU should I get?

You do know they defective items right?
Or did you break it on purpose?

This. Pascal is a good design. theyve shown that on the business and AI side.

ikr my current card does 7870

I cant wait to actually be able to play games at this resolution all the time

Inb4 devs care even less about optimisation after this

I don't think you're going to get single card 60fps performance at 4k with that card. It's not wildly better than the titan x and it still struggles a lot with open world games.

Source, I have a titan x.

>i don't need a benchmark
good goys like you is how you can sell cards that only run 75% of the RAM announced on the package.

spoken like a true console babby

I bought it on the last day of a promotion for the tomb raider game and Amazon fucked up sending the codes to where they sent me like 4 invalid codes for the game. Ended up not being able to get the game.

Fast forward 2 months later (1 month warranty was even up) and I used it as the reason for why I was requesting the return, and also saying that I was even more annoyed because the new GPUs are coming out and I need to return this GPU to afford it.

I'm guessing they let me slide because they know I'll probably be using their service to pre-order the card anyway. They did the same thing for my relative who bought the card later than I did too, so maybe they're just letting people refund 970s if bought within the year.

Yeah I'm sure me owning a console is why you will magically get 60 fps on 4 time the screen size of current gen by just getting 1.5* more processing power on your new card. Makes perfect sense.

Sure. Beggers can be choosy it seems.

In EU there is no such thing as "1 month warranty", you're guaranteed 2 years of warranty no matter what the product producer even says. Unless you mean purchase return which I believe is 1 to 3 months in EU depending on country.
Anyhow you could've easily just cited finding out about 3.5 as defect and they are obliged to take it.

I literally return shit all the time saying it's broken/defective

i always get my money back

If everything goes well and AMD doesn't step it up I'll pick up a 1080ti.

Titan X is moreso designed for architect builds like the K series video cards. Why else would it have 12gb VRAM. The build you have is the best for all around performance but when it comes to gaming the 1080 will stomp your Titan X by a lot especially with 4k.

I don't know what either of those are, will I get shafted if I get the reference edition?

No because my 670 is still enough for all the ugly shit the industry is throwing out currently.
And if theres a good looking game once or twice a year it still holds up easily.

1070 is fucking awesome and for 350 bucks.

>Witcher 3 gets 45 fps max settings on 980ti for 4k
>the improvement of the new card is 1.5x greater

What are you talking about user, the improvement is more than enough for a 15fps increase.

will be buying a 1070 in december/january when at the black friday sales or when they drop the 1080 and 1070 prices down to accommodate for the 1080 ti release.

get hype

If you already have a 980 or even a 970 and you want to upgrade you're literally retarded

>They announce a new line of graphic cards
>The next fucking day my GPU starts hitting temps of 97c

i cant be fucked to change the thermal past either

No i'm not actually. Expensive as hell (poorfag),
and i dont need 4k resolution for Games like...

Rollercoaster Tycoon (OpenRCT2)
Hotline Miami 2
Oddworld New n Tasty
Counterstrike 1.6
Metal Gear Solid GZ
Assetto Corsa

Also, how the hell can someone get "excited" about Hardware?
Bro, get yourself something to fuck!

Witcher is outdated crap.

faggot

logic isn't your forte it seems. Whatever. A fool and his money...

This card should be £50. Am sorry its true.

...

Try a different driver

it doesn't even stomp the 980ti.

I'm good with what I've got. I'll be passing on this gen all together most likely.

>4 time the screen size
4k is not 4x 1080, it's 3840x2160. That is 2x 1920x1080. You console kids sure are adorable.

lol

What a stupid amount of money to spend on videogames.

yeah tried, underclocking now.

>I don't know how math works.

its not a fucking gaming card you retard.

>poorfag detected
I built that rig off less than half my paycheck user. It's not a lot of money to me.

SLI meme

don't you just love it when they use detailed statistics like "relative performance" to showcase new cards? I mean look, the bars of the new cards are way longer!

man Sup Forums is fucking retarded.

Did this kid not get the memo? It's not 2006 anymore.

try multiplying and dividing
maybe then your neckbeard brain understands why its called 4k

>buying a reference card
>buying a reference card in the most statically proven to be more faulty time frame , release
>not waiting until black friday where the asus/evga/msi/etc will have better cooling , durability , cheaper

>Implying he plays only video games on a rig like this.

>What are square roots.
>What is the understanding of rudamentary geometry.

relative performance is the only value casuals need to know when comparing cards. obviously bar graphs are dumb as fuck and misrepresentative, but there's nothing wrong with measuring relative performance

hurrrrrrrrrr

Holy shit please learn to count.

What this guy said. Think of it this way 1080p = 1920x1080 which is a 16:9 box. 3840x2160 is NOT just twice of that. Doubling that 1920x1080 box is 1920x2160 or 3840x1080, you're missing HALF of the 3840x2160. 4k is literally 4 times the pixels of 1080p.

How is a product a meme? What do you think meme means?

It could say average fps on it and nothing would change.

I have a 960 and I only have a 1080p 60hz monitor so I'm not really going to but that anytime soon. I also don't have any VR devices.

me dad is getting 300k in three months

should I get this? He's giving me 10k to build a peecee so I fuck away from his new car

what does this have to do with square roots? the gain is (3840*2160)/(1920*1080) which is 4

How old are you?

You could just simplify it for the moron. 1080p is 2million pixels. 2160p is 8million pixels.

ohhhh I hope this is someone's very good bait.

Oh what do you know it's 3840x2160 after making this picture.

old enough to beat ur ass man

23.

YOU WOULD HAVE TO BE A TOTAL KEK TO BUY NVIDIA AFTER THE 3.5GB INCIDENT.

WAIT FOR AMD VEGA

Shhh, don't tell him my secrets. This rig is clearly only for vidya obviously. I mean, 15 TB of games? Obviously! It's not like any other super obvious system exists with high end GPUs and silly amounts of storage.

>nvidia

Either way troll or not you're an adult and maybe went to school at one point

Research your shit like any other PC building adult

>what does this have to do with square roots?
If you can't tell, you're as dumb as the other guy. The 4K is twice the width and twice the height of 1920*1080.

>Incredibly fucking obscure product that it doesn't even have a name
>Nvidia shilled Gameworks game
>AMD shilled sold out to Gameworks game
>Obscure statistics that would throw this chart out as inconclusive
>From a company that has confirmed planned obsolescence policy to gimp cards through driver updates just to make new cards look better, in addition to partnering with MS for forced driver updates in W10

Way better off waiting till Polaris if you have no card at all or a broken one, in the meanwhile. Otherwise waiting until next year when games are using the cards to see how they actually perform.

Source: I have a 1080p monitor yet thanks to AMD MAGIC I can play games in 4k, and it's not really worth it unless you're playing a pretty slow game.

AMD is never on par with Nvidia
They're always going to be second class

No one can deny this

You pay for the performance and stability which Nvidia gives

AMD is for people that don't have a steady job or life

Or maybe I wanted to know from someone that isn't a fat virgin that think he's an adult because he understand his video games.

Yes, but what does that have to do with square ROOTS, dummy?

Maybe you should first decide - What kind of games are you going to play? What kind of display will you use? VR? Fucking research before considering components you fuckwit.

when you can answer at least some of those questions, if you're still unsure someone might actually be willing to help you.

>I have a 1080p monitor I can play games at 4k
>I don't see a difference.

tehnouddatehn'.

PC building is always more than just video games

Buy a laptop it would suit you better

do you know what a square root is

What would amazon do if I sent them my old GPU that I have sitting in my closet in the box of the card I'm returning?

>This level of autism
So is this who buys AMD products?

>Makingupshit/10

k
I do see the difference
I said there's no point when the primary priority is a stable solid framerate, in an age where developers are either actually incompetent or breaking their games with teething problems for DX12/Vulkan is basically non-existent in games.

Reading comp fag.

>people watching 120fps footage on a 60hz monitor and saying "anyone who thinks they can see a difference are delusional morons"

>From a company that has confirmed planned obsolescence policy to gimp cards through driver updates just to make new cards look better, in addition to partnering with MS for forced driver updates in W10

you fucked up. try harder next time.

who's the dummy now?

Holy shit my sides

>outdated crap
>Blood and Wine will most likely nab it GOT again in 2016
lel

Sorry, I can't read.

>1080p monitor
>Thinks he can actually see 4k rendered content on a 1080p screen.
user are you fucking autistic? No really, have you been checked? Of course it doesn't look worth the resource cost on your shit 1080p display.

Holy fuck Sup Forums, stop, my sides can't handle anymore.

I will wait until consumers and consumer-level press have the cards in-hand and are capable to perform independent testing. Does AMD also release yearly?

>Posting clickbait
>Posting a legit benign article as bait
>Not posting based AdoredTV

youtube.com/watch?v=BgaRDnyu5TU

Hint: WHQL is just qualifications, but are otherwise meaningless. AMD consistently updated whenever they felt like, and they only released a WHQL update to correspond with Vulkan's release. That's it.

Nice one lying and thinking you can get away with it though

>Twitter screencaps

I'm pretty excited, but:
1. Bitcoin miners are going to take all the cards for months
2. I'm gonna wait until people actually get their hands on it and see the REAL stress tests, not just marketing from Nvidia
3. All newer games will use the 1080 as the standard, not look that much better than games from last year, but still require WAY higher specs to run

I'll get the other card down the line, no point in getting a 4K setup unless I go all out and I'm not investing that amount of money on a PC.

>AMD is never on par with Nvidia
lol is that why the 390 is doing better in every non gameworks benchmark over the 970 and 980?

Nvidia is literally releasing downsized rehashed maxwell chips, yet they are marketing them as if they are "NEXT GEN GAMER APPROVED".

>AMD is never on par with Nvidia
>Meanwhile the 390 has been detroying the 970 in nearly every AAA release of the past 6 months
o.k

>Bitcoin miners are going to take all the cards for months

people still do this? plus i thought amd was confirmed best for mining meme gold?

WHAT THE FUCK IS THE FOUNDER EDITION? IS THE BIGGEST COMPANY IN THE BUISNESS NOW USING KICKSTARTER NAMES TO MAKE THEM FEEL SPECIAL OR WAT

>YOU JUST HAVE TO BELIEVE IT'S WORTH IT

kek
Meanwhile nobody can get Hitman to run consistently unless they have something roughly like a R9 390.
And console still exist.
So as far as VIDEO GAMES goes and not jpgs, I'd rather go VR first over maxing out resolution.

>>Not posting based AdoredTV

you mean the ex silicon glen amd employee who has been proven wrong so many times on various forums?
