"Step by step TF2 will start looking more like the modern competitive title we all know it deserves to be"
"Can't share everything, but expect tons of rebalances and an update that is much bigger than just the competitive mode release."
"Had a great Valve visit. TF team is awesome and the things they are working on are awesome."
-b4nny
where were you when valve started saving tf2?
Honestly glad Blizzard released Overwatch.
Finally after years of being on the backburner, TF2 will stop getting shafted over CS:GO/dota2 as the go-to supported competitive title from valve.
Sebastian Robinson
Final issues when?
Camden Edwards
>class based FPS >competitive
Brandon Green
Valve should just release TF3 desu, it would be hard to convince people to come back to TF2.
>Start up TF2 for nostalgia stake >Everytime, every fucking time I get the message ">tf2" from somebody >Different people >Not all from Sup Forums >Every time

It's like pottery
>It takes a rival game to come out to get a developer to actually do work >All those games that will never get work because this is pure chance developers even think about making non-sequels, let alone games that are so similar they rival one another
Fuck it, maybe Midair will do good.
Ian Morris
>Roles >Competitive
Is basically what you said. This is why CS:GO is dead while Dota has lots of attention. Hacking aside.
Ethan Torres
It's not that I can't handle the bantz, I just think it's funny that for whatever reason TF2 has this stank surrounding it.
Ethan Howard
sleep snug, smug
Eli Reyes
I have a bud i can alway play with idk
And noone has shit on my for playing tf2 except when i try to post a thread on Sup Forums
Gabriel Baker
In that case it's the lack of actual substantial updates (rip Soldier Vs. Demo etc. themes), merely stealing community items to SELL so on sv_pure you can't avoid seeing it, and most importantly the lack of players doing it in.
People can come back, if the population comes back, because they do something like update tc_hydro to not suck and release about 20 other maps in the same mode along with 3-4 team (+ VIP) modes
Nolan Jones
>Valve >competitive title
Valve is anti-competitive, pro-casual company so I do not believe a single word. They have never made a competitive game and have never made a game more competitive.
Evan Harris
CS:GO Dota TFuckingF 2
C'mon son, you can try harder that Valve.
Brandon Jackson
They're not scared of Riot but Blizzard steps up to one of their flagships and now they feel the need to update. Valve...
Chase Lewis
You're confusing a lucky acquisition of the LMAOBOX source code and the desperate attempt to monetize the competition scene with competence.
If you look at recent events, then you'll see that they're incompetent as ever. The reason they're still here is because the competition is non-existent.
Lincoln Russell
>Riot wat They make Dota 2 and Riot stepped up, while Valve can make money in a coma. Blizzard tried but are helpless to a significant update to TF2, they pretty much only have relevance to today to survive.
Josiah Walker
with respect to dota 2 and league, the product speaks for itself, valve isnt threatened by league at all
but as for tf2, there are some glaring issues, and it just needs some love. TF2 is a diamond in the rough right now that just needs a little more polish to be relevant again
Jeremiah Flores
I'm just waiting for a Cheater's Lament 2.0.
Chase Hernandez
>backburner heh fuck that shit
Hudson Cox
csgo is less competitive than 1.6 and far more casual. Not going to write all the issues cause I'm on my phone. Dota 2 is icefrog. You can be sure if it was valve the game would be much, much worse. TF2 was never competitive hence the massive changes they are apparently doing. But valve has never in their entire history made a game more competitive, only more casual so I have little hope.
You're a casual who has clearly never even tried to play any game at a high level. > >
Parker Morales
>They make Dota 2 and Riot stepped up
I know, Riot actually did things while Valve just fucked around for ages. DOTA 2 was a success in spite of Valve not because of them.
>Blizzard tried but are helpless to a significant update to TF2
That's absurd, Valve doesn't even believe that.
Wyatt Cox
>He still thinks Icefrog is alive/working for Valve qeq, the patch notes are practically ripped out of Reddit posts nowadays.
Christopher Anderson
Exactly, icefrog seems like he has less influence and the game gets worse. Valve is your enemy if you like competitive games.
Easton Jenkins
I wonder how much b4nny knows.
TF2 needs a lot of work on the inside. It's a broken mess of entities reused in a strange way.
Gavin Miller
>blizzard buys TF2 celebrities to play and shill Overwatch >valve buys the remaining celebrities
He knows jack shit.
Evan White
The biggest problems keeping tf2 relevant is support for newer graphics cards. I hear complaints from people with 980s getting sub 60 fps. They need spend time refactoring all of their spaghetti code
Jacob Jackson
>b4nny goes to valve to discuss balance
inb4 pyro nerfs
Austin Diaz
My only complaint about TF2 being played competitively was the maps. All maps were designed with 12v12 in mind so in 6v6 it took too much time to get to the point sometimes. If they re-design them a little bit by shrinking some areas in the competitive mode only it could be better than Overwatch
Nathan Hill
>buzz words: the post
Elijah Jones
those are legitimate criticisms though. And the code is the main difficulty in porting to source 2
Chase Fisher
Holy shit I envisioned this. >TF2 comics ended when the TFC team was revealed >Next update adds 9 new classes
Carson Hill
>Benny in charge of balance Expect Soldier or whatever class he's maining now to go through the roof in terms of OP and Pyro literally deleted from the game for being 'Overpowered' from a man that can't even reflect a rocket.
Angel Walker
>Next update adds 9 new classes Valve isn't retarded enough to do something like that, thankfully
Asher Miller
>nerfing a class that isn't even used in 6v6 competitive.
Why?
Brandon Kelly
How are they gonna fix the problem of 99% of the maps are designed for at least 9 v 9 and optimally 12 v 12, and putting 6 v 6 on them.
Noah Martinez
because b4nny hates pyro.
god forbid something thats a slight annoyance for explosive masterrace exists
Adam Ross
New maps designed for competitive 6v6 play. Competitive 6v6 versions of old maps.
Owen Butler
>That time he streamed himself playing Pyro and fucked up gloriously on every reflect while attempting to say Pyro is OP.
I laughed for years.
Isaac Brooks

>Finally after years of being on the backburner Pun intended?
Connor Martin
are they ever going to just make a fucking TF3?
Jace Evans
They should stop using Celerons.
>They need spend time refactoring all of their spaghetti code Yeah that will improve the framerate.
Eli Davis
Not until 2022
Charles Gutierrez
no the tf2 economy has more wealth invested in it than several nations
Elijah Adams
Valve cant balance jack shit all of those games have huge problems plus they are pants on head retarded when it comes to esport events.
Noah Hall
Thats nice, i look forward to it. But TF2's balanced is fucked at its core, for instance engi will never be comp viable, will have to wait for TF3 where they can do drastic changes to classes
Jacob Hughes

Jason Carter
I don't care about Match Making since it's going to be TF2 Lobby 3.0, but I hope there are class rebalances that aren't fucking retarded. Pyro is a mess right now and Heavy has too many unlocks that allow him to tank too much (even though said unlocks require him using weapons that are worse for damage).
Aaron Parker
>TFC Pyro >TFC Spy Who else?

and why have they waited until 2016 to do this.

Probably going to add some competitive maps (metalworks, replace sinshine with sunshine, GIVE US FUCKING VIADUCT PRO ALREADY YOU ASSHOLES).

Because Overwatch is getting popular so the retards at Valve are getting their shit together to get back everyone's attention
It's called competition.
Carter Lewis
>this gives me hope for HL3 t. a retard

The writer for HL2 left valve less than a year ago.
It's dead.
Gavin Perry
>be Valve >make amazing game >ruin it over years with terrible updates because there's no competitor >shit all over the community and drive them away >attract tons of 12 year olds, furies, bronys >community is now awful >a competitor comes along >finally start fixing things >"we had your back all along guys ;^)"
valvedrones will defend this. Valve repeatedly and consistantly shat on their playerbase and used it as a testing ground for all sorts of economy and f2p shit. I had 1.5k hours in tf2 in 2011 and used to defend Valve to this hills, but they can fuck right off if they think i'm coming back. The only reason they give a shit is because there's now a competitor.
Benjamin Ramirez
It's a good thing. Miss Pauling VIP defense moode WHEN
Levi Parker
honestly I'm fine with this I'm pretty good at the game and I'm sick of just pubstomping
also, CTF better get competitive support. fuck attack/defense and zone control
Kayden Davis
The sentiment is shared with a lot of top players mate. We overwatch now. Fuck gaben and his hats.
Carson Brooks
I quite like valve and honestly I agree with what you're saying, I'm glad they're fixing it whatever the reason and don't really give a fuck about the agenda or reason, as long as I'll have to great game it could have always been.
Nathan King
Playing overwatch felt like playing vanilla tf2 with a modern coat of paint. Feels really good.
The only people i hear about "switching" to overwatch are clockwork, STAR_, jerma, and clockwork isnt even placing well.
I think the emphasis on team composition and ult timings as opposed to raw skill is offputting
Ayden Rivera
>Worse netcode with every "class" literally only having one weapon and a pocket uber/kritz
Nah mate. Not with those shit game modes.
The only thing that fucked TF2 WAS the community dipshit >24/7 any map >32 players with zero requirements on anyone to participate, resulting in about 5 players actually trying to play and they're a stack to boot >Payload stomped out A/D or CP for maps played >Retarded comp rulesets even before weapon updates.
David Williams
I'm pissed that F2P killed community servers except for those shitty skial ones where you can pay to win.
Chase Rogers
>muh overwatch Can all shills please leave already?
This is a TF2 thread and Overwatch has nothing to do with TF2.
Liam Miller
Yeah i'll still probably check it out. I'll admit I used to be a valvedrone but ever since the mannconomy update I grew less and less trusting of them and now barely trust them at all.
I loved TF2, I booted it up last year some time and the only servers that were populated were fucking Valve servers and skial, which aren't much better. All those great servers and great communities either empty or just gone.
Jackson Wright
This game honestly run it's course. Valve killed it with the f2p cancer and the mannconomy tumor. It was screwed from start because I bet if mannconomy was not successful, they would have shelved TF2 years ago. I had so much fun with this game during the first few rears but the breaking point was when all the loyal fans got was a shitty hat and it opened the floodgates to f2p. Even if you played since the beta; here is your shitty hat. Was heart breaking.
Bentley Wilson
>Hats ruined the game >I'm so mad about not getting a decent hat for being loyal
You are the cancer, the blind unthinking retard that just hates and spites about petty things that affect nothing you would actually care about.
Adrian Jones
Say what you want but I haven't touched the game in years due to those things. This might be news to you but most people don't like getting kicked in the dick or take it up the ass by gaben
Lucas Davis
Yeah, most TF2 haters are like that.
Christopher Collins
What should've Gabe given you, when he made it F2P?
Andrew Flores
The game wasn't exactly full price to begin with, it was the HLDM addition to a long since retired HL2 and Portal 1 Grow the fuck up.
Owen Miller
Team composition isn't a real gripe from TF2 players switching to OW or playing it on the side since most, if not all, of Invite-level players can play at least low-mid IM even with their worst 6s class. Ults. controlling the pace of the game is the real problem, and characters with really good Ults have their place as being top-tier set in stone and character that are great on paper with shitty/easily counterable Ults. (ie. Junkrat) will be doomed into the mid-tier limbo.
>Retarded comp rulesets even before weapon updates. I don't have much of a problem with any of the banlists in comp TF2. HL blacklists are based around how much they fuck up the pace of the game or being disgustingly overpowered (crit a cola, Pomson Darwin's), along with action items that can freeze character models or have sound cues which would actually be disadvantageous to use. 6s bans are determined by how much they slow down the pacing of the game, unless you want a full time Engie throwing down minis in a 6v6 and making the lives of roamers even more of a living hell or running Machina Sniper and GRU Heavy to mid while being boosted by Disciplinary Action on Process.
Ian Allen
Your a fucking moron. The first wave of hats didn't break anything about the game. Over time they didn't care about the artstyle no more but the first few waves of hats we're nice cosmetics. The first wave of new weapons offered a different playstyle for the class you were playing as.
Jason Foster
The scout update was trash.
Wyatt Young
god I hate soldier players
they're all such colossal faggots about their fucking class
>dude shoot at my feet for kills lmao >muh rollouts
Ryan Howard
>t. airshot medic (who's never played quake 3)
Thomas Thomas
My money back
Colton Lewis
Scout update was the beginning of the end. It wasn't that shit itself but it set a precedent for gimmicky weapons instead of sidegrades. Although the sandman was complete bullshit, but it got nerfed immediately iirc.
Everyone's a faggot about their class desu. I was a scout and solly player in 6s and other sollys were generally less faggy than other scouts though. Pyros are the worst though, they have one skill based thing about the class and act like it's the hardest to execute, most indepth mechanic ever invented.
Bentley Turner
Not all the class updates were absolute trash. Although when the Backburner gave you +50 health and was powerful minus the airblast that promoted not learning airblast but W+M1, that was a shit week.
Or when Natasha brought your ass down to a snails crawl from halfway across Granery and if the Team was communicating and competent, you were just dead. That weapon was absolute no fun to Scouts and anyone. Krits Natasha was even worse because you couldn't even escape the ass beating.
Or how about when the Ambassador was a literal aimbot for the first few days? Or when the Dead Ringer in the hands of a competent Spy made him damn near unstoppable and you had to go to great lengths to rid yourself of that annoyance?
But as for the Scout... Yah. FaN helped you get to other places and blast people back, Bonk helped you get through defenses but I hates seeing 5+ of that class on every server
Justin Price
>CS:GO is dead CS:GO and CS as a whole is bigger than ever and continues to grow.
Dylan Fisher
CS:GO is fueled by miniature jews fishing for skins and gambling. It's a casino.
Dota 2 has a fucked economy from the start so it's fueled purely by russians playing a free game and The Invitational highlighting you too, can suddenly become a rich slav!
Keep in mind yeah, Dota is also free.
Isaiah Campbell
I never really understood why Valve was so slow on supporting competitive TF2.
It probably has to do with what they said before, which is that they want to try "different approaches for different games so that that if one fails, the others don't fail too."
But that seems stupid to me. What component of TF2 would be damaged or jeopardized by the presence of a competitive mode and support? That's probably not the reason then, but I don't know what would be.
Eli Walker
Pyro has a lot of items that just made/make no sense >This is a weapon that is advantageous if you aggressively flank your enemies! >Give it 50 health because ???
>Let's give pyro a melee weapon that's good for destroying sentries since the flamethrower is slow about it >Nevermind it's bad at that. Let's just have it knock off sappers to further pigeon-hole pyro into a supporting role, because fuck spies who manage to get past a dedicated defense pyro and actually stab an engineer and sap his shit
William Turner
>"Step by step TF2 will start looking more like the modern competitive title we all know it deserves to be" Oh, so they're finally nerfing Soldier and Demo and letting everyone grenade jump? Took these hacks long enough.
Ryan James
It seems like they're releasing new cases every other week now a days. Wouldn't really agree with you on that CS:GO part
Daniel Miller
...
Caleb Gomez
>being this new It gave 50 health because it had no airblast.
Also fuck you. The game is called TEAM Fortress 2, don't get mad if the enemy team uses their strengths together to wreck your shit.
Cameron Sullivan
>mfw TF2 console release
Just kidding. But it'll have to happen once they send out their biggest update, right? Then Valve can just rebalance pre-existing items and add shit to the Mann Co. store via small patches and updates.
Connor Cooper
What a mouthbreather, reflecting is piss easy. Then again, what to expect from someone who still plays TF2, mains Soldier and believes in competitive TF2 without a massive rework to make it more like TFC.
Robert Torres
Valve loves inclusion and hates exclusion. By nature, competition is exclusionary. Valve has always hated competitive modes and are trying to get closer to blizzards level of casualization
Angel Gray
Until Robin took over and they stopped caring for anything, they cared a lot about roles and things having purpose too, to the point Demoman no longer has a stack of dynamite and classes don't have grenades.
If they were competitive oriented however, spy wouldn't be useless and neither would pyro.
>Spy actually y'know spies >Motion sensor alt to sapper in addition to surprise buttstabbing >Can mark enemies so they're visible through walls, but they speak out loud so pyros can find them. >Pyros get a much wider and longer cone of fire that lets them jet corners, at the expense of ammo consumption being a problem so once they've sanitised an area if there's no ammo around they gotta leave, giving spies opportunity, unless they sit on a dispenser all day. >To which spies can counter by going into wallhack mode
Dominic Bell
There was a console release on the Xbox 360. But it died like 2 weeks later and now 10 year old British Kids Roam around the dustbowls screaming "CUNTWANKER"
