>Bethesda is not sending copies of NuDoom to reviewers before release
This game must be even worse than I imagine. When's the last time this happened to a triple A release? They're clearly scared it's going to get hammered.
Bethesda is not sending copies of NuDoom to reviewers before release
Wasn't this also the case with Wolfenstein TNO?
That's a good thing though.
Pre-release reviews and 'free' review copies are shitty practices that need to die.
>They're clearly scared it's going to get hammered.
I doubt it, they probably just exhausted their shilling budget and the clickbait journalists were already on the fence and undoubtedly demanding better payoffs than usual. The fact that they made an issue about no review copies should validate any suspicions on the matter, trying to make an example out of Bethseda like these fags have any power over the industry other than eating the scraps off the table. Makes me miss the days of pic related back when people gave a shit.
Doom 4 looks pretty decent, multiplayer could be faster and it would be nice if they buffed everything but the sniper. Hopefully the backlash from the beta reached the outsourced team that made it.
I think they said somewhere that they were gonna do some tweaks to the multiplayer, so hopefully that's good
You do realize that they didn't send review copies to anyone, right? Not just "clickbait journalists" like you're implying.
All they need to do is crank up the speed to the level of the Haste power up, buff everything but the sniper, and give us jump control. Now you got a fucking multiplayer worth playing (at least for the month people play it).
I wish they would get rid of those useless perks though
.What reviewer isn't a clickbait journalist or has brought down to their level? What magazine actually shits on major releases like they did before? If there is a website or a magazine that actually gives fair and unpaid reviews please tell us about it.
>Bethesda didn't send copies to reviewers
>Lots of people are getting the game early and have streamed the whole thing
I'm not sure how to feel about this
Why not just release it digitally right now? What's there to lose?
>Lots of people are getting the game early and have streamed the whole thing
requesting evidence
>Lots of people are getting the game early and have streamed the whole thing
links please
BTW Does anyone else like that game?
jesus christ go outside of Sup Forums once in a while, tno was extremely popular
I liked it quite a bit, though it wasn't as good as Escape from Butcher Bay
It was extremely popular on Sup Forums too
>m-muh gamergate
A few of them got removed but these are still up somehow:
youtube.com

Earlier I saw someone beat the final boss and I'm just gonna say the ending fucking blows. Spoilers is the final boss
Nope. Reviews came out for that the day before it came out. Bethesda's official excuse for no reviews before launch is that the snapmap server isn't online and without it "the experience isn't complete", like a level editor is going to make or break this game.
There's actually a good amount of games that do this. Like I think Shadow of Mordor and Wolfenstein the New Order. It doesn't mean the game is shit but that could be it.
I couldn't finish The New Order, it bored me to tears.
I did beat The Old Blood though. It at it's fun moments but I don't think I'll ever replay it again.
>a bethesda game is going to be shit
Stop the presses.
Bethesda didnt develop this
Also every single stream I've seen so far has been of the PS4 version. Curious why.
>Doom 4 looks pretty decent
Game "journalists" are faggots for sure but let's not pretend that Doom (Current Year) looks anything other than a shooter for nu-males. I played the beta and it was shockingly bad.
I mean I expected to be disappointed but the actual level of slowness and just plain boring shootin' was not something I was ready for.
>FInal boss isn't Cyber-D
What
Hey look man i'm really sorry.
Uh the Spider Mastermind was the final boss in the original.
E1: Barons of Hell
E2: Cyberdemon
E3: Spider Mastermind
They're still publishing it.
You don't need to be directly involved in order to fuck something up.
Though no early reviews probably means they didn't use 90% of the budget to pay for reviews like Fallout 4, so maybe there's still hope.
The beginning of The New Order is probably the worst opening in video game history.
Then it got interesting once you went to the mental institution.
Then it got amazingly fucking boring once you met up with that group of resistance people or whatever the fuck. And the game just threw stupid tools at you that added nothing to the gameplay.
Then I got so bored at the next section I quit. And the weapon design was fucking terrible.
because people managed to get PS4 copies early and its easy to stream on there?
Wolfenstein 2009 was better and I'm the only person who thinks that
user, I'm pretty sure that Spider Mastermind isn't the final boss.
>When's the last time this happened to a triple A release?
zenimax is definitely not AAA
That's right, bring up gamergate. That's the only defense you shills have when you get called out for being soulless corporate mercenaries. Some goofy shit that you pricks helped astroturf on here that was created to help enact internet censorship laws.
Requesting the Zoey Quinn's creampie cleaner Kotaku pic
Yeah they're definitely going for the Halo audience since 343 dropped the ball and nobody owns an xbone anyway. Will reserve judgement for friday.
>wolfenstein
>dishonored
>the evil within
>rage
>brink
As far as you know games published by bethesda should be at least decent and by far better than games they actually develop
Really excited for Friday to try this game out. Enjoyed the betas a lot
It is.
After the streamer beat the mastermind you get a brief dialogue with the AI robot thing that says something along the lines of "I can't kill you, but we will meet again" and then the credits roll.
It's such a fucking shitty ending
>It's such a fucking shitty ending
looks like they're being faithful to the originals then
I beat Knee Deep in the Dead on Ultraviolence, does it get harder?
at least from the streams I've seen look like you move somewhat faster than the multiplayer beta, which while faster than most modern shooters was still pretty fucking glacial.
Arkham Knight
I gave up on TNO after the London boss battle. The asylum part was cool, I'll admit, and the Planetarium was neat, but everything else bored me to tears.
The weapons looked like ass and were way too big. Dual wielding the shotguns was like covering the bottom of your screen.
I guess, but at least the original ending had a funny twist to it.
That's the spider mastermind!? oh...I expected so much more.
>zenimax is definitely not AAA
only 2 of those games are decent though
>the evil within
>rage
>brink
yeah because those games were so successful
Yes, I loved it, one of my favorite shooters in awhile
Wasn't the doom 4 shilling and damage control so strong they've gotten people banned here of all places, for posting webms of the leaked alpha?
At least it does a lot more this time around and doesn't die in like 3 BFG shots.
Not the same user but most people who say it looks good are talking about the singleplayer and not the outsourced multiplayer that uses completely different rules.
If you think that was shilling and damage control compared to goot not trying to hear from certain lawyers you are a moron
Doom's story was never important so they at least got that part right. Shame about everything else.
Hey mate
Direct your rage at the kikes, not me
True the story wasn't important but they could have at least made the ending better. I mean after defeating the big bad it's pretty fucking lame for an NPC to just appear and kick your ass, while saying "see you in the sequel, shithead"
So what was wrong with the beta and why does everyone think this is gonna suck? (I'm not challenging anyone or anything I'm just legitimately curious, I didn't play the beta btw)
Its just worse than quake live in every possible way except graphically
But people who think the games gonna suck based on the outsourced mp are fucking morons
On it's own the game will probably be another TNO - a decent FPS that everyone will overhype and wrongly describe as "oldschool"
>Bethesda is not sending copies of NuDoom to reviewers before release
>no paid reviews before release
this is much more and better than what i expected from bethesda
more like they poured all their shekels into fallout and elder scroll online.
As a Doom game it will probably suck because it's bloated with modern FPS cancer - perks, upgrades, glory kills, canned animations etc.
The original is so fun and timeless because it's mostly simple and doesnt do anything to interrupt the gameplay
>New game based on that DOOM movie
>No Karl Urban or The Rock
Oh yeah, there was a DOOM movie...
>lol no fall damage guys!
>insta-kill endless pits
can this shit get ANY worse anymore?
I just bought a copy of DOOM at Walmart. Did they make a mistake or something?
I like all the little details I've seen in the game so far.
When you kill an Imp that's winding up his fireball, instead of disappearing, he'll drop it, or it'll release mid-wind up and go flying into the distance.
If you shoot out the Caco's eye, he starts flying around like a fucking madman and rapid fires all over the place like a retard.
Pinkies are ridiculously fucking fast, but often lose their footing, and when trying to take really sharp turns, will often slip and slide across the floor, trip and fall on their faces, or stumble and smash face first into a wall.
I think it looks really fun.
Doom had plenty of endless pits, though 2 had them a bit less with teleports to get out. Difference is you die instantly in this game while previously you'd slowly die in green shit
PS4 versions got sent out early on accident in most stores.
You can literally go home and play it right now.
As far as I know, a few XBox and PC copies have popped up here and there too, but both of those are still locked, which is why the only gameplay we have right now, is from people with the PS4 version.
>almost dies to a zombie guy
>pokes it few times with pistol to get the glory-kill
>instant 65hp drop
jesus
Oh dang. I got it for the xbone. If its locked...there go my plans for the evening. Fingers crossed?
I know its suffering from CoD fps shit, but Ive been a DOOM fan for a long time. I dont want to miss the first one in 12 fucking years.
>know its suffering from CoD fps shit
That's only the multiplayer, user.
And the multiplayer was outsourced to a notoriously shitty company.
>When's the last time this happened to a triple A release?
GTA5 had a review embargo
Also why would you ever buy games day 1? Even without advance copies there will be reviews (including user reviews) up on launch day, just buy the game the following day
You're not.
wolf 2009 is horribly underrated, and definitely better than TNO.
KDITD is literally the "tutorial" section.
I personally enjoy the next two much more.
Agree with you. Raven knows how to make enjoyable FPS games. Now they're stuck making literal COD shit
>guy fires a 3-round burst from the shotgun, at point blank range, to a possessed guy's face
>still alive and kicking
seriously ?
I mean SERIOUSLY?
Are all the guns now merely a warm-up tools for you to beat the shit out of everything? Fuck, it's SW2013 all over again!
nope. possessed only need 2 hit to be staggered and a quarter hit to be killed
the shotgun is a close range weapon now because you have the railgun for long range. it uses the same ammo pool as the plasma.
Why? It's standard for movie and music for instance. This way they can get the review out before the product hits the shelves which is a good thing for the consumer.
The problem with videogames is that most reviewers are garbage and you can't trust them but early copies are not to blame IMO.
i remember this magazine cover. pretty sure it was one of the first things I ever fapped to.
A review embargo is absolutely not the same thing. It just means you can't publish reviews before the game comes out.
No early copies on the other hand means that there won't be any reviews for a few days *after* release, which is a good thing for the publisher if their game is awful. That's why it's generally considered a bad sign.
Not sure why they'd do it for neo-Doom though, I'm not super excited for it but it doesn't look like a terrible game either.
The PROBLEM with video games is that it often takes dozens of hours to thoroughly look through what it has to offer not to mention any sort of PvP critique is off the limits. This means outlets will rush out their reviews often missing critical or at least interesting parts. Video games are not comparable to other forms of media.
>No early copies on the other hand means that there won't be any reviews for a few days *after* release
There will be comprehensive reviews day 1. Maybe not professional reviews, but many people will play 6+ hours and write about it. User reviews, especially averaging from many user reviews, are 99% of the time better than than publication reviews, too
>No early copies on the other hand means that there won't be any reviews for a few days *after* release, which is a good thing for the publisher if their game is awful. That's why it's generally considered a bad sign.
The game is already being streamed. There will be even more streams, LPs and impressions on launch, Steam user reviews, etc. etc.
This is a literal non-issue unless you want to preorder for whatever retarded reason

But not giving them early copies makes this issue worse since if they get the copy on release day like everybody else they'll have to rush to get the review out as fast as possible so that it remains a little bit relevant. If they have a week or so before release to write the review they have to excuse not to play the game thoroughly (although I'm sure many still won't).
Maybe for games like Doom you can actually get a decent opinion after 6 hours of gameplay but for many games that can be misleading. But unfortunately it's still often better than most "professional" reviews out there, which is the real issue IMO.
I was just pointing out why having no early review copies is generally a bad sign. I'm pretty sure bethesda doesn't want their game streamed at this point, it's just that they can't really do anything about it. Besides those streams have probably a much smaller reach to the mainstream audience than a proper review on one of the big sites.
thats some destiny tier shit
>the real game starts at level 20
HAH
Not if the industry, as it currently stands, is pay-rolled by pre-orders. If you expect your potential consumers to be willing to put down money on a product months before they can get their hands on it its expected to give them assurances that they didn't waste that money.
Who the fuck am I kidding though "gamers" are the best thing to happen to capitalism because they're all fucking idiots who never learn and will shovel shit into their mouths until the end of time
UACULTRA
SCYTHE2
HELLONEARTHSTARTERPACK
>t-they are j-just sick of shills in the industry! Not wanting to give out review copies is an amazing thing! It makes them soo based!
I can't wait for this shilling wave to be over
Music reviews are absolute garbage and have been since Rolling Stone was shat onto the scene.
Movie reviews get denied press screenings all the time, and even if they didn't, they have this thing called "journalistic integrity" and have denied gifts and slammed studios for giving them expensive shit. Also, $15 =/= $60.
You left out that multiplayer servers won't be online either. Not that we didn't already shit all over that
>There will be comprehensive reviews day 1
lol.
even if there were reviews day 1 its already two late.
>User reviews
And then THOSE are going to be bombed and Sup Forums is going to shout about how it was votebombed/PC gamers are entitled/user reviews don't matter
Sounds very familiar to the ways enemies reacted to shots in RAGE, like how a guy would be running along a wall and a bullet would cause him to fall flat on his ass.
Glad to see some of that game's mechanics carried over. Did the MEGATEXTURES carry over as well?
>look on google to see if his height is still listed as 6'2"
>they removed it
I thoroughly enjoyed slaughtering nazis whill duel welding shotguns that shot ball bearings. Especially when the hallway was crammed full of them.
i'd buy that over nu-dewm anyday.
UAC Military Nightmare
Right after the doom leak, the shills are disappearing
Not surprised at all
>even if there were reviews day 1 its already two late.
I was under the impression pre-orders were usually a small part of a game's total sales
If this game is shit it will be known ASAP, you don't need to sweat it
>tries to be edgy and badass
>lifts the same old demon designs straight out of old Doom for the throwback pandering factor (because they know they can't make original content to match)
>slower than Doom
>context-sensitive "executions" (press X to finish demon)
>elements of 21st century gameification are at work, putting more bullshit in the game to keep you busy than you want to deal with (pic related)
>by all means, it is Doom in name only
>multiplayer feels like some 80/20 mix of Halo and Unreal Tournament with nothing whatsoever to keep it fresh and iteresting
>people STILL defend this shit game
