thank god, maybe they'll stop spending money for viral marketing here too
>Plastic on-toy gated DLC
It could only end in failure
they made shitty optimized games anyway
Wish this happened before Inside Out or Zootopia came out...
How would those games be like?
>The mouse can't into gaming
hehehe...
On one hand I've never played disney infinity and it didn't seem like something I'd enjoy anyway.
On the other I always enjoyed Toybox Tuesday streams so I'm worried about those now.
It was a really neat concept but they had no idea what they were doing and couldn't understand that 'kid/family friendly' didn't have to mean simplistic.
Fucking awesome
So Skylanders prints a mint, and those Amiibo toys print money, but Disney, with the power of Star Wars, Marvel, and its vault can't manage to even break even doing the exact same thing these guys do?
How do you manage to NOT make money with Disney property, holy shit.
Does this mean no more movie games?
Keep your Brendan Fraser shit out
How about they go back to Capcom on their hands and knees and apologize for abandoning MvC
Official statement disneyinteractive.com
No
Maybe now they license thier IP out again and we can get marvel vs capcom 4
I wonder if the people saying this is good news realize this doesn't mean they're going back to the capcom days of the 90's and more than likely now there's just gonna be fucking nothing involving disney in games beyond kingdom hearts and some mobile shit.
>MvC4 happens
>Roster are exclusively characters that appear in MCU and Street Fighter/RE
Simply put, it's just too spread thin of userbase. Most disney fans only care for one of a select type of movies they make. Making a product that encompases is just unecissary costs since users will tend to only care about a small segment of their physical dlc product line.
Welp, hopefully the guys behind Infinity can get jobs
Their business model was flawed, and their target demo are more likely to buy specific characters(Spider-Man, Darth Vader) instead of fucking Baloo. It was an interesting experiment for sure, even with the copycat Skylanders model.
Kids were already getting over sky landers and the infinity games offered little in the way of challenge, literally designed so 3 year olds could play them. Amiibos work on a wider range of games, although I am surprised they didn't draw more in terms of people buyingbig name characters just for the figure. Still, I got Venom, Rocket, Hulkbuster, Tink and Violet, I'm happy.
>yfw you see disney infinity at Goodwill for $5
I bought the vanellope fig and came on it
Jones being at disneyland is probably the best place to for him to hear the news.
Oh no...
They got a deal with nintendo to handle their games and toys
Good, all that shit needs to crash, leaving the greedy suits in high debt.
Not Rapunzel? She's so cute.
>disney infinity
who cares?
I honestly thought Disney infinity was making shitloads of money for them...
Didn't see tangled and her eyes are too big for her iris/pupils.
its okay I only wanted the Captain America one and got it you may now die Infinity
MICKEY MOUSE ON SUICIDE WATCH
I thought Disney had successful mobile games, are they done making those too?
>Nintendo's handful of iconic characters but mostly obscure Amiibo characters beat out the biggest animated movie, superhero and sci-fi series line up of all time.
Looks like the Toys to Life bubble has popped, especially since it felt like Infinity was the strongest of the available franchises
But Lego Dimensions is designed so that little kids can play it too.
Although it has the weird thing of being a kid game yet most of the franchises it uses are appealing to 18+
>Play to life bullshit with Marval characters and Star wars.
>Not making boatloads.
What the fuck? Maybe I'm biased since I've blown $1000 on amiibo's but seriously?
Those puzzle games cost fuck all to make and bring in millions.
Dedicated fans will always beat out apathetic consumers. That said the animal crossing Amiibos aren't doing so hot.
The entire sector is dying, including Amiibo. The fad is over.
What's Disney Infinity?
I actually think the figures are pretty good too. Stylized and designed around the limitations of the manufacturing process so they don't look cheap.
But what's gonna happen to Johnny V now?
What if there was a Warhammer 40k skylanderish video game
Skylanders but with Disney characters (which also includes Star Wars and Marvel chacters)
>her eyes are too big for her iris/pupils.
Slightly. Though I did not buy her for her face.
Thank fuck, maybe now we can get an ACTUAL Zootopia game instead of just tossing everything to Infinity and calling it a day.
I still like the figures, though.
Wonder if this means Disney will put more focus on Kingdom Hearts 3.
Wanna know what their problem was?
They were always available.
No artificial scarcity like Nintendongs
>be Disney
>buy Star Wars
>destroy EU and all IPs connected to it
>make exclusive Deal with the Cancer of gaming aka EA
>only 1 Star Wars Game so far which was a DLC ridden casualized piece of shit with the only other one coming up being another LEGO abomination
Thank god that we didnt get a true BF3, new Galactic Battleground, Republic Commando 2, Jedi Knight 3 or new Rouge Squadron
I think Amiibo is a different case because in many situations they're the only way to get an affordable and usually nice looking(outside of the lower quality of 1st wave) figure of the characters.
A number of them have just never stopped selling.
>the rabbit.
>Activision's face when
Games Workshop are too protective to let the boardgame and games crossover that much.
There's a reason there hasn't been a warhammer/40k game that uses the game rules for its mechanics.
Nope, it's over. No more console games forever. There goes the flame of hope for an IO game that isn't a shitty bubble shooter clone.
>Ant-Man in MCU
I thought Star Wars at the very least would keep it afloat by itself
furries are one of the biggest cancers in the west. you are partly responsible for the decline of western civilization
>There's a reason there hasn't been a warhammer/40k game that uses the game rules for its mechanics.
What about Final Liberation?
Shit I meant MvC
Never really played the boardgame because I'm a poorfag from a third world, but isn't Armageddon kinda like it?
XD
Why does Disney hate video games so much?
I find it weird Disney stopped doing tie in games.
Olaf's quest sold in bucket loads and its a piece of shit.
How much would a well made Frozen 2 game sell?
Disney is old media who naturally hates new media
Man, he's gonna be crushed. I don't think it will be as bad as when GT was ended though, since he cried on stream. Easy Allies is awesome though.
>It's a Kylo Ren dissaproves of rabbit and fox fucking in his vicinity episode
Neat, I might pick up a couple of figs for hot gluing once they hit the clearance isle. Any recommendations? I know nothing about this Jewish shit, is there a Star Vs one?
Hahah! Maybe now walmart can expand their amiibo stock. Or the NX isn't supporting this.
Cuz they release shitty casual shovelware and expect to sell billions but it sells like shit.
Maybe they fear it and think it's a threat to their business.
Due to it producing things like Mario. Where Mario at one point became more recongisable than Mickey Mouse.
Does that mean Marvel vs. Capcom 4 might actually happen?
This is kind of bad news in the long term, it means kids aren't getting into consoles and dedicated video game systems like they used to. How will traditional gaming live on if it ages out due to kids going over to mobile shit or watching youtube?
Link and Pikachu are obvious, but Zelda's not one I'd have considered. I can see Cloud wiping the floor with everything outside the top 10 though.
>How will traditional gaming live on
Traditional gaming is already dead but will be revived via a true indie scene eventually when the big shots fail and have to branch out into other things
That's on Disney, Mickey hasn't been used in anything forever, besides those shitty 3d cgi cartoons on some disney channel.
That can be blamed on Disney barely doing anything with him in decades.
the actual figures for disney infinity were pretty good quality too.
kind of a shame the games were shit though
Disney in general sucks dick.
>literally designed so 3 year olds could play it
Have you not played Skylanders? My nephew asked me to play with him, and it goes far beyond casual and enters "holy shit please kill me this is so fucking boring" territory.
>Zootopia game
>It's a GTA clone but you're the good guys busting criminals around the city, like those True Crime games
>Explore all the districts
>Tackle the fuck out of criminals with Judy and her powerful kick hop
>Wise talk your way though L.A Noire style conversations as Nick in sting operations
WHY
DOESN'T
IT
EXIST
Final liberation was a bastardized version of Epic.
They seem fine with their spin offs getting more faithful games
How is Skylanders and Lego Dimensions doing, are they dying out like Infinity?
It wouldn't even have to be well made to sell well, but on the off chance that it did poorly it could be seen to hurt the brand. Interestingly there used to be A LOT of tie-in games until about 8-9 years ago. Now you either have to spend less than $10 million or more than $60 to turn a decent profit, and even that's a gamble.
Yiffe
kill you'reself
Tie-ins have more or less moved to Mobile. Mobile is the perfect place for low effort shit like that, the returns on money compared to investment are insane.
they could stop vidya forever considering they make a billion $ for 60 million investment in a shitty rapunzel reskin every year.
They only went to game when the 2000's deluded themselves into beliving gaming will be a bigger industry than cinema forever. But china happened.
Welp. This leaves Skylanders, Amiibo and Lego Dimensions.
I always felt Disney Infinity was the weakest of all toy to life lineups. Shame, because it looked kind of neat. I feel bad for Avalanche as well.
I also feel this was due to Disney's incompetence to balance dev costs and marketing.
The real sad news is that Disney completely dropped investing on videogame studios. Some of my childhood defining games were made by Disney Interactive (RIP).
Oh well.
Not him but I do want a 50/60s cop game again. LA Noire was a thing I guess but not really what I had in mind.
>Disney is used to being the absolute top dog in the animated film industry
>they enter the video industry
>they can't dominate it like the animated film industry
>they're not even considered relevant at all
>they can't figure out why so they just phone it in with shitty shovelware games before they eventually remove themselves from the industry completely
>Got wrecked by amiibo
Lofty kek
yiff in hell
>people actually bought these so their kids could play the shitty game
>not just for the high quality figures
>all those PC users that bought the codes online
>once the servers go down they will have absolutely nothing to show for the money they spent
Haah waaw.
The recent Mickey shorts are pretty good
Skylanders is fucking massive and not going anywhere anytime soon
That lego game I don't know
The difference is, Skylanders is actually a pretty okay game and amiibo are tied to much better games
Do they have strip joints in Zootopia?
Would the Mini-scenes in the strip club from GTA5 be the same thing...but with Gazelles?
if you hate Mickey maybe. That shit is just spiting on the icon's face with no real depth. gross humour, shit spongebob rip off at best.
