How is your space empire doing?

How is your space empire doing?

what is the closest game to this that can be played on a serious toaster?
I am talking about celeron, 2GB, intel HD, 13 inch monitor type of toaster..

I have yet to find a space 4x game with a good UI. So not very well.

I can't even start the fucking game. It appears for a second on the taskbar and then crashes. Reinstalled windows, updated everything, still same shit. Fuck. Any ideas? Did anyone deal with this bullshit problem?

Distant Worlds: Universe maybe?
I am also pondering this.

How many stars is that? Looks kind of small. I went with 600 and a spiral galaxy.

400, my laptop is below minimum requirements so I decided to not take risks

>Science ship dissapears to another dimension
>Appears later with half the crew missing
>The resto of the crew appear later in an alien ship
This is going to bite my ass later, isn't it?

>google it
>update drivers
>try windowed mode
>run as admin
>check background processes

Not great, I can't zoom out or in because my MWheel is fucked.

How do I host a LAN game?
There is only one option for Host Game. I want it to be LAN only, no internetfags.

what are the different space races in this like

Better ready your asshole for a dimensional incursion that could destroy everyone in the galaxy.

...

I send them to look at an anomality in a Gas Giant and they crushed themselves

I've been hearing that this game is great and that its shallow garbage

which of the two is it, really?

wow
its literally Civ

evil and /good and /slightly less good

Pirate it and find out user, if you like it, buy it. I do this process with every paradox game.

Its downloading right now my man

just wanna know what to expect

>finally meet another empire
>fanatical religious purifiers
>meet another empire on the other side of mine relative to the first empire I discovered
>fanatical religious purifiers
Oh boy

I don't know, probably EU4 in space?

you gonna get purged

Mine is the opposite I got a fanatic xenophile/pacifist then another pacifist/collective on the other

I wonder what would happen if you set a huge galaxy to just have two players
I wanna see a total annihilation tier war

Guys im kinda confused. EU 4 player here. In EU 4, one could simply get a big army and start invading other countries. In this game, fleet limit is very close to each other (Comparing nations). Is there an effective way to outpower other nations militarily?

Wouldn't the player that colonizes 40% of the planets just win outright? It's a win condition.

>We just had a small design meeting for what new portraits we should make for DLC for Stellaris. While brainstorming ideas, we just thought.. Why not ask you guys what you would like to see in a DLC ?

>Blorg is already included of course, but perhaps someone that could love them?

>They have to fit within the 6 phenotypes we have today, so no plants, rocks, elementals though..
Lol

How the bloody hell do i build cruisers? I have a level 2 spaceport and all i can do is build corvettes and the usual civilian stuff. Any ideas?

You have to build a level 4 spaceport to unlock cruisers iirc

so im stuck with corvettes until then? goddamn, thanks anyway

you get destroyers at level 3 though

>tfw another empire uses the same namelist as you so you end up seeing planets and systems in their empire with the same names as ones which you have in your empire

Gang up on them with your allies.

I had an issue for many games on an ATI card where I had to change something in that tool that runs in the task tray. Changed it to allow for full usage of the GPU.

It was strange too, I could start Europa 4, ARK, Dota no problem, but simple shit like Darkest Dungeon and FTL wouldn't run at all, just show up in the running list of processes and then immediately go away.

>Friend showing me this game from other YouTubers who are apparently skilled at it
>Barely do anything on their planets, miss out on resources that they expained to me how to get and see when you've gotten them
>Fart around and not colonize them
>One guy guy out of controlled AI and had a Fallen Empire take over the other side of the system and then had some sort of outbreak

How do these faggots get so many views with being so shit at it. One faggot, think his name is Spanish like Arumbo or something just not stopped complained about the fucking game.

Not even sure if I want to play it. Looks fun though. Gonna wait for patches.

I've been using hyperspace travel for a while, seems ok. But then I tried warp travel, and it's literally like hyperspace travel with no restrictions on what system I can jump to and hardly any wind up time. Does warp travel have any shortcomings over hyperspace travel?

How do i make amoeba ships i reasearched the tech

Did the inside of the ship look like this?

>My neighbor is a fanatic pacifist
>Be repugnant
>i declare him my rival
>i insult him
>Still he hasnt declared war on me
Kek

I struggled to get more minerals so I took a break after approx 2 hours of game-play, I enjoy this game very much - but as a total noob to series this is exhausting.

This screencap is great but that movie was lame as fuck.
I'm convinced anyone posting this is just trying to bait people who like 40k into wasting their time on this movie.

Is this one of those games with ten thousand needless menus. Or is it actually fun?

Hyperspace is faster but it's literally garbage on the ring maps
Wormholes are nice, with big reach and they have big advantage because you can keep more nice things on you ship and not warp/hyperspace drive
Warp is just easy to use

cucked

It's better than Civ, whole lot less depth than EU4 or any of the other GS titles. I think my major complaint is there's simply not a lot of detail in some aspects of the game like trade, religion, etc. Also, I get that a galaxy is probably going to be pretty sparse on population since we've been looking for life IRL and can't find signs anywhere, but I'd have rather had lots of small, fragmented planets throughout space than several large empires doing a land grab all throughout the early game. Perhaps they should've had an FTL travel phase between being stuck within your home system and freely warping from system to system -- maybe something like warping to another system is very expensive and slow for a while, so you can travel, but you won't be jumping through systems any more than once a year with each ship. Would also explain why you could have neighbors of your same race inhabiting a lot of nearby worlds that aren't under your control at start; the length of time it takes to travel and resources involved in maintaining order in your homeworld and surrounding planets would be very difficult.

Star Ruler might run well, then there's the really old shit

>enslave a lower insectoid race
>build Slave armys
>meet some fungus aliums in the bronze age
>enslave them with my Insectoid slaves
>let them build infrastructure
>genocide all them backwards fungus people
>remove slave armys
>Real White People move in
>currently preparing an Invasion of Huge Proportions

>Start up game
>Find another race
>It's also a bird race
>And it's a science directorate, just like me.
>And fanatical materialists, just like me.
>Same color too.

Guess who made a good friend that day?

ayy lmao them into each other

eat popcorn

Doing fine. The Borg are pissing me off, though, they keep colonizing hostile worlds I can't colonize yet in my own territory and I have to culture-flip or conquer the planets from them.

No, it was transparent
also
>Find an anomality in a ice planet in buttfuck nowhere
>Is a lab with a random survivor
>Survivor claims to be from my Empire
>No records about him or the lab
>Demands to come back to the Homeworld and none of the Empire ships to land on the planet ever again
>Refuses to give his name
told the lab guys to ignore him and investigate
guy dissapears and the mountain the lab is in is hollow

Can you imagine this happening irl?
>aliens contact earth for the first time and reveal themselves
>they are just other humans

Better than Civ and other 4x games, not as detailed as other GS games. Mind you, Paradox games change over their lifetime.

The lack of depth in some areas will possibly be addressed. However, in true paradox tradition I'm sure these enhancements will be $9.99 DLC packs.

Happened to me, chose human race, and starting system as Sol, started in the real Solar System, and many hours later I find another star named Sol. It had random planets named named Sol Iand so forth, and in one of them there were pre-FTL humans.
Must have been a very confusing first contact for them.

>EU 4
>one could simply get a big army and start invading other countries
>playing as super powers

I downloaded the android mod from the workshop and am running a Xenophobic/Fanatic Collectivist Despotic Empire, with very strong, decadent, and repugnant as my traits.

I just made a vassal out of my neighbors early game, looking to wipe out another civ completely.

The combo of my slaves, xeno slaves, mining tech, and the very strong trait have me sitting at 8k minerals despite being pretty early still.

This pretty much, my 2 biggest complaints as a GS-noob are the lack of customization as far as backgrounds go and the RNG tech search, I mean there's lots of desert/tropical worlds around me and I can't do fucking anything with them.

It'd be strange as fuck, but I could see it happening. Say a bunch of humans lived on a planet that was eventually ravaged by war or near a dying star, so they loaded up people on ships and launched as many as they could in various directions until they all landed on a world that could support life. After countless year, original humans forget their origins until spaceflight is discovered again. Human populations from various planets in space meet with each other.

That's why you buy the base game, and pirate everything else.

>Ork looks bored
What's he even doing meeting up with all those soft gits?

Looks like I fucked up and will see some "diversity" soon

I literally enjoy this game but I don't feel like investing so much time on exploring the basics is there a video series yet, or even better a written tutorial I can read?

Actually a strategy guide would be even better

What game is this?
Is it available to pirate?

What building /tech increase planet cap? What is a maximum cap (without democracy +) Does sectors have anything to do with it?

AM i wrong if i think that declering war is pointless? What are the options if you conquer colony? You occupy the planet/slave xenos /can you purge whole infastructure Just for the sake of razing colony?

What are you referring to here

Galactic Civilizations II? It came out in 2006.

It's turn-based, though.

I think the game has lots of potential, but it would probably take several packs of DLC before it reaches that point. CK2 and EU4 were both pretty barebones at first, they picked up quite a bit after a few expansions though. V2 is the only one I feel didn't get much steam as expansions were released for it, but EU3 vanilla and complete is as different as night and day.

Prepare to be culturally enriched

Anyone got the white people only mod?

What other mods are decent?

Declaring war -> conquering planets -> more infrastructure -> bigger fleets -> more war/safety

GalCiv 2 is fucking incredible. The only 4x in which diplomacy and mercantilism are actually varied, fun and viable.
Lots of shitty micromanagement, sadly, but apart from that the game is stellar (see what I did there?).

By the way, DW:U runs like a bloody turd that's on fire.

what is a good tutorial for learning this game

just play the fucking game you nup
its already easy af

i started a game and had absolutely NO idea what to do though.

People still play spore?

Like all games in the genre, play it on the easiest setting and learn from your mistakes.

Sure, first level is god tier
Why do you ask?

yawn

fuck off kid, I'd steamrolled you anyway

you would shit on me but what's that have to do with this...

>can't even get through one game

Grand Strategy/4x is not the genre for you. Go play League of Legends if you want instant gratification and following guides.

Whats this game
Can I pirate it

i play EU4 and Civ 5 a lot though.

Of course, how about you look for torrents before asking the obvious.

Here's a pointless blogpost about how my space empire is doing.

I'm the blue empire in the top-right (Tekari). Grey empire right below me are my vassals who are just about to be integrated - beat them in a war ages ago and its taken forever to integrate them. The little brown spot and yellow one right below me are uplifted primitive vassals.

Planning on going to war with the blue empire above me after I finish integration - we were allies at the start of the game and they helped me win that war, but the border friction became too much.

Kaspalv league are Pacifist Xenophobes and want absolutely nothing to do with anyone. Hydari remnant is a fallen empire.

Most of the right half of the galaxy is in a federation with me, we've had a few wars against the Valdari + Shantar and won, which gave the Kedeshi + Kammarians a lot of their territory back.
The little yellow spot in the middle of Norillga are Humans.

The left half of the galaxy with all the little empires is a lot more interesting diplomacy-wise. Lots of small alliances against eachother. The bit above the Tal'Akkur used to be one empire, but it split into two at some point.

Not really much to do in this game other than wait for bars to fill.

Is this Endless Space?

If so, how the fuck do you play this game? I did not understand how to do anything, and I thought I understood grand strategy games.

The hours are just vanishing.

It's going to get worse when HOI4 comes out.

Send help.

I'm restarting.

There is literally no fucking habitable planets anywhere near empire and I'm surrounded by zealots who hate me and bully me constantly.

Also I lack 150 influence to get another frontier outpost made and I'm out of resources to mine fuck my life

yea this game eats time, but damn you just want to enslave another motherfuckin alium before going to bed

I keep restarting with a new game

I've been doing the same.

Seems like unless you get a really good start then the beginning of the game is a huge slog to get through.

Top fun later on though.

I've read your full post, very interesting - I hope you wipe out Rutherian.
Any tips for a noob? I'm new to the genre I'm still struggling to gather minerals I'm on 12 + and I need 30 for tutorial.

Prepare to get culturally enriched

don't

>lvl 3 warp
>don't have the type of government to unlock Psionic Warp

Goddamnit.

How to minerals:
>Build more mines on your planets (ideally on spaces which already give 1 or 2 minerals)

>Scan some systems with your science ship and use your construction ship to build mining stations on things in space which give minerals (like asteroids and stuff)

>If you're good for influence, you can issue the 'Production Targets' edict on a planet to increase its mineral output by 15%

>You can also use diplomacy, and give other empires energy or research agreements and stuff and ask for minerals in return.

I haven't played to late game, but for me it seems like frontier outposts are very good. You can harvest resources from the systems nearby, and they don't increase research costs, unlike colonies with their pops. So if you have positive influence, plop some around a rich system, or stars close to eachother.

Damn but every empire I encounter tells me to stay away because I'm a savage and a threat for the peace of universe.
