Why is this game so fucking good?

Is no one enjoying this?

Already beat it
I assume people are too busy playing the 3DS game

I'm liking it
There are more classes later right?

NOPE
The newest game has 8 classes though

The 3DS version hasn't come out yet though. At least not physically, anyways.
Not sure. I'm still early on.

You should know that you unlock more skills as the story proceeds

Is it similar to the Etrian Odyssey games? I need some more Yuzo Koshiro in my life.

It has a similar character creation system and appearance is NOT tied to class. ie you can have hacker girl be a samurai
If you played EO then this game has very simple dungeons but has like 300 FOE that you have to hunt down

2020-II is getting translated, right?
Its like Etrian Odyssey except its top down instead of first person when dungeon crawling. Otherwise its much like EO games, yes.

>Enter Shibuya.
>Remix of Jungle Navigation from the first game.

There's also a remix of NIARA BATTLE THEME

How are you guys playing this game?

PPSSPP emulator

I'm just using PPSSPP with a translation patched iso, why?

PSP emulation has been a thing for a while now.

Can't wait for 3DS emulation so VFD can look as beautiful as it was meant to be

Got a link to the ISO I'm done dealing with Nicoblogs attempted backdoor bullshit.

As a matter of fact

Holy shit thanks a million! Anything to know before I get started or is it the typical DC affair?

The only thing I can say that might be of use is that you might want to think twice before having a psychic on your team. Physical attacks are almost useless from them, and they run through mana really quickly so unless you're stocked up on MP increasing items you're going to have a rough time making use of them.

So I imagine good in the mid/late game really hard to make useful in the beginning outside of doling out extra damage to bosses?

The 3ds game was leaked two months ahead of launch. I'm trying it right now. I was about to make a thread for this.

Not really, the game gives you so many healing and MP items that it's hardly an issue. The game is also so fucking easy an party will do, especially since later you unlock EX that absolutely can destroy everything and you'll have so many ways to immediately fill the bar back up. It's an insult to compare this game to EO like people have really, it will always boil down to spamming your strongest skill. Pic related, it's the final boss. I probably would have killed it in less turns if the RNG hadn't decided to fuck me and keep killing my psychic.

I'm not in late game yet so I can't say, but it looks that way. As the psychic levels up naturally it gets more MP, so eventually it'll be better.
I've been running out of MP items constantly. Healing isn't an issue but I can't keep up my psychic so far.

>two months ahead of launch

How the fuck did that even happen? Why would they just sit on the game if it's already done and obviously out in the world for someone to upload it to the internet?

>Hacker
>Cumslut

You take that back.

A review let his "friend" dump it and make a CIA for it. Games are usually finished months before their releases dates user, packaging and distribution takes time. And that's what Sega gets for sending review copies out to literal nobodies.

>if you die in battle you can restart the battle right from the beginning instead of having to load your old save

Do we know exactly who it is (or a moderate estimation, at least)? Although, why in the name of fuck would they hand out copies to reviewers two months in advance? Why wouldn't they just release the game now? Why haven't reviewers dumped more games months in advance?

These games look interesting but I seriously don't want to deal with using my 3DS again.

>Why haven't reviewers dumped more games months in advance?
Don't get me wrong, I like that people get to play good games as soon as possible, but wouldn't that be a bad thing, generally speaking, especially for games like this one?
This is the first time 7th Dragon has gotten an official release in the West after all. SEGA normally doesn't even bring its cool stuff over anymore. Isn't it important that this game does well, and a leak undermines that?

Technically no, this game was imageepoch's swan song, both the IP and dev team are pretty much done after this.

Apparently VFD turns off the 3d completely. Weird.

Was giving her an explicitly detailed cameltoe with a clit really necessary?

Japan??????

Who? And yes. Yes it is.

And the game still runs like completely shit, and it's only when on a overclocked N3ds that the fps become somewhat stable.

Imageepoch doesn't seem to be involved with this one though.

Is it really good? Looked like a generic JRPG, with generic JRPG combat + Hatsune Miku.

I didn't run into any issues yet and my n3ds isn't overclocked. I think it's weird that 3d is turned off because the game doesn't even look better than the psp one.

imageepoch went bankrupt while developing this game but Sega still paid the devs to finish it.

What's unique about this game? Is it the same old each character has 4-6 abilities or is there actually customization?

Then you must be blind because right off the bat the game starts to look like a slide show in the frist area.

I beat it, got to the first postgame boss and stopped

>it's okay to steal because it's not like they're gaining any money from this :^))
piratefags are cancerous as always

Beat it, I liked the post-game bosses, although the last one I spammed my Trickster's EX skill using items.

I want to buy VFD, but I'm not sure if a normal 3ds would even run it well.

I'm just saying that the commercial performance of the game isn't going to have an impact of future localizations because the game is not going to get a sequel anyway.

I personally don't care for petty morals.

Were the fuck does it say that you fucking idiot? It's the truth, the company is bankrupt and like every fucking title in this series was developed by someone different. Maybe if it does well it will encourage Sega to localize more Japanese only titles, but as it stands, this is the 4th and most likely last game from a series hardly anyone outside of Japan knows about, so I'm pretty sure they aren't expecting too much from it anyway.

Kill yourselves. Wish it came to Vita instead.

I don't know Hatsune Miku's relevancy in this and I've played it for over 3 hours now.
But yes, I'd argue its great! The game doesn't baby you at all and has almost no tutorial, making it very easy to pick up. Battles are challenging and rewarding and keep you on your toes, and the music is really...different.
Story involves a bunch of dragons having come to the Earth and fucking everything up all over the world. Now you, an elite unique of soldiers that you yourself created, must help an organization get humanity back some ground after dragons took over. So far the story isn't anything special but the scifi atmosphere along with strange visuals and its relationships with flowers keeps things fresh.
I'm not sure what you mean. Right at the beginning of the game, you choose three characters (yourself and two party members) and give them each a class of your choosing. You have a small number of class choices, from hacker to psychic, each with their own uses and cons. Psychics mostly deal in offensive and defensive magic. Hackers almost exclusively have buffs and debuffs as skills. Samurai deal in strong offensive melee attacks. Psychics have low attack power, high magic. The others have decent attack. And so on. There are other classes. The game gives you a decent bit of customization. You can also choose each of the characters' voices and their names.

>hurr durr piracy ruining gaming
>VFD was the highest selling game in the series

:^)

Is the only way to overclock by using NTR with the overclock plug-in?

Miku is a NPC and when you save her and build the Diva room, you can have her sing all the background music

>I don't know Hatsune Miku's relevancy in this
Her character is actually extremely minor but wait till Chapter 3

I'm personally curious if Sega/Nintendo have the review copy specifically ID'd just in case something like this should happen. If they do, then that reviewer is completely fucked.

>Wish it came to Vita instead.

Imageepoch went bankrupt chasing dat Youkai Watch money on the 3ds. I feel like they deserved it.

If you have a9lh+luna3ds, you can actually set it to always be on, no need to use NTR for that.

wait seriously? source?

How is VFD, the one coming out for 3DS?

I want to pre-order because it sounds fun and I like being able to stick Aoi Yuuki and Nana Mizuki's voice on my waifus, but after recent events I'm leery about investing more in my 3DS.

Is it true that Yuzu Koshiro did the OST?

>tfw using Gateway from years ago and too lazy to swap to CFW

Fucking hell. I guess I'll just use NTR.

If you look at the company track, their best selling self published title was Sol Trigger on the PSP (arguably the best PSP rpg of all), but they still ignored the Vita while agreeing to work on such gems as Yoshi's New Island.

Yes, but the music unfortunately is the best part of the game. There is like zero challenge in this game, but I guess it can be kinda fun to see just how OP you can get

youtube.com/watch?v=zBCVvL5r88I
youtube.com/watch?v=K-13xl1oHQI
youtube.com/watch?v=48N4AcFZdz8

I wonder when the full Sol Trigger patch will be done.

The current one only does skills and the first half of the game but then the annoying thing happens and you need to basically level up an entirely new party

Well fuck

Time for best girl to make her appearance.

...I think the first fight against that is a forced loss

This isn't the first fight; that is from the rooftop fight of the inverted version of that dungeon. Its where you're supposed to be backup after you had delivered new equipment to the soldiers down below.

oh.

good luck then.

you mean neiko, i have no clue how they translated that part in English

The fuck? I'm pressing L but my keyboard won't switch. Is it because I'm using a cfw PSP?

You know, my autism side care about story in jrpg. Does this game has story?

You know its strange how when the series got a game on the 3DS it actually stopped having chibi characters. Usually its the other way around.

Yes. Its not a super complex one from what I've played, but its serviceable. See

They're still pretty chibi, with better details I guess. I feel like they really tried to get the game to look better than the PSP ones, but it ends up running like shit even though it's a lower resolution.

I hate like every single significant character. I just ignore the story as best I can and I enjoy the game.

Since you created your own character. Does this mean our playable characters won't talk and have no personality just like dq9?

Yes

Yes. The only personality they have is their voice.

old pic but this is the crew I ran with.

voices from left to right:
Shinichiro Miki
Myuki Sawshiro
Totomazu Sugita

>it's like Etrian Odyssey
>except it doesn't have the things that make an EO game

Even the combat, although good, is not EO-ish at all. The small team makes it difficult to get any synergy out of the team. The story is much more involved and cinematic than anything EO has done. I would say it's closer to a standard jrpg except you create your characters.

Its a dungeon crawler with first person battles that put an emphasis on buffs and debuffs with music by Yuzo Koshiro. I'd argue that's pretty Etrian Odyssey.
And I'd argue that its at least somewhat comparable story wise to the Untold series of EO games.

>zero challenge in this game
I see you never made it to the true dragons

Implying they're smart enough for that.

Share your thoughts. I'm not hacked so I was thinking of buying it. How are the classes? How does support teams work since you can have 9 party members active.

That is a shame. How does you guys think this fares against EO? I do hear the VA is top tier though.

Different guy here I'm like 4/5 of the way through the game
Classes have an absurd amount of links and synergies with other classes
Support teams "charge" buddy and friend skills in battle for set number of turns depending on their class
friend skills: Fortuner can revive all party members after four turns in battle, Duelist can clear all status effects after three turns
Buddy skills: It's a basic attack that occurs before yours with special effects and will break dragon specific buffs
Support teams can be switched out anytime outside of battle and earn an equal amount of exp/sp as your frontline team
There also two parts of the game where your teams split up and they have to fight dragons on their separate paths

I never beat an EO game.

Got to the final boss of 1. Never played 2. Got to the 3rd area of 3, the boss with the shifty heads in 4.

The problem in the EO games that you needed a very specific set-up or else you would have a bad time.

7th Dragon 2020 is less punishing in this regard.

I also played the first DS one I must of fucked up big time because I am getting my shit wrecked big time by the first boss

>Its a dungeon crawler

As much of a dungeon crawler as P4 really. If you're gonna generalize like that, does that mean DQ is too?

I've never played P4 and I've only played DQVIII which has an overworld and normal styled dungeons as opposed to mazes, and in it the focus is not on just going through dungeons.

First person and Third person dungeon crawlers should be regarded differently imo. There's so many differences like 1st person being more mazy and putting more emphasis on each step.

>first person battles
Your units are jumping in the screen constantly during every attack. Even moreso than PersonaQ. Also with some cool special attack animations.

>buff/debuff
Yes they both do it. But it's not really a unique thing.

>Yuzo Koshiro
Plenty of composers work across different series. Is radiant historia a kingdom hearts game now?

I'll agree to disagree on stories since I think EOU stories are pretty bad and poorly told. But its subjective so whatevs.

Already beat it, except for Takehaya.

Starting III now that it leaked. Not bad but it goes so slow compared to 2020 and it looks worse, but that's PPSPP making me biased. I'm sure if CITRA was actually operational and didn't need a computer far better than what I have III would look fantastic and run far faster.

Don't even need a9lh, you can just use Luna3DS as your CFW on n3DS and set it to always overlock. That's what I did since I'm too scared I'll fuck something up while making the switch over from rxTools.

>III would look fantastic and run far faster.
The models look spectacular when they zoom in on things
It's the same problem the PSP games had, really high end textures and models on a screen too small to support them properly

Anyone know where I can find the OST to download? Preferably CD rips, if they exist.

That's not Aoi.

Aoi ;_;

...

True. Everything just looked so much smoother running on an emulator. And turbo mode was a blessing once I got Carnage Strike and Destroy on Sight, random battles never bothered me again once I could speed through them.

khinsider should have the entire 2020 OST.

>Enter the postgame dungeon.
>Spirits of everyone that died hanging out in the lobby.

By the way have you played the original for the DS?
If you have then VFD will make you shit a few bricks

At least I killed all the Dragons for them. Except Takehaya, holy fuck is that boss fight just unfair. The only way I can conceivably win is using Dragon Eggs to spam EX Skills.

Yeah I played that Flower Stomping Simulator. It had its charm but holy hell did it have a lot of flaws, most notably the Quest system and how you can only check the details by talking to the person who gave it to you and the fact that you pretty much must have a Knight with Safe Walk for a majority of the game.

Are there any plans to translate the second 2020?
