3 > 2 > 4 > 1
3 and 2 were great, 4 was a bit flat until the end, and 1 was in that awkward phase where things hadn't yet been perfected.
My favorite Megaman series. Gameplay is godly, character designs and themes are cool, music is pretty great though not as good as some of the other series.
3 > ZX > 1 > 2=4 > ZXA
It's a good game to break your L and R triggers, seriously some of the bosses in 3 were a complete nightmare.
Incredibly good overall but has the capcom syndrome of being milked to death
Zero series ended before being milked.
1 was the starting point
2 was making everything better, but being too difficult
3 was perfection
4 was too different, but still maintained some cool shit
ZX was a great return to form, but the map was garbage
ZXA was too fucking different. Still a decent game, but series thankfully ended here.
So 6 entries, or 4 if you don't count ZX/A isn't that bad for Capcom.
pedophile tier designs for zero and the guardians
good game series overall. 3 was my favorite
2 > 1 > 3 >>> 4 is how I'd rank them
2 expands on everything 1 had in cool ways, but 3 ends up feeling like more of the same with less difficulty which is why I place it just barely behind 1. Z1 is a little rough around the edges but still a dang good action platformer. I thought 4 was getting even more tired than 3 and the new gimmicks weren't much fun. A single Cyber Elf that you don't have much control over? A trial-and-error based crafting system for equippable powerups? Weather system for stages that asks you "do you want to play Easy mode, or do you want kickass EX Skills from the bosses?". Eh. And the story felt like they threw in some filler so they could stretch the gameplay to the usual length and then have the relevant stuff happen at the end (Zero defeats Weil, world at peace, fin)
4 was also closure
I just wished they didn't dumb down the Cyber Elf system so much
I love the mood of it, the animations, the music, but man, I really wish it wasn't so constrained by the tiny resolution of the GBA.
All of the levels and boss arenas are super claustrophobic and dodging projectiles / attacks is a mess.
I wish there was a remake of the whole series. Redone so the boss fights aren't over in twenty seconds if you know what you're doing.
Also, obligatory

>Thankfully ended here.
user. Albert was right, the world is going to be reset.
ZX/A will get a sequel at some point. But fucking hell you couldn't save Pandora, what shit was this or even get their data.
I was butthurt.
It's breddy good
I wish ZX3 existed
>but series thankfully ended here.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
He's cute I guess. 7/10 would fug.
final bosses in 2 and 3 got me hyped as fuck.
Three was the best.
3 really got me wishing that more sidescrolling game have final boss that are the same size as you and use roughly the same move. Also cannonball was the hypest shit.
I love Z and ZX very nearly and dearly.
GOAT MM series, but I believe every Mega Man series is worth playing in it's own way.
The Battle Network games were better.
And Star Force was better than ZX.
Zero and ZX were shit sequel series' to X and Classic.
Never played ZX, where did the armor come from if Zero and X were 100% gone?
Maybe they weren't 100% gone.
Same way Omega wasn't 100% gone.
"Biometals"
Cannonball was quite possibly the hypest moment in all of megaman
Zero series is pretty fucking great. One of the best megaman series if I may say
2 > 3 > 4 > 1 Fite me nerds
But did they have their ''souls'' or are they replicas?
Does this unit have a soul?
Wish Zero kept his original armor. I don't mind if it's used by Omega instead, but his costume redesign is crappy as shit. I like his weapons though
>Has two open slots left "OMG I'm about to get Pandora and Prometheus' data!"
>dot dot dot
They do, I think. I can't remember clearly but I think Ciel made them.
Apart from Model W, which is literally the remains of Ragnarok and has Weil's soul.
Not technically souls, but perhaps their memory and personality drive were installed on the biometal. Besides they're reploids (robot in case of Zero) so they don't have a soul
Omega was a replica made with battle data from that fight.
Model A for sure had a soul, that nigga was alive.
Model X and Z are questionable.
Everyone else was traitor scum with no soul, the last Biometals swapped allegiances like nothing. Or more like not Harpuia, Leviathan, Fefnir, and ninjafaggot.
Yeah I meant mostly their original ''memory''.
i think most of it is just an artist change
Mega Man as a whole is shit.
Fuck is that a cancelled design? It looks great, heck even better than his x8 abomination I dare to say
it is 100% an artist change
"in universe" zero looks no different at all, and has always looked like panty clad bishounen. It's a lame art choice but you get kind of used to it quick.
It's fanart.
I love the fluid movement of the Zero games, feels really good, like i'm swoocing right in
Biometals contain the character's conscious. but their memories erased.
megaman.wikia.com
>"Biometal are fragments containing the consciousness of those legendary heroes."
I guess essentially a reploid's conscious is their soul.
Or is that their Cyber Elf?
Was just planning on starting the DS Collection soon. Heard the series is balls-hard, how true is that? I've beaten both ZX games.
You'll be fine.
Zero 1 is pretty hard, and the mission system doesn't help.
Zero 2 is still pretty hard.
Zero 3 has perfect difficulty, for me at least.
Zero 4 is easy.
The DS collection has an "Easy Scenario" which plays all 4 games in sequence; don't bother with that. Perhaps use it just for Zero 1, but otherwise play Zero 2/3/4 from the individual game select.
Series is definitely harder than classic and X.
It's been a while since I played, but I remember if you don't do well enough on a mission in the earlier version of the game, you don't get shit.
I remember scrambling to keep a perfect S rank in one of the later versions for some reason, I forget just why I felt the need to do that.
If I have to list mmz games from the hardest to easiest it'd be 1-2-3-4
4 is a cakewalk while 1 is fuckshit difficult
If you know how the ZX games handle you'll be just fine.
You need S or A rank to get EX Skills in Zero 2 and Zero 3.
I find it more fun if I use a cheat code to unlock them all at the beginning, and simply enable them as I beat the corresponding battles. It's not legitimate but I prefer how the game plays then.
I was fine when I played it.
I like the character designs. Wish the series continued.
Bought the first game used recently. Such a clusterfuck to play.
>game poorly explains what cyber-elves do
>most are totally worthless single-use elves, but some give permanent upgrades like increased max HP
>game is hard as fuck until you find somewhere to farm lives, at which point it becomes trivial
>actually really fucking short when you get down to raw content
I should really start the other games soon.
when playing through the series i didn't understand that you could use the cyber elves without killing them. the series seemed insane but beatable that way
So am I the only one who got their shit pushed in by Craft in hard mode?
MMZ0 2 was my first completed megaman game and i loved it.
The devs had a weird counter-intuitive design in the first game where the best upgrades could only be obtained if you didn't use any of the pickups (cyber-elves) for S-ranks. Thankfully the later games figured out a more cohesive system.
Why is she so perfect?
Craft was a cunt to fight.
Hi me. Did your friend in 7th grade loan you his game when he went on vacation?
I thought I was alone for a sec.
GBA or DS versions?
dude what? no
The first one is them still finding their feet, it hasn't aged as nicely as the others for certain. Worth playing to get a feel for the setting and main characters at least.
zeros new design was because it works better on the gba screen than the original one would
No to my joke about having MMZ2 being my first MM game I've beaten, or me thinking I was alone in getting bodied by Craft?
This, I couldn't get into it. Another thing that annoyed me is how ever boss has like three separate health bars. I pretty much jumped the MM ship around the time this came out.
I thought 4 in general was a lot harder after the piss-easy 3, but that may also be partly because it's the one I played the least in the series. Kraft had a bunch of weird explosive attacks, that much I remember.
I can understand that. At the same time, even on the GBC, they had zero looking pretty good. I feel like they could have made some fresh sprites in the X style that worked well on the GBA screen instead of doing an entire aesthetic shift.
That said, the reploids were cool looking, I liked that they had a much more artistic and abstract, circuity/boxy look to them.
I can't really agree that it looks good, they got all the details of the snes/ps1 zero down but with that tiny of a resolution it just looks like a blurry mess of lines and spots
the gba has a bigger screen/resolution but not by much, and given how these games already kinda suffer from expecting you to instantly react to stuff on a small screen making zero look way less complicated works better
he probably didn't need a robo-daiper but is that really any dumber than the banana hair?
ZX3 never.
Xtreme 3 never.
I think it's more of a space issue, along with the technical evolution of the reploids; they became more and more human-looking. By the time of ZX they're practically indistinguishable from humans.
Doesn't really matter.
...
I will never forgive Albert for that shit.
In terms of difficulty in the games, I would honestly say it's something like
2 > 4 > 1 > 3
themmnetwork.com
notably Zero Collection has better quality audio (same samples but without the constant "hiss" noise) & obviously it can't unlock extras in ZX (extra boss fights are unlocked by having each of the 4 games plugged into the GBA slot in Area N)
is it just me or all the characters you play/all the megamans get beaten up, destroyed and otherwise roughed up in fanart/official art/story?
2 is my favourite and the one I play the most and some missions still kick my ass.

>tfw nobody likes Sand Triangle
Sounds like it could be a X series jungle stage

Can Zero beat Casshern, Cross (XCX), Android 18 and Raiden (MGR)?
yes, depends on the build, no, yes
