>Buys GTX 980 Ti
>Max every game
>Games are shit

I'd say you are pretty fucked

oh nice, i got the 970 version of that one. It's a really good card, but vastly expensive until it dies down. I was forced to get a new card since my last died and the jews at NVIDIA had removed every single 700-series card in existance, so i had to choose between no gaman or suffer a expensive blow, but back 2 vidya

Why didn't you wait for Pascal Marshmellow edition GPUs?

You're as fucked as OP.

Nigga, I'm rolling with 770 and still can't see myself upgrading yet.

A 980 will let you max any game you want for the next 4 years so.

>he fell for the ti meme

SELL IT QUICK
It'll soon be worthless

same, unless you want to run every single game at max graphics, a 770 still does its job.

Why are you fucked? That's a top of the line GPU that should max out your games at 1080p for a few years to come.

No you fucking mong you just buy another one for the cheap price they'll go for and get better performance than Pascal Marshmellow GPUs

Only retards eat up Nvidia's dipshit arbitrary graphs. Wait for actual game benchmarks.

Fuck you, you AMD shill. Nvidia > Life itself.

I own an Nvidia card currently...stop sucking corporate dick, fanboy.

Sell it used for a price of a GTX 970 NOW, and pray some pleb uys it from you

or have the 1070 released, people are going to guy that new instead

this, just wish i'd gotten the 4GB variant

> gimps sure loves their gimps

980ti will probably be as good as the 1080 in normal games

They dodged comparing the 1080 to the 980ti directly.
>in VR!
>in SLI!

you were fucked 2 months ago

Maxing out games is kinda pointless nowadays, since most recent console ports look almost the same on Medium and Ultra.

youtube.com/watch?v=K6xTnRRTunc

>2-way SLI
fucking idiot, paying even more for a non-efficient setup

you could have bought the 1080 for even cheaper and yet still get faster and more efficient result than 2x 980ti

idiot spotted

>AMD

youtu.be/8lTGk0R12gs

ahahahahahahahahahahah, you fucking idiot.

Return that shit ASAP. The 1080 is about to come out and it cost less than your 980 while giving better preformance.

How do you return a 2 month old card? I bought a 970 about 3 months ago and now after seeing the 1070 I want to buy that instead. How can I take it back and convince them to give me my money back?

Less fucked than those plebs who bought a 980 and anything below that. The 980Ti is the only worthwhile NVIDIA card since all the others are on par with or outperformed by AMD's 290/390.

You're good user. The 1080 might give 10-15 extra frames or so, don't bother.

>1080 has only a 256 bit bus
the fuck nvidia

make it 30 in DX12

> Maxwell imminent gimping
> DX12 Async Compute issue

> 2016
> still cares about bus and bit

explain why bit bus matters?

I don't get this either. Is this new GDDR5x tech that much better they don't need it bigger?

...

it doesn't anymore

not since 2000 fucking 14, even earlier than that

gddr5x can't get even 2/3 of it's spec speeds that's why

also most console prots stream assets -> better general performance if memory is decent

yeah, and what's the point if it's bottlenecked

I don't want to play high end games, just stuff like Darksouls 3 a little better. Go for a GTX 980 now or wait for a 1070 next month?

1070

900 series just aint worth it

I got an AMD 390
did I fuck up

1070. Cheaper and better.

>cheaper

In the US maybe. I am sure Euro will be at least €500.

wccftech.com/micron-gddr5x-memory-analysis-nvidia-pascal-graphic-card/

ready through this

nope, you'll still get proper support and WILL climb your way up to a gtx 980 level as more newer DX12 comes out

on the other hand, a gtx 970 will suffer hard, the 380 will get close to its level

You don't
You suck up the fact that you're an impatient baby who had to get a card now despite the warnings that a new line was imminent

Will the gtx1080 be overkill if I don't want 4K? Currect monitor is still at 1080p and I don't think I'll ever change it unless it breaks.

Looking to upgrade from a shitty 650ti. Don't intend to play the flavor of the month triple A titles, don't like fps, moba or hybrids of them. Also are the various brands like MSI,Asus,Gigabyte etc gonna be at a higher or lower price from the estimated original?

How badly would 4670K bottleneck 1070?

thanks user.

It would be overkill, yes.
It won't.

The only thing i don't like in it is the temps the rest is top notch.

branded, non-reference cards all have custom coolers and will be more expensive

but really tho... how long ago was it?

I'm not at home right now, do you know how many display ports the card has?

'overkill' just means that the card will last 3 years longer

so if i'm building a PC soon i probably should wait for the new cards to release or?

You should always buy EVGA for Nvidia. They have a trade up program for 90 days. So if you bought it 2 months ago, you could still trade up to the 1080 and all you would have to pay for it shipping

> looking to upgrade to a 1080
> not looking forward to play majority of the games

what?

just stick with the shitty 650ti and wait for the new $200 gtx 1060 / r9 480

Why? Yuropoor asking. Planning on getting one for only $370. Why is it so much more over here?

I can't wait for the day when nvidia releases a new card, but all it does is display a picture of a man's testicles

Does anyone know how loud the stock cooler on the 1080 compared to something like the 770 twin frozr?

You were already fucked when you bought nvidia

Bottlenecking CPUs is an overhyped issue and won't happen for any decent i5 CPU after Sandy Bridge.

Unless you're rich, I wouldn't go above the 1070. Estimating from what you said, the 1070 will probaby already be overkill for you.

if you really need a card to power up your games do get current lineups

but really, it's just a month away

anyway what's your budget

>It would be overkill, yes.
Even so I was kinda betting on it being cheap since the estimated prices are implying that a bit. Then again wishful thinking since they'll inflate the prices and what is saying. I really am hoping it'll stay at the 500€ range but who am I kidding right?

Story of my fucking life.
>Fuck yeah I can play motherfucking prototype on this sweet HD4850!
>1 year in and obsolete.
>Fuck yeah I can play motherfucking Dark Souls on this sweet 650ti!
>Nothing else is even playable without downgrading to 720p and pray.
I just want a GPU that might last more than 2 years.

Yeah, I figure the price for the 1080 wont even be what I imagine it will be.

it's not even reviewed yet

it hasn't even reached those 'tech-gurus'

about 900-1000€

2 DVI, 1 HDMI, 1 Display Port

AMD yes, but even for an Intel, the 970 / 390 is the most an i5 should push

anything beyond that is best paired with the i7, even more with the more powerful 1070

You can expect third party GTX 1070's to be sold at the 400-450€ range while GTX 1080's will be 600€+.

also forgot to mention that i already got a case for free which is a BitFenix Shinobi Window ATX Mid Tower Case

70 or 80 tier cards usually carry you 4 years on ultra/high and longer if you settle for low/medium.

My GTX660 is 4 years old, and only since 6-12 months I've started to tweak settings to low/medium to get ~50FPS in games.

Total budget? Or GPU budget. If total, go 1070, but wait for reviews.

it won't severely limit the 1070 to the point you'd consider it to be a bottleneck

but you could still squeeze much more from it

do remember the Skylake i3 6100 is already 10% faster than the Sandy i7 2600 in single threaded apps

>4850

how old is your rig?

>buying a 1080

Hope you guys plan on doing something productive with it other than playing childrens games

sleep TI-ght pupper

You can max all settings of all games on it atm as long as you're running 1080p. Will all be 60fps.

Thanks for the bunch of info anons. I'll hold out until Sept-Oct and see how things will have progressed by then.

One last thing. In terms of GPU I mostly have it down but what about the CPU? Since I'm reading about bottlenecking issues in the thread I might as well ask about mine. Recently upgraded to an i5 6500. Will I be okay?

I was talking more about when I eventually bought my 1st real rig in 2009. Even then it was pretty underwhelming but it worked. Recently upgraded the foundations, CPU/RAM/motherboard. This is how it is now.
The high temp on motherboard is a bug and it can't even recognize the DDR4 RAM

This.

You can literally run it on an Athlon X2 and the estimated bottleneck for it is at around 8%.

It used to be an issue when VGA was still a thing, but with the 16x express ports there is virtually no bottleneck, especially considering that the majority of modern games are GPU heavy.

The i5 6500 will be fine. Difference to an overclocked i5 or i7 will be minimal in most games.
Those mobo temps tho.

Don't worry user, I'm perfectly fine here, the flames are gently caressing me, it doesn't even hurt anymore. I love you anons.

> bretty gud

yeah stick wait for the 1070

> athlon x2
> gtx1070

what a tard

It's more a efficient upgrade than upgrading your CPU, cost-wise. Try and learn something about hardware before you spout LE MAYMAYS around.

So I have this brand new r9 390 with me but I need a new power unit to use it, should I buy the new psu or return the $500 card, if so, what card should I buy? Please help I am new to graphics cards.

nice graph, thanks for reposting it. im a nvidia rep and i have this new exciting graph to show you guys

>The 1080 is about to come out and it cost less than your 980

980ti currently retailed at $500 ~ $550.
1080 msrp price is about $599, but it is estimated to be a bit more than that for a decent third party cooler.
The third party version will be shipped about 2 ~ 3 weeks after the 'Founder' package shipped.

Also

>GTX1080 about 20% better than 980ti, both on stock
>clock per clock it is actually worse than 980ti
>980ti is actually is, and still is a good gpu for its price point
>to make GTX1080 looks good, 980ti were never referenced in the conference when they showcase the GPU

what the hell is relative VR performance ??

>Buy the 780ti, future proof!
>Buy the 980, future proof!
>Buy the 980ti, future proof!

I need to invest in Nvidia, you retards gobble this shit up without a second thought. I bought a 770 2GB in 2014 and most likely won't upgrade for another year or so. Before that my 5770 worked like a champ for almost 4 years. I'd be interested to know what % of nvidia sales are impulse buys from dullards who need to experience that bleeding edge new shiny feel.

tell me how do you feel
> 770 is better than the 280x then
> 280x surpasses the 770 in 2015
> 280x beats the 380, the 960, 770,680 in that order
> it's now climbing its way towards the 780 and even 780ti

>I need to invest in Nvidia
This is how i bought the PC I am using. Bought stock during the recession, sold around the time the 980 was released. Mad profits

it's not the impulse buyer but more like new buyers

if you had the 970/980 for a year+ now, there's nothing wrong upgrading this quickly

but for those new buyers looking to get a new card and are getting the Maxwell THIS LATE, it's so fucking stupid, Pascal is literally just weeks away

Is a GTX970 good to buy right now?

2 years ago i almost spent 1k on my first pc rig. Thankfully I took time and thought about it and took the safe bet and bought a PS4. thankfully I made the right choice as PS4 as surpassed pc gaming in every way and has the best games. I wouldn't be able to play Bloodborne or Uncharted 4 (considered the 2 only masterpiece video games in the past 5 years). Not only that but I can play with all my friends since nobody socially plays PC game online multiplayer anymore, and the graphics for console games have just about surpasses PC games now. I really dodged a bullet, and I know I would have regretted getting a gaming pc.

Fine because I didn't have to put up with shit drivers and nuclear meltdown temps for 3 years. Power consumption is a huge factor that nobody every does the math on. If your card has nearly double the usage then it could easily add up to an extra $150 in electric bill costs in a year. Most of you will probably never have a job though, so I guess it's a moot point.

spot the salty 980 TI owner lmfao. enjoy cucked by nvidias drivers, if you want the best you'll need a gtx 1080 :^)

it never was a good buy to begin with

What would you recommend then, fampai?

or wait for

That's a bit over my budget. Anything around the 970 range?
