Yosuke was more tolerable in the original where he usually had to speak for you and despite his massive personality flaws was reasonably intelligent.

It seemed to me (since I played P3 and 4 back to back) that either some people had a negative reaction to Junpei, who played the role of "regular guy who finds out he has a power that makes him special, but he has peers who are even more specialer and will occasionally get bitchy and jealous", or Atlus just didn't want to make another Junpei, which is really what Yosuke SHOULD have been. Hell, he should've been more whiny and spiteful towards you than Junpei considering how much worse he got it.

And see, I liked Junpei BECAUSE of the petty shit, or at least sympathized with him. If you are supposed to be the hero of your own story, then finding out that someone else is the chosen one fucking sucks. Moreover, he got over it relatively quickly and actually apologized for being so shitty. The only time he relapsed is right after Chidori died, iirc, and he apologized again.

But then again, P3 and the sequels are supposed to be the perfect high school wish fulfillment for kids who got bullied in high school and had generally shitty times, so I see why they would gravitate towards always-behind-you Yosuke, even if there's really no reason for him to always support you.

Actually, his dilemma is over the fact that girls don't seem to like him for reasons that he doesn't understand, and he thinks that because he has "girly" hobbies and it's easier for him to get along with guys (like Naoto, pre-reveal) that he SHOULD be gay, but actually isn't. That's why Shadow Kanji breaks into that bit about not being able to get along with anyone, but the spin-offs and supplentary shit just focused on the GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY.

That's just poor translation. Whole point of the spin offs and shit is they focus on Yosuke's (and Chies, actually) super stupidity and how they don't actually understand Kanji at all, which frustrates him.

Hell the Golden has some good examples. When you hit on Kanji and he's not suprised at what you're doing, he simply shrugs it off and YOSUKE jumps to conclusions.

Because he was supposed to be. I think ever since the release of persona 4 people forgot that the Persona 3 cast wasn't supposed to be buddy-buddy. They were people gathered for a cause, sure they bonded because they've risked their lives for each other, but at the end of the day, they were just teammates. It wasn't til the end when all of their personas evolved that they really became friends.

The thing is, Junpei and Yukari were supposed to be buddy-buddy. That was made more apparent with FES and all, but it was always there.

That only really counts for the rest of the cast, like Akihiko, who you never really befriend until way later.

That's a shame. One of the things I hated about Persona 4 was how uber important the main character was to the group. I hope P5 doesn't go down that route as hard as P4 did. Because there were times in P4 where it felt like some of the characters didn't have a life outside of the protagonist

Your party members in the dungeon, sometimes Rise chimes in when you talk to people in your party and that counts towards the trophy.

Literally always Yosuke. He is an irredeemable sack of crap.

Swap out your party regularly and it shouldn't be a problem. Got mine on 2nd playthrough at the hollow forest.

The one thing I would be sure to do is that there are unique lines for when someone kills multiple enemies, but since Naoto generally lacks attacks that hit multiple enemies it can be hard for her to get those lines.

Also don't wear any gear that protects you from status ailments since you get lines for getting hit with those as well.

S. Link character development was a mistake.

At least the P3 cast canonically grew as people. The P4 cast had to have 0 development throughout the story, because maybe you haven't done their S.Link yet.
