it's like, first it was sort of funny, then it was kind of unsettling, then it was just plain sad. but at this point I can't even feel anything for him at all.

Dark Souls will probably take you at least 40 hours.

You might find the game hard. I feel it's more forgiving than Demon's Souls, but it still doesn't really pull its punches early on. Honestly, start with Demon's Souls. Once you determine whether you like it or not, then try Dark Souls. Keep in mind, the games are intentionally vague and cryptic, as they are inspired by the director's reading of books in a language he did not fully understand, so a lot of the meaning was lost to him, and he tried to recreate that sensation. This does not apply to Dark Souls II, as he was not the director.

By the looks of this thread, do you think OP was actually serious, in any way?

If you don't have much time to play you won't have the time to appreciate it. Dark Souls is a slow burn. Find something else until you have a ton of free time on your hands my man. If you ever happen upon the time start with Dark Souls 1.
