System Shock Remastered is heading to Kickstarter next month

>Night Dive Studios turns to crowdfunding for anticipated remake.
>A much requested remaster of System Shock is currently in development, and based on some early gameplay footage the Unity-powered revamp is coming along very nicely. It's likely we'll have to wait a while to play it though, because Night Dive Studios has announced that it intends to launch a Kickstarter campaign next month.
>In addition to looking much more fancy, the remake will stay very true to the original – though the user-interface will receive some much needed spit and polish.

You backing this right?

Nope.

Funny, I thought NDS has a shitton of money, that's why they do all this

Shotton of money from where, selling slightly updated versions of old games that barely anyone buy

He could've had money before that

this

where the fuck would they even get money from?

>Shotton of money from where, selling slightly updated versions of old games that barely anyone buy
You're right, it was only a cult classic where just the disc sold for $60+ because the IP was in limbo. Nobody would buy that old game.

Collector's items are always more desired

They weren't collectors items, they were bare discs.

Zombies looks like literal shit

> mild improvement
No

didn't this already come out on steam last year?

Which is basically a collector's item now since they are rare unlike a digital game

It was a port of original for new systems with slight fixes. This one is full remake

>that graphics engine
Please don't.

This was before the digital release. People paid that much for a game that old because it was the only legal way to play it. The demand really was that high.

Looks fine

>remaster
don't give a shit
>remake that actually allows you to do whatever build you like without getting fucked over, a less ridiculous weapon degrading system and redoing the entire Rickenbacker
mite b cool

This is a remake of SS1. It never had weapon degradation in the first place.

>Unity-powered
DROPPED

Oh shit I'm retarded.
This could be decent then.

>it's "Unity is bad" meme again

>When you "accidentally" destroy Earth with laser

Did you do this with Ori, too?

>it's a "requires modern high-end requirements for decade old visuals" engine

>though the user-interface will receive some much needed spit and polish.

Casualized? Casualized.

Dev's fault, not engine's.

YES

Nope just better

>>Nope just better

That's what Ken Lecuck thought when he made Bioshit

I hope we get timer on hardest difficulty like in orginal.

Of course not

>Honestly unironically thinking a shit UI makes a game "More hardcorez!"

Not to mention most everything you do can be done with key commands and you can almost forget about the shitty UI

Bioshock was good tho until Infinite destroyed everything

I don't give a fuck about the remake. I'm more interested in the Warren Spector directed SS3

I gotta say they've done a pretty good job with the interiors. The visuals were pretty out there so I always wondered how they would transition it into full 3d but it looks pretty nice

>>Honestly unironically thinking a shit UI makes a game "More hardcorez!"

A Bioshit fan would think the System Shock 2 UI is bad, when it's the least cumbersome and best made UI's I've ever used in an FPS RPG.

Spare me your excuses.

I hope SHODAN maintains the SS1 look, it was way creepier and fitting.

What does SS2 have to do with this SS1 remake

>I like the taste of shit! Don't tell me you're so casual you don't like the taste of shit too

why is ken levine a cuck

>Bioshock was good

No. I played Bioshit before I played SS2 and Bioshit was always bad

SS2 is also bad

>Le shit eating comparison

Next you're gonna compare games to food

Lots of crappy looking games are made on Unity because Unity is free.

Unity is not incapable of making good looking games, however.

>System Shock 2
HAHA! YOU WERE MERELY PRETENDING TO BE RETARDED!

They have updated the textures but not the geometry of the rooms, it looks stupid
Every room is a 4 polygon box with super highress textures and little thingys on the walls

SS2 is better than Bioshock but it isn't a bad game at all.

I don't think a game that has been ripped off as much as SS2 (Doom 3, Dead Space, Bioshock) could ever be called even remotely bad.

...

Remove yourself from this thread this instant, fag master.

Can you even call Bioshock a rip-off since it was designed by the same dude?

What should the rooms look like? I mean walls are usually straight. It looks good enough to me

I agree with you, it does look stupid. But their intentions are to create a faithful remake of the game. Nothing changed except the graphical fidelity.

fuck this. crowdfund for otherside and give it to them to make ss3 better.

Did anyone explain the actual storyline of System Shock to them yet?

Earthbound has like 50 rip offs and Earthbound was bad

They basically took the engine from that space cleaning sim, made everything much more shiny and added copious amounts of bloom before finishing it by smearing Vaseline across the screen

epic

That wasn't in the original game was it? Weren't the zombies just the normal crew but mutated. That's some pretty liberal retconning

>A Bioshit fan would think the System Shock 2 UI is bad
>the System Shock 2 UI
>System Shock 2

I think this is actual original concept art.

I'm not seeing it.

>Earthbound was bad
Don't you fucking start

>System shock 1-2 are my fav games of all time
>Replay both at least once every year
>Still think no other title who attempted to copy them nailed their game design.

And despite all the nostalgia i have for the game this looks kinda... wrong... I can't put my finger on it but all my nostalgia remembering those corridors can't bring me to like this.

The crew arent zombies, they're people with worms on them who grew into worm people. Their bodies are barely even recognizable as human.

Seriously the pacing of the game is awful, combat is basic turn based combat with zero depth, No party organization to give certain characters priority over others, no unique equipment builds that reward smarter thinking, not harder thinking

Only reason people like it is cause Smash Bros made Ness popular

If you don't think this looks amazing you are a bad person. They could have made it edgy dark blue grey but instead they kept the cartoony, surrealistic aesthetic of the interiors and enemies. If you don't think this looks incredible based on the trailer you are an edgelord contrarian--sorry!

People like it for everything that isn't the gameplay, and in terms of gameplay most RPGs are shit anyway.

>Weren't the zombies just the normal crew but mutated.
Yes. I think whoever drew that only looked at the sprites and tried to come up with an explanation for the bulbous eyes.

>sorry!
no problem mate

>When you first meet it

Out there
>the background looks super realistic and there is nothing that is modern that does that

more like only reason people like it is because
>muh nostalgia
>muh randumb XDDD
>muh 2deep4u story
>muh cult hit you gotta play it

I'm to replay it today and wouldn't have enough motivation in me to even play from start to finish

That's System Shock 2 you're talking about.

In SS1?

SS2 is like deus ex with less RPG and more shooty

EarthBound is only recognised because of the final boss. Thats it.

I thought this was supposed to be SS2 remastered because of the ss2 shodan image posted

Corporate shill the post

That's weird.
I'm also a big fan of SS and this game looks kind of ok to me.

I'm sorry I'm not really understanding what you're saying

>You backing this right?

Fuck off retard

>crowdfunding
lol

Nah.

agreed 100%
linear as fuck
shallow
gameplay choices made no difference
it was made for children who couldnt handle the complexity of the finalfantasy games at the time and some how has come to be hailed as "great"
i blame tumblr kiddies and their bullshit safespace nonsense

Ok every fucking game now a days has a super big world where ss1 feels like it was more of a corridor thing.

The rooms feel to big and not enough detail for me

>lets buy the bridge of brookryln
No thanks my good man

You dumb cunt people liked earthbound before the god damn internet existed

Why does everything look like plastic?

>... the Unity-powered revamp

ahaHAhaHAHAhahaHAHAHahah

>Unity
>Kickstarter

Why the fuck they turned SS into an indie game? Also the level design in 2d looked allright but it looks fucking retarded on 3d. They better not do this kind of shit on SS3.

>System Shock 2 UI
>System Shock 2
>2

why bother getting up your own ass so much if you don't even know what the thread is about?

Before the internet existed?

>SS2 is like deus ex
Yeah no... also a great game, also in big boy on my shelf but your statement is just wrong.

Well i think im just frustrated because i'm waiting for over 16 years for a game that could succeed SS1 + 2 (with the ocasional disappointments of other games with "shock" in the name) and this just looks like someone ported the SS1 maps into a unity engine

This might as well be copypasta--the same reasons that everyone gives, all of which are shitty or out-right wrong.

>No party organization to give certain characters priority over others
Why do you need party organization to give priority to characters when they all have equal priority?

Ness is the Knight/Tank class
Paula is Mage/Healer
Jeff is Rogue
Poo is the Battle Mage
The perfect composition

They are all used equally because they all have abilities that the other party members do not have.

>heading to kickstarter
I thought it was already kickstarted, no thanks

Nah they're in the original.

yea literal children who couldnt take the compexity of games like blue dragon or eye of thr beholder

It looks like a 1-1 recreation with better graphics and controls. As long as it preserves the features and gameplay of the original, it should be great. Looks nice.

>lol iam smartur then u Xd
