Games where the remake was worse than the original
DOOM 4
>let's make all the movement janky as fuck
>let's make the game easy as fuck
>let's put in indie game advertisements
>don't forget to make this rusty meat processing plant look bright and clean
something something picture of me
How the fuck did you get a picture of me?
>DmC: Devil May Cry
FUCK YOU
Ratchet & Clank. I didn't play the remake but since you can't increase this chick's breasts anymore its dead to me.
Name one, just ONE game where the remake was actually better than the original.
other than Resident Evil
This is me. Literally me. No other character can come close to relating to me like this. There is no way you can convince me this is not me. This character could not possibly be anymore me. It’s me, and nobody can convince me otherwise. If anyone approached me on the topic of this not possibly being me, then I immediately shut them down with overwhelming evidence that this character is me. This character is me, it is indisputable. Why anyone would try to argue that this character is not me is beyond me. If you held two pictures of me and this character side by side, you’d see no difference. I can safely look at this character every day and say “Yup, that’s me”. I can practically see this character every time I look at myself in the mirror. I go outside and people stop me to comment how similar I look and act to this character. I chuckle softly as I’m assured everyday this character is me in every way. I can smile each time I get out of bed every morning knowing that I’ve found my identity with this character and I know my place in this world. It’s really quite funny how similar this character is to me, it’s almost like we’re identical twins. When I first saw this character, I had an existential crisis. What if this character was the real me and I was the fictional being. What if this character actual became aware of my existence? Did this character have the ability to become self aware itself?
...
How did you get a pictue of me?
Fucking SIlent Hill collection
DON'T FUCKING REMIND ME
Literally anything besides Resident Evil.
I liked the actual gameplay much more than original DMC.
Stop posting pictures of myself
I know it's funny to post some random dude on the net, but that's actually me.
Please delete this before it spreads.
Final Fantasy X
Everyone looks soulless in the HD Remake of that game.
Delete this.
Yes, i'm sure it was much easier for you to understand and enjoy since they made the enemies color coded.
Super Mario 64 DS
Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
How did they fuck it up so fucking bad? It makes no fucking sense. if you're going to do a re-release like that you're supposed to improve upon it in someway, not fuck it all up.
Not that part. But the part where controls were actually comfortable.
Tomb Raider Anniversary
Silent hill 2
Tales of Phantasia. I don't understand how you can go from perfect to beyond perfect to shit to beyond shit so smoothly.
Pokémon Firemen/Leaf Green.
it's not you dude lol
I'm not really sure why I think ORAS is worse than the originals (in particular Emerald), but I agree with you. I've been playing a difficulty hack of it recently, though, and it's sort of entertaining, in a "waste hours grinding because you chose your pokemon wrong" sort of way, I guess.
Kirby Super Star Ultra.
They lost the final versions source code and got a cheap studio to port it. Cheap studio working with beta code = disaster.
...
kek
>Literally mee on the left.
I don't recall controls ever being an issue in the DMC series. I remember the camera being fucking awful though.
To name a few
>Super Mario 64 DS
>Ocarina of Time DS
>Silent Hill Collection
>Halo Anniversary (if played in """"""""""""remastered""""""""""""" graphics)
>All of the Pokemon remakes
SWING MUSIC
JAZZ
PHOOEY
>But the part where controls were actually comfortable.
trigger switching for styles was DMC's only saving grace. That and they just copy pasted Nero.
Ocarina of Time 3D
Your reply
Nah fuck off, that's ME.
Not YOU, it's ME.
What was wrong with Mario 64? The controls were a bit off, because nothing can replace the N64 controller, but otherwise it seemed only better to me.
>firemen
They should have had the decency to not do it then, and just tell people that.
But that would mean not cashing in on an easy buck, I suppose.
>Star Fox Zero
Genuinely surprised this wasn't mentioned
Nightmare in Dreamland and MM3D are loved but they genuinely are worse than the originals.
Not him but I personally found it much more tedious to 100% and the way they decreased the swimming speed kinda irks me. Other than that I find it to be a serviceable remake.
the new graphics are far worse and console games arn't meant to be played on handheld. It's a downgrade that unfortunately has exclusive content (like PS1 Doom)
How did I make two posts at the same time?
>pic related so you know it's me who made them
That is objectively better than the original
>hey guys, remember how we stuck an analog stick on the n64 for super mario 64?
>what if we ported it to the DS?
>but that doesn't have an analog stick
>no it's fine you can just put on a thumbstrap pad and use the touch screen as a fake one it'll be fine and definitely not completely awful
>what if we at least took this chance to fix the one thing people didnt like about sm64, the camera?
>nah
>oh lets also add a bunch of boring fluff with yoshi and character switching that isnt fun at all
I mean, you should never expect a console to handheld port to be without it's downsides, but why? At least the minigames were good
is this a new jojo character?
Metroid started the formula, Super refined it. ZM was a boring mishmash of recycled content. Whenever it actually did do something original, it was usually really stupid like Mecha Ridley or forcing you to go pick up an upgrade you couldn't use to make arbitrary blocks vanish.
it really is better? heard bad things desu
holy shit you're right I never noticed, why, this could become a meme!!
Heart Gold and Soul Silver.
Lufia 2
What bad things did you hear about the remake? That it was easier?
If you think
>Better controls
>better puzzle design
>Better engine
>removal of the shitty puzzles
>Addition of newer potentially easier puzzles
>Removal of the rom fetchquest
>Removal of the maze of galious area
Is considered "easier" or "worse" then kys
The only thing that was improved in this game from the original was the music, thanks to hardware improvements allowing for the use of a real orchestra. And even then, not all of the songs from the original game were remade. I would recommend buying the soundtrack to the remake on iTunes (if you don't mind actually paying money for things instead of pirating them for free), but not buying the remake itself.
>medievil 3 never
>twin Sandford boss fight
>have to use fists instead of using sword
Why the fuck did they think this was even okay?
>the one thing people didnt like about sm64, the camera?
It was the first adjustable camera in existence and it worked better than most games since.
You're just being a faggot.
Ratchet PS4
Much worse story, character and humour
Generic music
Easy
Less planets
wrong,the movement was always janky.
Medievil composer is working on a new PS4 game
yes, it works perfectly fine, the stages are built perfectly around the camera
still no reason to not include a better one in the remake, dumbass.
... i liked the msx music :(
Comon, give a challenge. This is the 2010's, all cool kids hate on new games whether shit or not.
>yes, it works perfectly fine, the stages are built perfectly around the camera
>the one thing people didnt like
???
>a better one
How could you even improve it?
I know, it hurts me too.
It's probably not going to be another MediEvil game. And if it is, it's probably gonna suck anyway and kill the franchise AGAIN (even if I'd be so wrapped up in the nostalgia-hype that I'd forget about all that once it was first announced).
I've only played the original and it sounds like the movement controls are faithful in the remake.
>30 fps
Nah.
...
I can't tell if FF7R will be better or not.
>what if we at least took this chance to fix the one thing people didnt like about sm64, the camera?
>nah
That's the one thing 64DS unquestionably improved upon.
An alarming number of people in this thread don't seem to know the difference between "remake" and "reboot". Come on, guys.
nope
no
>game gets a gritty reboot to appeal to the west
>it ends up being the best game in the series
This looked fantastic other than changes to mainline boss eyeball shtick.
Also, made Gyorg hilariously easy compared to original, at least minis were unchanged.
do you mean majoras mask as a remake of OoT
or the 3DS remake of MM
because one is absolutely correct and the other is so very wrong.
As long as you don't play with seaplanes, I agree.
>People honestly thought Gyorg was hard
Like how did you beat him? I honestly want to hear your strategy for defeating that boss if you think he's hard in anyway. Help me to understand.
>As long as you don't play with seaplanes, I agree.
wats wrong with seaplanes
Ys The Oath in Felghana
The Ape Escape remake on the PSP was perfect
Star Fox Zero
So I'm like 10 years old right
So I play silent hill right
So I play the first four games right
And I fucking love it
But then
Then it all starts tumbling down tumbling down tumbling down
FUCK
I dont think its possible to fuck up real time combat worse than ATB as used in FF7, the real issue is if they dont jew out on recreating all of the content from the original
this
That's what I've heard, is it really that bad?
It's a shame because I thought the redesigns looked pretty sweet and I'm totally into tomboys, but unfortunately it just failed to live up to the original.
You're both right and wrong.
Nightmare in Dreamland had better mini games, and had the Metaknight mode. It's overall better.
the game itself is actually fine. at heart it's a really good and interesting star fox 64 remake. The set pieces are really cool, and some of the ideas are great
but
>GYRO CONTROLS MANDATORY
>VOICE ACTING PLAYS THROUGH SHITTY GAMEPAD SPEAKERS
fucking ruin it. Seriously, the control scheme is borderline retarded, and the fact that there's very little options about these things, makes it fucking suck if you can't actually manage to adapt to them.
It's the same issue that skyward sword had. Skyward sword was a pretty great zelda game, but the fact that it REQUIRED wii motion plus, and the fact that you were forced to use the motion controls to sword fight properly (because some bosses/enemies could only be hurt from certain swings) bogged it down to shit.
I respectfully disagree.
shut up fucking hipster.
Well formulated argument you got there.
