Yakuza thread - best thread. Bumping.

Any news on the release format of yakuza 0?

Any news about Yakuza 6 and Black Panther patch?

Nope and dunno. Never heard of black panther. Elaborate?

Psp games. Never got released in west, like Kenzan and Ishin. There's a fan translation patch in works. youtu.be/GBr_ujgilOs

Really dig those comic book style cutscenes. Not really sure about the combat system. Looks odd to me.

Story:
Yakuza > Kenzan > Yakuza 2 > 4 > 3 > 5
Gameplay:
Latest one is the best

>Black Panther patch
It's progressing steadily, apparently.

> Well, giving an overall percentage is not easy, but I can tell you that menus, cutscenes and story are fully translated. Many graphics have been too. That leave the substories, many items descriptions, etc. and some text-heavy minigames.

I bet you everything I have the fucking minigames will be the holdup.

I've got 1 to 4 in possession right now. Gonna buy yakuza 5 soon. Am currently only about halfway through yakuza 2. Shit's a blast. How much does the gameplay change in the newer games? I for one quite like the quirky dated combat of yakuza 1.

Was there ever any reason given why Kenzan and Ishin were never translated? God knows PS4 could've used more games back then and it's not like you need to be familiar with Yakuza to play it.

Well, if it has similar structure as Kenzan, it shouldn't be that hard. Substories are real bitch. It's a fuckton of text to translate.

I think 1 and 2 have more intentionally slower and methodical combat. 3 introduced seamless transition to combat while subsequent games introduced various "heat modes". 4 and 5 also have multiple playable characters with their own stories, for better or worse.

>rubber bullets

Too japanese to bother with such huge game, apparently
Difference is not that noticeable in 5 unlike 1-2 jump, but it feels great. Zero made a huge jump allowing you to switch styles on the fly.

Rubber bullets as in guns do jack shit? Saw the thing about the multiple characters. Quite intrigued to see how that will open up. The idea of the combat becoming more fluent and fast is also a mouth watering idea.

Fuck I cannot wait till this comes out this year...

No spoil plox

I hated that akiyama only got a small part in 5 to balance out how boring harukas is

Post your favorite tracks youtube.com/watch?v=iZJgLHgOEMw&index=54&list=FLehQYU2GoiN-_t9eqQ7hgzg

Wasn't the yakuza 1 remake also gonna feature that "switch on the fly styles" thing?

>this year

Zero started it and Kiwami is not getting western release any time soon anyway

>I BELIEVE IN YOOOUU

youtube.com/watch?v=eigc6AV04XQ

to be fair jumping even from 1 to 2 already saw massive reduction in load times. I remember being able to go take a piss and come back for some combat loading in the first game.

Here's to hoping.

I think will especially considering SEGA is becoming more pro-digital. While I am disappointed 5 never saw physical release I'll take what I can get for future games.

Rubber bullets is a silly plothole in one of the games.

Good thread kyoudai.

Am I the only one who never cared about the hostess thing? It's a Japanese cultural element completely lost on me.

Anybody knows where ASM programmers hang out?

>2017 release for Y0 because the entire dev team is working on 6

Nope. It's tedious for getting 100%. Getting 20 hearts in Yakuza 3 and 4 was overkill. Glad they changed the system in 5 and Kiwami by reducing the hostess count for 100%. Still the rank system is a hit and miss.

The western version of Yakuza 3 got it right in terms of hostess clubs. Completely removed and you could only date them at the food joints.

Wasn't physical release confirmed already?

Kiwami soundtrack is the worst in the series.

Arigato user-san.

It was a lot less tedious in 5

BEST GIRL

Holy shit why is Saejima's prison shit so fucking long and now I'm at a stupid fucking village where's the damn city

>not liking comfy village and Okudera-bro
This series might be not for you.

I just beat the bear but the prison shit was really getting on my nerves. Good to hear this part is good.

BABA-CHAN!!

fuck that little faggot

physical confirmed, US/EUR, 2017.

If you never played a Yakuza game, 4 is a great entry point. Includes video digests for the 3 previous ones and cheap on PSN.

Only have to get yakuza 5 off psn. But shit a physical release of 0 would be mint.

Is demo for y6 still available?

exactly my thought

Rushed the shit out of that part and then spent like 15 hours being fabulous as Haruka

Saejima is always the worst character with the worst parts, I wish they took him away and kept the Chinese policeman in his place.

He's also slow as fuck when he fights and ugly

Oh come on, village was comfy af.

Honestly I thought all the stories past 2 were really average. 3 is terribly paced and half the game is spent on Okinawa. By the time the game starts rolling, it's already over (which made me really sad cos Mine had potential to be a cool villain). 4 and 5 were a step up from 3, but still paled in comparison to the first two games.

Kiryu just wants to retire but they keep dragging him back in whenever Daigo fucks something up (which is every game). The story feels kinda empty when Kiryu doesn't really have much of a stake in things (unless you count Haruka being kidnapped for the 50th time) and he just shows up to kick some heads in because he's the poster boy.

I still think Ryuji was the best villain and I enjoyed 2 the most in terms of story. The big fight at the end on top of the building while the bomb ticked down is still the best moment in the series to me.

Gameplay wise the game improves every game at the least. I still enjoy the games even if the story is a bit meh

I was all smiles when Saejima had to fight a fucking bear. It was also a neat reference if you can call it that since Saejima's VA voices Takamura Mamoru in Hajime no Ippo where he also fights a bear.

Fucking good ass game.

DON DON

>Best Music
Yakuza 3
>Best game
so far 5, though my favorite otherwise is 3
>best moments
Y1 - crossdressing asassin stripper
Y2 - side mission be my baby
Y3 - Final Boss fight
Y4 - Kiryu Fight as sajima
Y5 - Baba-Chan fight(with sajima), Kiryus storm on kammurucho hills

as for Yakuza zero still waiting for it to be translated but I bought the ps3 version just to do the disco minigame

Nah, I like this one and the song that plays during that high test bug lady game.

I really wish the series had gone somewhere else after 2, instead of just rehashing "Lol Kiryu's retired but he has to come back ONE LAST TIME..........." since it's starting to feel way too repetitive. Like, give me a Yakuza game set in a different city with different characters to get a different perspective, maybe a story where you're a low level scrub part of the Omi Alliance instead of the Tojo, whatever. Yakuza 0 looks like it could be interesting and fun because it's presenting a fresh twist on the series by taking place in a different time period and before Kiryu became legendary and all but if 6 is just another Kiryu Comes Back To Fix Daigos Mistakes But Doesnt Actually Come Back For Real then I don't know if I'll buy it.

Daigo is so fucking useless

Best moment in 5 was the dock fight with Kiryu. Him casually sidestepping anti tank missiles will always be funny

There's the Black Panther games if you can't handle the spin-offs if you feel like you won't be able to separate Kiryu from the guy he's playing.

Also in 0 Kiryu is still a god and still well meaning, he's just more cocky and a bit more violent about it
