It's like the current obsession in making all villains likable/charismatic, when it's perfectly fine making an unlikable one. (Same applies to main characters.)

Also, the psuedo flaws you're talking about in female characters, also applies to male characters, but are usually different flaws.

These are designed to make them more attractive to the gender who likes them.

All the Tumblr fanfiction around does the same with typical love interest males, that get females to like them. All the "Flaws" are actually there to make them better, rather than worse.


Problem with making every character perfect, is that they end up being mostly the same character over and over, because most people tend to like most of the same stuff.
