>one of the starting weapons is the best weapon throughout the entire game
One of the starting weapons is the best weapon throughout the entire game
They should really nerf her
>balance at work
RE4
not really. You can make the best case for the original shotgun, but the 3rd shotgun blows it out of the water in every conceivable way. You don't actually get a rifle until pretty far into the game and the semi-auto is way better, and the starting handgun is plainly the worst handgun unless you're really lucky.
I was thinking about the knife.
oh shit
>Not doing a no orders playthru by default
lol.
>Get the legendary magical elven woven steel armor by finding its pieces strewn across the tombs of heroes and having an alchemist use magic to reforge it
>Transfer it into the sequel
>It's worse than some piece of shit leather armor you make yourself in the first backwater shithole town
Sounds like you got scammed.
Saw Cleaver
>lighsaber
>the best weapon in the game is a joke weapon
>All weapons are shit tier and your fists are noticeably better than every weapon.
>One of the best weapons can be found within minutes of playing
Black Knight Halberd
>Get two pieces of equipment of the same type that both have really useful, but completely different effects
My friend lent me his copy of MGS3D to play since I had never played it before, and since he had already beaten the game on that cart, the infinite ammo gun was in my inventory from the beginning.
I didn't realize I wasn't supposed to have it until I got stuck at the End fight and talked with him about the game.
What game does this?
>Luckily get the Black Knight Sword off of that first Black Knight in the Burg on my first playthrough
>Know nothing about scaling or how much other weapons can be upgraded, only that the Black Knight Sword has way fucking higher numbers than everything else I came across
>Meet the giant blacksmith in Anor Londo
>Upgrade the Black Knight Sword to +5
>Now its numbers crush the fuck out of everything else even harder
>Use it until I get the Black Knight Greataxe, which has even higher numbers
I didn't really play Dark Souls until my second time through.
Fuck I've only played through DaS once and used the BKH mostly
What should I use for another playthrough? Dual Caestus seems fun but kind of in a too hard/meme way
Most people use the halbard or claymore for their first play through, maybe try something like that?
>getting an Astora Straight Sword drop from one of the knights in Undead Parish
Not quite starting weapon, but dual Caestus in Dark Souls 2.
Plasma Cutter from Dead Space.
What, really? Even if you rushed Darkroot, you wouldn't have the stats for it
Witcher?
SL1 Pyromancer, no pyromancy, reinforced clubs only (it's good to have the varies upgrade types on hand)
>game has cursed equipment
>no way to remove the curse permanently from the item or a build that relies on buffing you via cursed gear so it's only good for selling
>longsword
Not that hard to get 22/18 str/dex fast. Warrior only needs 14 points. 9 str and 5 dex.
Shotgun from Doom and Rebellion from Devil May Cry.
>game give best unique weapon in te beginning of the game
>most fun weapon to use from the rest weapon type available in-game
>no upgrades for it later even after the credits roll
>bare fists are the best weapon for your class
Thanks based Final Fantasy 1
>starting weapon seems bad when you're unskilled, but as you get better you realise it's the best one in the game
>the shittiest training wooden weapon evolves into the best weapon in the game if you use it enough
I think fists were good on MA's in DQIX as well
>design of the most powerful weapon is exactly the same as the starting weapon
Not him, but he could be referring to MMOs, like how in WoW, your purple (epic / raid) armors pale in comparison to the new green (uncommon / quest) and blue (rare / dungeon) armors in the next exapnsion packs.
>Start out with all the best weapons and gear at your disposal.
Immediately taken away from you after the first boss fight and you have to go look for them throughout the course of the game in order to challenge the boss again.
>you can upgrade the first weapon in the game to the strongest weapon in the game if you refrain from trading it for another weapon
At least in WoW, most of the time that's just handwoven as a gameplay thing. Important items (like Illidan's glaives or whatever) are still top dog lore-wise over the dinky knife you found in panda land.
> game has cursed equipment that has improved stats at the cost of a debuff
> half of the curses are so severe that they render any equipment useless
> the other half are so minor that there's no reason NOT to use them over un-cursed stuff
Is balance really that hard?
Yeah, but his argument was that the knife in panda land is more durable and much stronger than the legendary glaives which took effort to create.
Not gonna argue that glaives LOOK cooler than the knife, however.
>thorn mail
>thornlet
Unlabored Flawlessness is indeed a fantastic weapon.
>starting weapon is the most iconic
>but it's also the worst
>Game has upgrading paths for your gear
>Be drowning in upgrade materials within the first two chapters
>Can't keep upgrading your weapon because Plot Gates
>End of the game
>The strongest weapon looks like an upgraded version of the starting item
Or just literally the exact same model as the starting item. That happens too.
>no pyromancy
You're asking him to get shit on by Four Kings
>You start with a pistol
>With a single modification it becomes one of the most powerful weapons in the game
>Every weapon in the game can be leveled up
>99.9% of them stop at level 10
>mfw the default sword stops at level 255
>starting weapon isn't the best, but it's all-rounded usefulness keeps it relevant throughout the game, and it's always worth having one on hand
What game?
Samurai Western for PS2
Most weapons have a large stat growth in their stats, while the default sword only gets +1 in everything per level. So the default sword isn't absolutely superior until level 50 or so.
But past that, the starting sword becomes the absolute best weapon barring the odd, purpose specific weapons, like the one that gives you shitloads of special meter.
Hey.
Rust weapons from dragons dogma?
Are they?
I don't remember them being any useful later on at all.
poison
You mean torpor, right? Poison is absolute shit but torpor is broken as fuck.
I like that there's a trophy for using only this to beat the game.
True enough.
Still, that's more a specialist purpose than being a good all rounder
I'm pretty sure he refers to Witcher 1 -->Witcher 2
It's possible to transfer equipment from the first game, and the best armor in the first game becomes obsolete very very very soon. Which is pretty funny because that armor has some pretty serious lore around it in the first game, not to mention the trouble you go throw in gathering it.
I don't like when this happens, it feels like there's no sense of progress.
