They're all manlets, easy to get ganged up on by bigger units like Black Orcs and Chaos Warriors, you can hardly see them in the thick of battle
And it's not like they do anything impressive, even if they did you'd not be able to see them because they're so short.
Compared to the big, tall, thick Orcs and all the cool beasts and undead, these Dwarves simply fall short.

I played a lot of Rome 2 but only barely touched Attila, it felt like the same game but patched

Everyone's saying Warhammer is good though, and well optimized, generally polished and bug free.
I think CA got a free pass with Rome 2 because Shogun 2 was so good and everyone was hyped for Rome 2. After the fiasco everyone's suspicious so if you look at reviews they're nitpicking about performance and bugs and they still say they game is very good on both issues.
I dunno man, in a few editions of the tabletop games at least Dwarves stopped pretty much anything dead in its tracks.

From the gameplay I've seen cavalry honestly looks fucking shit in this game compared to most infantry, gets torn to shreds by all the efficient ranged units before they can do enough work.

Attila is great. It's a vast improvement over Rome 2 and introduces a lot of cool mechanics that were carried over to Warhammer like migrating hordes and razing cities. My only complaint with the game is that unless you buy the faction DLCs then most of the factions you can play as other than Romans and Persians are just some variant of Germanic tribe that play pretty much the same.

Empire is 16th century steampunk tier and has guns, tanks and shit. Their units wear lighter armor as a result.
Bretonnia is medieval high fantasy and gets knights, levies and a focus on magic instead. Pretty much a Medieval 2 faction.
