Are you guys ready to watch some League of Legends on ESPN?

Are you guys ready to watch some League of Legends on ESPN?
Normies don't know or care about e-sports and gamers just watch it on Twitch.
This is a retarded investment.
Valve beat them to it.
espn still exists?
Why these stupid fucking types of games
Why the fuck do I not get to see RTS on the tv
>League is boring as death to watch
>ESPN viewers don't give a shit about e-sports
wew
I think they could get normalfags invested if the game was simple-looking enough so they understood what was going on, but they'd also have to make the players more relatable as well. They found enough unique personalities to air that poker shit all the time, surely there are some game players who aren't completely social shut-ins.
>Are you guys ready to watch some League of Legends on ESPN?
I look forward to not watching, just like when they broadcast poker and spelling bees. Same shit.
unfortunately
ESPN can't go bankrupt soon enough.
MOBAs are extremely alien to people who don't play them, much less play videogames at all.
FPSes, RTSes and Fighting games are straightforward enough visually for normal people to pick up on at least.
If this was about Dota, people here would be excited even though they're the same shit
>E!SPN is one of the worst sports networks to watch
>hey guys lets add vidya gaems
I hope this completely backfires but it probably won't because League is like a fucking drug to everyone who plays it
There is no way this could end well. Rules of normal sports are well known for a long time. CSGO is easy to follow, its people shooting each other
League would need some pre-game explanation every single time
It really bothers me that people actually watch that shit game. I don't understand how or why. It boggles my fucking mind at how anyone could see it as even remotely interesting or entertaining to watch.
>tfw no national SupCom tournament to watch on a lazy afternoon
As per usual with ESPN, they just want to have things no one else does, even if no one else wants them.
Reminder that ESPN = Disney
I can't wait for people to make fun of it again. Last time ESPN showed a LoL all of the normal sports reporters called it pathetic trash for losers. It was a gold mine watching all the ASSFAGs cry about it.
they also talk about apehoop and divegrass, doesnt mean i give a shit
I hate LeL as much as the average dotard but it's the most played online game in the world right now. And its players enjoy seeing people playing it at its highest level, just like any other activity/sport.
>ESPN is losing viewership year after year, constantly rated in user polls as low quality content
>Wanting a partnership with that
This would be an extremely stupid move. ESPN already showed that no one was interested in the E-Sports segments that they bothered to show, and "gamers" are not watching TV. They're in the generation of cord cutters and internet media, which ESPN still has failed to break into.
Getting involved with "old media" based companies is bad. Riot is retarded. League is shit. Where are the video games?
ESPN can't go bankrupt
They're the one thing holding up cable tv
>Are you guys ready to watch some League of Legends on ESPN?
ESPN already has League on it
>E!SPN
what is this meme
Dota was already on espn, but nobody cared, only some mad sportcucks that their channel had vidya.
At least interesting stuff happens in dota but who gives a shit about ESPN when Twitch exists?
Daily Reminder that ESPN is bleeding in ratings so badly that it hurting the whole US cable industry
see
I would watch this desu
>that it hurting the whole US cable industry
explain
unrelated, why is the super bowl on Fox and not ESPN?
good, fuck comcast, time warner, cox, fuck all of them
A sports network thats become more obsessed with the drama behind players and shit than the actual sport itself
I don't have cable, my city shutdown local cable last fucking year, can't even watch anything unless you pay now. So I don't watch tv anymore, just watch twitch/youtube
Fucking good
>want to see scores
>have to suffer through the daily sob story about how LeJayquan escaped poverty
wew fuck off
oh, its a reference to that shitty E! channel then? makes sense
I hate LoL and DotA equally.
Will cable TV even exist in ten years?
Even premium content (HBO and other movie networks) that has been synonymous with cable television for decades is jumping ship. They're all making deals with Amazon or doing something like HBO Now.
Cable providers are the ones holding up TV. Getting the TV+Internet package is significantly cheaper than just getting internet access alone.
itll take longer, it stays afloat because they package cable with the internet in many places and you have no choice but to have it.
TV and movies are cancer all around. I hope that none of it exists in 10 years
You literally need to read a guide to understand how to even watch a MOBA, how on earth LoL got so popular is beyond me. FPSs and Fighters are much more watchable.
>I CANT UNDERSTAND VIDYAGAEM TOO HARD?
LoL isnt that hard, it just has a lot of characters and skills, the basics are simple.
I only started played 2 years ago and I am diamond 1.
get gud.
Fighters are at least more fun to watch even if you have no idea what the fuck is going on
What's a good website for streaming that doesn't care about what you do? I miss Sup Forums movie nights but will ustream/livestream/whatever else shut me down?
>ESPN Hemorrhaging money
>Spends $500 million for Esports
>mfw
Whoever pays gets the rights. Fox, NBC, and CBS have the rights to most games. ESPN has the rights to Monday Night Football and that's pretty much it.
I don't even use Comcast for internet anymore. Tethering to my cell phone is faster than Comcast's incredibly overpriced "business class" was.
they also own almost all NBA tv rights, but thats not doing them any favors
I hope Chris Berman does commentary
>Having to pay to watch a certain game only for a set amount of time
vs
>Just go on twitch and have a selection of stuff to watch
>FPSes, RTSes and Fighting games are straightforward enough visually for normal people to pick up on at least.
This. Some guys jumping around shooting, easy to get. People punching each other and doing some dragon ball shit, simple. One team of weird creatures running around one side of the map doing stuff while the other half do other weird stuff and then occasionally it classes in a load of effects and weird terms, normies won't get it
Isn't that illegal?
I thought PBS was supposed to be accessible by the entire country. Unless you're not American, of course.
I would sacrifice a country to have this become a reality.
OMG I hope they do so it can crash and crumble horribly.
>OMG
Honestly if it wasn't for Sup Forums and /vg/ I would of never heard about league. Never knew anyone who played it or watched it or even talked about it.
the world championship was aired last year so no big news
>ESPN Hemorrhaging money
Source? The only info I got online was that ESPN has lost 7 million subscribers in the last 2 years.
ESPN comes with basic cable. It doesn't have subscribers.
>ESPN
Error. Keks not found in this image macro.
Why did RTS not follow the TA route
Why did we get nothing but micro apm shit
Imma D-gun some Korean
ESPN's quality of life is symbiotic with Stuart Scott's. When he was healthy the network was fun and entertaining. When he started dying it did as well. Only one of the two were allowed to continue on as an undead husk of what it once was through the magic of Disney. They chose the wrong one.
>cable television
why
With that fucking in game client to watch matches I doubt normies will understand
why dont they just show fps, anyone can understand and appreciate that in the western world?
Then build off of that fanbase with other genres.
Thanks.
CSGO is being shown on another cable network (TBS) starting this week.
...
thanks man.
