Pretty damn great
But I'm mad the sequel didn't even get half of it's original's atmosphere
It did desolation and loneliness better than legitimate horror games. I wish it would get a true sequel.
This.
I loved the game and it pulled creepiness off perfectly without resorting to blood and horror
It also was a surprisingly spot on parody of Resident Evil
Excellent game that I can still enjoy.
Shame it never got a real sequel.
Lackluster and a cheap budget title.
Still my fav Gamecube's game since... shit, 15 freaking years
One of the better games for the GCN. Too short but otherwise a great game.
The sequel sucked ass though; wish Nintendo would make a real sequel someday.
>Luigi's Mansion by the Fatal Frame team
Yes or no?
*humming intensifies*
My favorite game, too bad Dark Moon did not sit well with me. It's probably not a bad squeal but my expectations were too high
Proof that Nintendo actually can make original ideas and use their established characters at the same time. Why don't they do that more often?
No. Too much horror.
Ahich one of you is samefagging? The poster count didn't rise, faggot.
A pretty good launch game.
"......Mario?"
I recently bought it and I'm really enjoying it, even more than Dark Moon.
It was the first gamecube title I saw gameplay of at a store and back then when I saw that little cutscene of luigi's hand twisting the doorknob, I thought that looked like the most photo realistic shit in the world. It blew my mind.
GameCube virtual console on wii u fucking when
I just want to play the game again..
This.
Seeing that white glove slide that key in and turn it was so fucking satisfying to watch.
Its sequel is underrated.
Yes.
Who the fuck thought a Kids horror game was a good idea?
I really liked the multiple settings but the music wasn't nearly funky enough

Real Sequel when?
Yes, as long as they realize it's still supposed to be silly and cartoony.
Why are you guys shitting on Dark Moon so hard?
Yeah thats not gonna happen. For some reason the Fatal Frame team takes themselves seriously.
Why does Luigi always get the short end of the stick? Mario gets a tropical vacation and he gets a Haunted House.
I'm pretty sure it's one guy who has some kind of special childhood connection to the first game and felt betrayed because he didn't play the 2nd game during that same time.
>Shame it never got a real sequel.
But it did.
Dark Moon is about as much of a sequel as Chrono Cross is to Trigger.
Dark Moon only had the problem of terror and atmosphere. Everything else was perfect.
Dark Moon is terribly underrated and doesn't deserve the hate.
that's the first time l've seen luigi's mansion described as "terrifying" and "creepy", are you faggots preschoolers?
l've always thought it had great atmosphere but it was clearly supposed to be cartoony like Ghostbusters or Scooby Doo, and Dark Moon perfectly respected that.
>It did desolation loneliness better than legitimate horror games.
>MAAAAARIOOOOO
That's what the scary thing about this game was. You truly felt alone.
Also the the Ghosts were spooky as fuck
DIDIG NAAAAAAAAAAAAADGDGDG I used to have nightmares of this nigga grabbing me and throwing me into a fire.
Was it a sexual thing?
It's a picture, but I wouldn't call it art.
How do you get a fucking gold on this ghost?
Can you only do it in the hidden mansion or has someone actually gotten gold on normal mansion?
That was supposed to be Van Gore right?
>How do you get a fucking gold on this ghost?
You don't
Agreed. Luigi Mansion didn't tried to be an actual horror game, by the simple fact of not having jumpscares and being obvious.
For some reason I always thought it was supposed to be Neville, but holy shit you're right.
There were also potriats of Lydia and Shivers. There are some pictures of Spooky and Sue Pea I remember seeing. Also pic related was born a ghost
Luigi's Mansion had some interesting lore.
Amazing. I fucking love Luigi's Mansion. The sequel doesn't hold a candle to it though.
The original's flow was perfect, switching to mission based segmentation was one of the stupidest things they could have done.
Also, the original's ghosts were fantastic.
>Shivers
I recall finding portraits of everyone but him. Do you remember what room it's in?
Also 90% sure there's a portrait of Melody in the Sitting Room on the back wall, but it's been a while since I revisited this game.
HEY ANONS
GUESS WHAT?
Luigi's Mansion is 18 years old
what?
WHAT?
>mfw the power went out and you had to find the ghost to get the power back on
This a joke? It's only 15 years old.
He was the Parlor
When I was a kid I used to think it was the Dancing fellow
Better than Dark Moon.
Fuck Dark Moon.
It was so terrible I gave away my 3DS and Dark Moon to someone else.
It was that bad.
>switching to mission based segmentation was one of the stupidest things they could have done
This. The mission based gameplay took away the feeling of progress. I felt like I was doing the same rooms over and over again but with minor changes. Didn't feel right, definitely prefer the more open and lengthy progress of the original.
this
fucking how butthurt are you
I hated the fact that each mission only "required" going to one section but because each mission slightly changed everything, you had to go to every fucking room every single time to make sure you didn't miss something.
Literally half the game is pointless backtracking with no rewards.
I played Dark Moon and liked it, had flaws but found it fun. I have yet to play the original. Judging by this thread it seems the original will blow my mind?
Enough I gave away one of my hundreds of 3DS.
youtube.com
you have 99 seconds to find a track better than this in the game
If they had added a Mario 64 world hub castle style area that game would have been GOAT but instead they had the dumb menu which broke up gameplay and broke immersion.
Still enjoyed them both but the first is perfection.
It won't blow your mind and I'm pretty sure it's someone shitposting his opinion in here. It is better than the second game in my opinion but nothing crazy.
Its old Nintendo, with a big emphasis creepy horror tones. Not mission based, one very large mansion you progress through with tougher and tougher boss ghosts and puzzle rooms.
Its really good, emulate it
I would want a sequel on whatever Nintendo's next console is, but I know they would take it even further in Dark Moons direction which is the wrong way to go.
How do you fuck up this bad?

>capturing the last few boos on boolossus
Scalping? Collecting? Gamestop dumpster diving?
>being able to suck everything up with your vacuum
>even shit like the posters on the wall
pretty cool back then
Easy one: youtube.com
Also not gonna say this is better but I always adored this track, had a wacky charm to it.

Anyone got a clean Hidden Mansion file I can plug into Dolphin?
I dont wanna use that slow ass regular Poltergust from the regular mansion
Pretty sure there's a cheat code to just have it right away.
>one very large mansion you progress through
That's really pushing it. The first game is terribly short, which is one thing that Dark Moon majorly improved on. The first 2 mansions in Dark Moon alone come close to almost having the same amount of areas as the entirety of the 1st game, and mansions 3, 4, and 5 are even bigger.
Some of you guys really need to get some self awareness and learn to judge modern sequels on their own merit without wearing nostalgia goggles for the first game.
Great game, but Nintendo Should've had a Mario game ready as a launch title instead. It was a huge blunder in my opinion.
Luigi's Mansion is my waifu.
That's a dumb distinction, it's clearly a Mario series game. Who cares who the protagonist is?
NOOTNAAA
Not having a Mario game as a launch title more than likely alienated a lot of potential, casual customers from buying a Gamecube.
Alienated by Luigi at that point in time? You pretty much have to just know the franchise as Mario 64 and nothing else for that to happen.
