Was SPM as bad or worse than Sticker Star? The gameplay is shit but there's really no Mario game with a story as good as this even if that doesn't excuse gameplay.
Was SPM as bad or worse than Sticker Star...
It was much better than Sticker Star.
Sticker Star had better gameplay though, so as a game it is better.
SPM was a good game. People just hated it because it wasn't a RPG
>Sticker Star had better gameplay
Epic post
SPM is better than TTYD
>Sticker Star had better gameplay though
Have you played it?
it's a very good game, different to be sure, but very good.
Super Paper Mario was the best entry in the franchise.
Give me its action-oriented fighting over the turn-based combat seen in the Nintendo 64 and GameCube Paper Mario games any day.
Super Paper Mario at least had the writing flair that made Paper Mario what it is. But I'll forever be mad that I beat it within one day of purchasing it.
Chapter 8 was golden, too bad the rest was chock-full of utterly boring shit, there was about 4 or 5 sub chapters besides that which actually had some fun in them.
It should have just been mainly action levels.
You like most enemies being slow turds? You can't just make something real-time and not balance it out. It was a waste of a game.

This.
So much worse than sticker star. I'd even go as far as saying this is the worst Gane I've ever played
Why does anyone say the gameplay is shit when it plays like your average Mario game.
Story was good and probably the best for a Mario game although overall it's overrated and the gameplay is fine, way better than Sticker Star for sure. That game was shit.
Basically this.
Haven't tried Sticker Star, but this is one of the worst games I've ever played. Fucking toddler-tier combat and the story is just the average JRPG. The entire game should have been a Princess Peach dating sim.
Super was only slightly below TTYD in my opinion.
The only truly bad thing about Super was how lazy the character designs felt at times.
...
>TTYD: Story: B
>Super Paper Mario: A
I quit SPM half-way through because I realized I didn't connect to the story and the gameplay was shit.
I dunno, SPM while a different genre was still solid as far as mechnics went, it was a perfectly functional platformer and the environments were immersive enough.
At the very least it wasn't nearly as bad as the Sticker Star mechanics which deserve a D
Everyone one of you saying gameplay was shit are just mad it wasn't a "paper mario" game.
If it was released as "Super 3D Mario" instead, it would have been hailed as one of the greatest mario game.
it was a million times better than sticker star
it has a story that blew everything out of the water and the OST was fantastic, the only flaw it had was the strange gameplay
3 reasons
1) TTYD fags who wanted a proper sequel
2) PM fans who blame this for SS being different
3) Some game styles don't translate to RPG mechanics. Standard mario platforming is one of them
>was a good game
its not really, though. Its an okay game. The platforming is pretty meh, the puzzles are meh, the RPG mechanics are meh. The thing lives and dies on its writing, and the writing is funny but occasionally becomes overbearing.
TTYD and PM64 are much better.

Honestly I liked SPMs story.
It was funny but also touching at many points which was unexpected but welcomed.
In fact I think part of the reason I liked the story in Undertale so much was because it reminded me of how SPM managed to be both humorous and touching simultaneously.
>Level design is boring and empty as hell, the tree in chapter 3 is the best level by far, and it's just below mediocre
>Boring and stiff movement/physics
>The game has no flow to it thanks to having to constantly pause the game to switch characters/pixels
>You'll never die and enemies are never a threat thanks to the level up system and being able to carr
>Constantly stopping for minutes of dialogue is more grating in a platformer than in a regulgar RPG, where that kind of thing is expected
>Obnoxious "puzzles" like hitting a sequence of like 50 blocks
Even a zero-effort Mario game like NSMB2 shits all over SPM in terms of gameplay.
Oops
>being able to carry up to 10 healing items so you can just shake off the minimal damage you take
It was kinda bland, but it sure as shit wasn't Sticker Stars. It had its moments, though it dropped being an RPG for just being a platformer. It was alright.
