What game? I know that axes have the most DPS in Skyrim.
In Oblivion, maces were good for stealth kills, since they had the highest burst damage when combined with the x6 sneak bonus.
In all the Souls games, swords are better than axes by far. Maces are okay against enemies weak to blunt.

Not OP but if I remember right, Mountain Blade.
I was maining a sword in my game but I dropped it in a siege battle. The nearest weapon I found was a mace and after I picked it up the game switched to easy mode

Zweihanders were originally used to break up pike formations. They were hardly good as weapons for killing people, too big and unwieldy.

Different user here. Yes, a zweihander would probably be alright against a pike formation, but you're right that they weren't used that way historically.
What they were actually used for was urban fighting, as a bodyguard's weapon or for crowd control. Most of the treatises on large two-handed sword fighting have a lot to say about controlling the breadth of your swings and using its reach to keep multiple opponents at bay.
