Put cute girls in your game

Go into finance instead

Cute lesbians please.

focus on gameplay first and foremost and make sure to play test your own goddamn game

also if art isnt your thing hire an artist for concept and character designs, better if said artist has some experience with mechanical design but that part isnt necessary

make sure your protag is trans and have a diverse cast of characters at least 80% black.

Pixelshit is on the brink, learn crappy PSX-era 3D modelling or vector-based 2D animation now and stay relevant

and then make resident evil

Any more tips?

make a dick gun

Make the girls in your game have thick eyebrows

criticize yourself constantly. dont tell yourself something is alright only because you think its alright for you and everybody else just doesnt get it. let others play test parts of your product. a perspective that is different from yours is very important.

Stop being a lazy piece of shit.

have short brown hair, a beard, glasses, and make hourly twitter posts about shit no one cares about

No... make a gun dick.

Have your friends play the game. All your friends. And your parents. You'll need feedback from normies to hardcore Dwarf Fortress players.

Furry porn makes money/

but i don't know any hardcore Dwarf Fortress players, and announcing in their general seems rude

listen to this user if you never want to finish anything.

Point was, you just need advice from a very dedicated player, someone that you know is ready to learn every line of code of your game just so he can abuse the shit out of it.

I'm making a rape based game.

Don't. We already got enough idiots thinking they can make games, no need for another one.

>focus on gameplay first and foremost
This so much. Also try to aim as low as possible. Try to make up just one simple mechanic for a puzzle game, and try to make as many levels as you can with that. Try to understand which levels end up fun and which don't and why and what could you do to improve them. Even amateur devs get distracted by shiny graphics. It's sad to see that a long waited amateur project ends up shit, because the developer spend more time on the sprites than on the actual gameplay. Don't do that. Take a look at Super Hexagon, VVVVVV or even at Tetris or chess. Graphics are nothing. Leave that to painters. Try to make an actual game first. After that, you can make your waifu come to life in all her glory.

Focus on a basic gameplay system and increasingly difficult obstacles that requires the player the master it the system in order to progress

Create a simple story but well developed story instead of trying to create a convuloted clusterfuck full of shallow symbolism and unrelatable conflicted characters

Mind the scope.

Fix nose.

from a consumer point of view plan your game to be cheaper and shorter compared to AAA games in order to find a niche in the market

Making a good game comes before trying to force a message.

remember, white males are the enemy.

Use your skills in actual fulfilling careers. Like simulation.

Best advice I can give you is stop posting on Sup Forums and start working on your game.
Making something good takes tons of time, you really need to dedicate all the time possible to it.

>stop posting on Sup Forums
how does one do this?

DAYTON-

If you actually enjoy video games you shouldn't have to ask. If you don't, then you aren't going to make shit.

dont do pixel shit we dont need more undertale
make games you´d want to play yourself
LISTEN TO THE COMMUNITY EVEN IF YOU MADE MONEY

What kind of gameplay for 2D squad based zombie game

If your idea is good, sell it to a big capable studio. Indie shit is never good because of their shitty budget so don't waste a good idea.

delete and make other game

Hotline Miami clone with strict resource management.

Invest your time and resources into learning to create games on the 3D platform, or you will always be a 2d easy cash grab game dev who makes "retro" styled pixel art games with hipster tier dialogue and cringey linear driven story games.

Also, stop identifying with the extreme left or you will become a marginalized dev, by your own doing.

the best advice possible, don't ask Sup Forums for tips on ANYTHING!

Do what I did, get in contact with other indie devs. A handful are arseholes but most are more than happy to have a friendly chat and its very insightful.

Sup Forums is for shilling your game, not for anything "important".

Get rid of that tumblr nose.

>don't ask Sup Forums for tips on ANYTHING!

but the most successful indie game ever was made with input from Sup Forums

Make a brothel management game, where there's an option for you to romance and marry one of the girl in the end.

The world is seriously lacking of it right now.

start generating word of mouth for you game six months before release. digitally distribute promo art, compile a trailer, release a short demo if the game's longer than four hours

find out what commonly disliked elements plague your genre and try to avoid them, but don't succumb to building your game via committee. You should have a very specific artistic vision, even if it doesn't seem like something that would appeal to people other than you.

swap the zombies with something more flavorful. the can still be functionally zombies, just dress them up a bit. lots of people see 'zombie' and read it as 'I lack the creativity to think of something better, all my other ideas are also probably uncreative as hell'

once a unit gets infected, it has a brief period where its more powerful but still under your control. that way players will be tempted to intentionally let a unit get infected so that it can protect the others and hopefully cause a net reduction in number of threats present.

also unit permadeath that can only be switched off by turning on 'bitch mode' exact words.

I dunno but if you figure it out let me know.
>I'm an amateur dev not working on my game cuz Sup Forums.

Make it deep with a lot to explore and unlock

No DLC, microtransactions or liberal politics included

This. Just don't shove lgbt crap there. Make it cute and pure.

>my politics are ok tho

>No liberal politics
So it's fine to fill it with authoritarian right propaganda?

Make a 2D side scrolling game with social commentary if you want money

Actually learn how to make a game if you want to do something you're proud of.

>pure
>not lusty

>brothel management game
I don't know about marrying whores, but it sounds like an interesting enough addition to management/sim games.

the camwhore simulator Hunie released is basically that. I think there's even options for people to buy a night with the camwhores

>Sequel never

Quit. This industry is too shit to work in. Just enjoy the vidya that's being made.

Stick to for fun projects on RPG maker if you want to stimulate your creativity.

> No "lol so epic retro 8-bit shit" that indie dev shit produces
> make actual games, not movies
Follow those 2 and you're already on the right track

RIP St Bomber

Never go full SJW.

Learn c#
try to steer clear of memes
steer clear of politics
don't get too ambitious
be positive
be serious

once you figure out your premise and broad gist of what'll happen, devote the majority of your dev time to making the gameplay work good. polished, not just functional.

Leave your politics at the fucking door.

Dont take shit from sjw. Keep on doing the things you love.

Don't hire women.

Reduce scope.

mine wikiquote for things vaguely related to objects or themes in your game, and leave those quotes sprinkled everywhere in an unobtrusive way along with random shit you made up that vaguely alludes to the characters. people will obsess with finding everything and cataloging the 'deepest lore'

give me a 40% cut of your sales. I'll make it worth your while.

what if i want a good blowjob

> yanderedev in a nutshell with email

develop for vr before it's ultimately ruled out as a gimmick

Find old flash games and turn them into mobile games.

VR wont give me a blowjob

If anyone gives you shit for using pre-made engines such as Unity, Gamemaker, Unreal Engine, etc., don't listen to them.

For example, Hotline Miami and Spelunky were made using Gamemaker. It's about how you utilize your tools that get you fantastic results.

substance THEN style

Know the shit out of your intended genre. Making a lemmings style game for example? Then you had better play as many games in that style as you can find.

giantbomb.com/lemmings/3030-1446/similar-games/

> worms and yo noid
also find a better list

>fill it with authoritarian right propaganda
It would be extremely funny to play a poorly made game about jews, niggers and Sup Forums memes.

Don't expect to be successful.
Practice. Every. Day. If you're serious about this shit, you have to practice a LOT. It is HARD WORK. This means coding, art, whatever the fuck you do, do it a goddamned lot. Being an indie dev success means:
1. You got really goddamn lucky with the next big thing
2. You made something that is high enough quality that people are willing to give you money to own it.

If you don't enjoy coding or arting or whatever you're doing, give up now. You're never going to be able to stand it long enough to make something worthwhile.

If you're not doing code or art, you're probably useless.

Playing video games or reading forums or posting on twitter do not count as "practice" or "publicity" or "inspiration".

Expect to fail. There's a ton of aspiring game developers out there. The job market is utterly bloated with hopefuls.

You should probably use that skill you're practicing above to get a day job to support yourself, because unless you round down, statistically every single indie dev is a failure.

>If anyone gives you shit for using pre-made engines such as Unity, Gamemaker, Unreal Engine, etc., don't listen to them.
this

>all studios use UE or Unity with no problem
>hurr durr hardcode your own engine thats the only way

You could even start your game as a mod and that would give you better results than starting from your own engine.

People give shit about Unity because it's always a barely working tech demo using free assets.

People give shit about Gamemaker because there are billions of shitty projects all using the same stolen code.

Unreal Engine is a professional tool that requires experience and skill which almost no indie faggot has.

Learn to code some basic shit first, learn how to make your own assets even if they don't look very good, properly learn how the engines work.

Make Undertale 2
Make lotsa monies

Don't get hit.

Need one with a better art direction than that abortion of a game.

...

Stop making pixel shit!

Sleep around to get better reviews, if caught blame a boogeyman.

Big butts

Drop the tumblr nose, it says too much about what you are as a person. Also end yourself

Aesthetics were a pretty big problem. I mean, credit to the dev for sticking to his guns on the matter, but the complaint against the visuals was the first thing to come up, and it's still a big complaint to this day.

pixel shit is what makes the visions of small teams and low budgets possible

Just draw it normally for fucks sake

Make a Waifu.

kys

Yeah, don't fucking use pixel art. It's lazy and unoriginal.

make the squad you control the zombies

Get het blacked.

>that demo that expands on Iron Duchess ending and a new heroine leading humans colonising other dimension
Full game literally never

Go on twitter and act like a cunt

You will gain thousand and thousand of eyeball for no real reason

suck my dick, choke on it?
