There are people on Sup Forums RIGHT NOW that think the FFVIIR games won't sell well because they changed the combat.
>But the combat is what people remember about the game!
No, that's what YOU and a couple internet dwellers remember about the game. The majority of normies these days pretty much just remember the basics of the plot and can recognize Uematsu's OST if heard, and one or two occasionally might remember the fact that Emerald Weapon was "really hard." You really think in an age where games like fucking Uncharted, Kingdom Hearts, Dark Souls/Bloodborne, and nuFallout are some of the biggest titles that real time action is going to put off people that can play a game somewhat similar in nature but with the story and world that blew them away as kids?
C'mon, Sup Forums, I'm not happy about the change either, but you're killing me with this. Maybe if you'd get away from this horrible cesspool of negativity and shit taste, you'd realize that the majority of the games you hate are fucking huge and the reasons you hate them tend to be the reasons people like them.
I never said it won't sell, I said it was going to be shit.
Cameron Hughes
Of course it's going to sell. It's just not going to be good.

FF7R will sell more than the original if anything.

Isaac Ortiz
You expect it to look like lego or someshit?
Wyatt Allen
I actually thought that looked a lot better than what happened in the original. They just sort of surrounded him after cornering him without shooting, which put me off because no trained soldier would hold fire when a terrorist combatant just iced a good number of their buddies while he gives a cocky one liner.
Aaron Reyes
I'll miss the turn-based combat just because I find turn-based games relaxing, but the new combat looks like it will probably be fun.
Jose Myers
>But the combat is what people remember about the game! as a combat fag who only plays FF for the combat and cool monsters: who the fuck ever said that

No trained soldier would fire when his fellow soldiers are all standing around the target in a fucking circle
Hudson Evans
I am only interested in FFXV and FFVIIR because it isn't turn based anymore
Brody Bennett
I'm fine with a 'new' FF7.
I'm not fine with the game's lore getting shit on with Crisis Core and Advent Children garbage.
Kevin Hall
I'm going to buy it.
And if the combat is good, I'll love it. I loved Crisis Core.
But if the combat is as slow and unresponsive as the FFXV Platinum demo, its gonna suck. I have no idea how they could think that would get anyone interested in their game, holy shit.
But movement and things in general in PD are faster than ED. The only legit thing you can complain about is ravage.
Aiden Hall
>slow and unresponsive >FFXV Platinum demo Huh? Did we play the same demo?
Christian Evans
Not gonna lie, I agree. I loved FFVII back in the day but I have a hard time going back to it now. The combat was kind of shit, now that I'm exposed to it again. The materia system's a good idea, but it's kind of weird how they implemented it.
Strangely enough, I never had this problem with Xenogears, and the combat in that game is arguably even more shit. Maybe it's the sprites and emotive character portraits that gave it a bigger JRPG charm that VII lacked, I dunno
Angel Bell
No trained soldier would run open arms yelling "capture him!" at a super soldier holding a giant sword capable of cleaving you in two either.
Nolan Diaz
No turn based, no buy. Literally button mash kingdom hearts faggatory with flashy moves to make normies feel hyped
Turn based means I can plan moves, make broken set ups, and the animations look cooler due to more resources going into it.
None of this matters though because SE sucks at anything that isnt CGI or cutscenes as their non-god teir spell animations nuke all players within 1000 mile radius with a sleep bomb
Jackson Johnson
Looks like the kiddies are awake.
Nolan Morris
>Turn based means I can plan moves
Oh come on. A complete newbie can and will destroy FF7 without using any magic barring thunder in a few early fights and healing. You don't need to plan out shit when your attacks are dealing 9999 damage.
Liam Thomas
>any final fantasy >having to "plan moves" Come on man, yeah some of them were difficult, but that's because you were like 12. Replay them all now and they're all pretty piss easy
Ryan Thomas
It might help that even though the combat was shit, there were two systems it used, so at least you never really had to stick with one the whole time.
Luke Baker
>Turn based means I can plan moves This is FF we're talking about, you don't need to plan anything in 99% of the fights. Especially in FF7.
Nolan Phillips
>plan moves >in FF
Jose Carter
yeah this
Charles Hill
Theres two enemies in the game that require some strategy, Ruby and Emerald Weapon, and they are completely optional.
Getting rid of turn-based combat is no big deal, especially for FF7.
Jonathan Howard
>The materia system's a good idea, but it's kind of weird how they implemented it. The materia system is a weird case of genius idea, wrong genre.
I always felt it'd be more at home in a Dragon Age: Origins-style game where you can pause the battle to change targets, strategies, and attacks/spells used, and resume to fight in real time, but we'll see what they do with it in the remake.
Don't get me wrong, I can see your point if this was a different, more difficult JRPG, but Final Fantasy VII is a fucking cakewalk and you didn't have to plan shit. It's especially fucking easy while you have Aeris with you because she practically makes losing impossible with her limits and she can dish out damage like a madcunt with the right materia.
Samuel Hughes
I want to be in the reddit screencap too! /thread

>Holding onto someone over a cliff while people are trying to shoot at you >Have a conversation instead of pulling him up
Maybe the remake will be better after all.

The thing I hate about FF is the gameplay. FF VII With a gameplay like KH would be 10/10

I guess they hired the 80s stormstroopers.
Jaxon Rodriguez
UE3 was shit, but UE4's fucking magic and easy to develop on.
You know, i don't mind the combat change. But what i do mind is if they are removing shit like pic related.
It's might be emo town in the rotting pizza, but a load of places are pure comfy and deserves to stay in it's original atmosphere and not the edgy for you people fangasmed but never bothered to play because "Durr, i don't like the battle system" and yet gloat the shit out of everything like a fangirl
