Was it really gen 6?

Rip in RIP sweet prince. :'(
simple abstract categorizations aren't really good at describing actual things (cf. featherless biped)
It died just prior to Gen 6 really starting. It's tech was worse than the PS2's, which, in that gen, is really saying something.
It was kind of in its own little gen. It's a wonderful system, though.
... I learned what you are talking about (featherless biped) literally yesterday. That is so funny I should see it in a post.
abortion is different than killing an alive and grown kid
Explain it to someone who doesn't get it.
>Dreamcast was weaker than a PS2
Yes, Sega's entry in the 5th gen was the Saturn.
No Dreamcast game could look as good as God of War.
Ancient Greek philosopher (and neet master) Diogenes learned that Aristotle defined man as a featherless biped. In response diogenes walked into Aristotle's class, held aloft a chicken which he had plucked of all it's feathers, and declared "behold, a man"
Aristotle changed his definition to a featherless biped with broad nails
It literally was by pretty much any technical measure.
>implying it wasn't
>built in modem for netplay
>1GB storage
>high polygon 3d graphics
>digital memory card plugged into controller
yes it was Gen 6
Too think it was the first console with online , I bought one with mvc 2 recently and I really am amazed by how it failed for having that.
>high polygon 3d graphics
I mean, compared to the rest of the 6th gen that's just plain wrong. Dreamcast games are fairly low poly but have comparatively good texturing.
It pretty much was. CPU was outright weaker. DC's GPU had more features (early DC games look a ton better than the PS2 port because of this), but couldn't display nearly as much shit, and you could get a lot of that done in software on the PS2. DC had way less RAM. Sound hardware was better, but with streaming audio off of disc, that doesn't matter.
If Sega released a revision that was more like the NAOMI 2 at some point, it'd floor the PS2 and maybe even the GC (but not the Xbox).
Still looked better than the wobbleststion 2
Technically, the Saturn could do online, but it was so clunky and connections were so bad that no one bought its obscure and expensive peripheral.
Dreamcast online though was a pretty darn nifty thing. Downloading decals for Jet Grind Radio, MMORPGs, and Quake matches.
I got a lot of love for the console even if it didn't really get a chance to get the ball rolling.
>wobblestation
But vertex jitter and texture warping were things the PS1 experienced, not the PS2. Sega Saturn to an extent.
because it was dead before reaching its true potential, not like the ps2
OK, fair enough.
How about this: MGS2 is more technically impressive than any Dreamcast game.
Not really..
does anybody else remember this game?
I wanna play it again.
played through the first time in earnest earlier this year/last year. It was a blast. The "American" camera system (getting rid of the fixed-camera angles RE-style for no reason) turns the game into sort of a gigantic mess, but the game has so much charm that it's hard not to like. The Christmas mall theme/setting is top-tier comedy in itself and Dogs is my hasubando.
This fucking song. I love it.

(along with the rest of the OST)
I remember thinking of this game as garbage shovelware because it was always priced at like half or less of other games. Was it actually good?
If you don't mind an occasionally bad camera, it's a pretty wacky survival """horror""" game. It's tough until you learn how to best exploit melee attacks. You do have to grind for cash to get better weapons.
I enjoyed it though I was sometimes frustrated by the controls.
