I only need 4 hours of sleep to function well enough that I can serve customers at work.
I actually do better with less sleep.
It goes like this:

>less sleep, wake up feeling like top shit, starts to fall off after 5-6 hours, end day feeling utterly exhausted
Generally I either get 4-5 hours of sleep and do a short shift at work and go play vidya until I fall asleep, or I get 10-12 hours of sleep and feel like utter garbage all day and get headaches and all sorts of shit.
I can never balance it.

I wake up and go to bed whenever the fuck I feel like.

sometimes 8 hours, sometimes 12 hours, sometimes 1 hour a day. Sometimes none. I've got 60 hours without sleeping a couple times. Work requires it. Being paid $25 an hour under the table to stay at work is worth all that shit, especially cause it's a load of shit. Maybe if you're 80 years old it'll impair you, but if you're reasonably healthy and at a young-ish age, you'll be fine.

It's not that awful, you just have to know how to counteract the side effects. I used to do fucktons of opiates, now I just drink 10+ cups a coffee a day, and have 3 alarms.
One of my coworkers doesn't sleep all week and doesn't do shit, I don't understand how she's still alive.

The "sourness" from coffee hurts my throat and stomach in ways I can't describe (this coming from a guy who chugs straight vodka everyday) and they have shit all effects on me, 10 cups is going to kill my stomach.

I also can't catch a power nap if I had something important to do within a 2-3 hour period. I wake up with my heart racing and feeling like shit. Almost like my bodies been hyping itself while my mind is trying to sleep lol.
I want to sleep but I have too many problems in my life and always keep thinking of them. My method of sleep is usually letting an episode of a cartoon on and just go by it. It's usually Pokémon or stuff like Family Guy or Simpsons.
And yeah sleep deprivation does fuck your whole system. I have developed visual snow because I skipped entire nights of sleep just to not miss classes. Now I have both visual snow and tinnitus, it's fucking hell on earth and makes me want to kill myself. There isn't a day I don't think about killing myself.
