I just finished playing the first game on a DS emulator, and gameplay wise it was pretty boring. I know nobody plays these for the gameplay but it was really more of a pain than anything else, and by that I don't mean hard, I just mean it was annoying. I kept rushing through them because the visual novel parts were the only thing fun.

Does it get better on the sequel?

Carlos is going to be the best and purest boy, just watch. He will literally never do a single thing wrong.

in VLR you only have to clear puzzle rooms once, then you can jump around for story elements
if you want to get the secret ending, though, you need to 100% the puzzle rooms
