Why don't they make games this good anymore?

Why don't they make games this good anymore?

>what is Planet Robobot

Because these outdated kiddie games are shit, and now the video game industry is just improving, getting better and better each day

I'm a kirby fan, but YI wins by virtue of at least being a little challenging.

...

yoshi's island wasnt that good

Kirby is boring as shit though.

True Arena

best 2D mario.

...

As I found myself playing Kirby I realized the only things I enjoyed other than lore were done better in games like Megaman. I'm all for a Kirby game that's just a tad faster, like KDL2: compare the speed of that game to others.
I 100%'d TD and PR, but I really prefer something a tad more fast.

Never was a fan of Yoshi's Island, the 4 games that came after it not included. What was so much fun about stomping on each pole to find the hidden 'clouds' and 'red coins'?

This doesn't even make sense. Elaborate.

because they don't make money.

it's hardly a mario game

and even if you count it as one, you're still wrong. it's better than smb2 and maybe sunshine and that's it

mario is in it. thus it's a mario game. it beats the shit out of 3, which has fuck awful controls.

64 > 3 > world > YI

because you're a cynical dick with nostalgia glasses.

Wooly World is a decent sequel.

Maybe not *quite* as good, but you are full of shit if you worship one and hate the other.

OW OW OW!

>dat water

I agree wooly world is a great sequel.

Weird how it's not called yoshi's island 2

What is the best way to play the SNES version of YI without a SNES?

I've beaten the game on GBA, but all the VC roms are based on the GBA version.

Emulating SNES platformers on computer is kinda distasteful. Is there good emulation for homebrew'd vWii?

Shut up, infant.

>that final boss
>that hp system
I don't hate it, but ugh. YI1 was so good, and they shit the bed with 2. Wooly was....good. Not great.

>Emulating SNES platformers on computer is kinda distasteful

in what sense?

It's fine on pc with a controller. Otherwise a Wii will run it via emulation and even output 240p which is great if you have a crt

Oldfag games look so weird haha dabbin on 'em!

I think the levels were great
Didn't like looking for Stamps though
The final boss isnt as amazing as YI (but almost nothing is)

Still a quality game.

>decent aka lets hug every wall because, insert buzzword: COLLECTIBLES

Stamps were more fun to find than red coins m8

YI is the the funky shit. It's one of the smoothest, tightest platformers. The controls are A+. Flutter jumping, egg tossing, swallowing enemies, tonguing enemies all feels wonderful. Wonderful graphics. There aren't as many levels as most Mario games but the ones that are there are unique and great.

Wii with a CRT my user.

Like I want to be sitting in a computer chair to play a comfy platformer.

I'm not dismissing its controls or graphics or anything, just that the goal of stomping everypole for 'secrets' in my book doesn't classify as fun gameplay. I wanted more precision based shit. Not stomping.

get a better chair

Although they were shockingly easy, there was a level or 2 where I had to do some serious digging to find those stamps. I think stamps were definitely harder.

>I'm too retarded to plug my computer into a tv

Collecting points isn't necessary to beat the game. You can zip through the levels and have a blast. YI is really well designed for challenging speedy fun.

> hp system

Felt better to me than worrying about babby mario. Also functioned almost exactly the same way as stars did in YI.

The bosses were a disappointment, but damn if they weren't actually challenging when you played the sped-up versions in the boss tent, way harder.

>not sitting in a lazyboy/sofa

>not simply treating your monitor as a tv

>old devs had to hand animate dancing light effects on the water- and recreate them with PIXELS

>they're too lazy to do it now

Is it just me or does creativity die with technology?

>it isn't required
Neither is playing the game. That's not an argument. It was acceptable the first game, but they still haven't really evolved the game beyond the first. Games should evolve.

hivemind.

Because those games no not make good interactive movies

> collectibles are bad

I suppose it was okay in YI though when you had to touch every coin, check for hidden walls and get 20/20 stars for every level.

?
It wasn't okay in WW, the walls were literally random, at least in YI1 you could always tell when a wall would be hollow.

Though collectibles for the sake of collectibles is what WW is.

> literally random

No they weren't. I found most of them on my first play-through through intuition alone.

And again, perhaps you'd like to defend "literally random" red-coin placement in YI?

This game is only amazing because of nostalgia, the games that exist nowadays are honestly much better.
>If you're bothered by my opinion go fuck yourself and get over it.

Your response is nonsense. YI offers fun platforming. The collectibles are a side focus. They're for a score meter. You don't have to score whore to beat a game.

I don't give a shit about what the later games do I'm talking about YI.

I honestly thought I was on /vr/ until I saw this post.
Sup Forumsfags are so easy to spot.

Objectively false. Most platformers fail to be as fun, lack the same mechanical depth and good level design.

Not about to argue, you have your opinion and I have mine. On another note you should try Rayman Legends, it's a decent modern platformer.

>nuh uh
Stopped reading there

Everything is a side course, mr sakurai fuck off

Of course you did, anything to avoid the question.
