What do you guy think of bravely default/bravely second?
What do you guy think of bravely default/bravely second?
Playing at the moment - on Chapter 3 and it seems pretty fun so far. Love the Chomp mini game lol
PHAT
EDEA
BUTT
Felt it was on par with the first game, had a pretty good time with both,
Default had the better story and second had superior pacing
Both are excellent imo. Some of the best JRPG's I've played in a long time.
One of my favorite RPG series.
Right up in there with Xeno and Breath of Fire.
>maxed out my jobs I have so far
>reached level 81
>mfw still on Chapter 1
No way, I refuse to believe you're this autistic
I loved Default, but just can't get into Second
Would rape
Where are you currently at in Second? I wasn't really feeling it at first either, but once it got to a certain part, it grabbed me and would not let go.
Chapter 2
Waiting for fan translation. Is it true they took out a bad end or something in the western version?
>have a full time job
>no time for long cut scenes inbetween breaks
>do nothing level up my characters for the past 2-3 weeks
At the start of Chapter II but point still stands
Sidequests endings, the way to get a good ending in the japanese release is to replay the same sidequest twice and make the same decision which locks you out of getting a job class.
And in order to get the all the classes you had to sacrifice the good endings
Shit user.
This will no doubt sound snarky since we're on Sup Forums and all, but oh well.
I used to do that shit in JRPG's all the time when I was younger. Grind up early and until I was absurdly strong so I could just mow down everything for the rest of the game.
These days though, I tend to make an effort to stay around the recommended/lower level for each boss/area.
On the plus side, at least you will have had the fast forward and auto feature with BD & BS.
Sidequests now hold two asterisks at the end instead of one. There are multiple endings, and to get the player to go down the same branch again, they'd sometimes end the sidequest on a bad note so that when the player went down the same path a second time, they'd be able to get a good ending. They took the bad endings out completely, because I guess they didn't want people getting triggered over having to think about the morality of their choices or whatever.
Kyouko is right in this situation, Yui is a pussy bitch
>They didn't want millennials to think about the consequences of their actions
Good call Nintendo, there'd be riots if they'd left that in.
His whole life was unlimited suffering works.
Magnolia the best
I think they're both pretty great, but I can see how they would turn off a lot of people.
Mixing and matching different classes/skills to find the most synergistic combinations is one of my vidya fetishes.
That isn't why, but keep getting mad at your headcanon.
Okay, I guess your dad works at Nintendo or something? Why'd they get rid of them?
>in Second he's just fucking around on Grandship while the Duchy is at war
>doesn't even give the party access to his airship
I hate this game.
Liked the characters and the plot development until the last chapters, felt like something big was going on and at the end pretty much nothing happens and the final boss just appears out of nowhere, the new jobs are fun if you just ignore the fact that ghost wizards utterly break the game. Job sidequests felt meh to me but it was a nice change to see the past jobmasters getting some character development even if it seemed like game filler at times, like at the ominas sidequest. All that aside, it was pretty fun and the pace was alright.
Weeb shit. That is all.
First half of BD is good then it crashed and burned and made me hate everything about it
So I have a question.
Tiz in the second game alternates between doing Ringabels little shuffle thing at the start of a battle, and his own battle opening pose.
Was this ever explained?
At first I thought Ringabel was the soul trapped inside of him, but that isn't the case.
Both are shit.
lazy animators
I imagine its just supposed to reference that he trained with/looked up to Ringabel. Remember Tiz was(and still is, i fucking hate his character) a nobody. So would make sense for him to imitate others as far as combat and such/time spent with.
>Doing the boss rush in Ch 8
>Barras' Invigorate fails and kills him, Barbarossa, Tiz, and Ringabel
>mfw those two missed out on 999 JP
Edea is cuet, I want her to be my daughter
So what's the title pun with Bravely Second? I played through Bravely Default, so I know the little trick they do with it in that one, but I can't figure out what it would be for the second one. Something Slayer?
Strangely enough, this is one of the few instances where a localization change is actually publicly addressed by the company and can be googled. In short: blame Japanese people, either devs or players, depending on the specific nature of your annoyance.
Send player *
Cant confirm yet, but I recall reading that it's Send Player. Kinda hoping it turns out to be Friend Slayer
What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Just that the spirit thingy in Tiz is you? This series is frustratingly close to being great, but it falls short so many times.
I think it means you need to rely on the send a friend your moves thing, because those are easily exploitable even without real life friends implying all the timelines are helping you
That's not it. Notice the two letters added to "End Layer", that might give you a hint.
The "Tiz's soul is the player" twist from Default is kind of ignored in Bravely Second.
Instead Tiz's soul is given back to him by some random NPC who the game's plot now revolves around.
I liked the music in the first one better.
I beat the second game. Are the bonus dungeons any fun?
For the most part they're incredibly-tedious re-runs where all the bosses they didn't already recycle from the first game show up.
You get to fight the Adventurer again at the end.
exp is pretty meaningless, as you'll get enough exp to level to 100 at least twice when grinding your jobs up
because you'd have to play through the main story 3 times to get all of the asterisks, and another time to see both complete stories
the largest complaint about BD was the endless 8. they get rid of that in BS and now its a bad thing?
I just want to see Edea and Ringabell get an ending together in Bravely Third like how Tiz and Agnes did.
Also, these games do atmosphere and gameplay so well it's not even funny. It makes it hard to go back to other turn based JRPG's.
he had our soul in him in BD, he had Altair's in him in BS. We are both 'celestials' so it works. only difference is is that we didn't talk to Tiz directly in Bravely Default, while in BS Altair was arguably the most important non party character
I just think it messes things up to actually have a character from 'our' world in the narrative, especially when Altair's Celestial Realm is obviously well in our future.
I'm also bitter about the explanation for the Ba'als and the Altair/Vega lovefest in the final dungeon.
I haven't beaten BS, but isn't the reason you can do the same quest over again because of the fact that there's more time looping. Also, if there isn't time looping, you wouldn't have to beat the story 3 times to get all of the asterisks. Just twice. You'd have to do that if you wanted to get the good endings, but if you just care about the asterisks then you'd only have to play it twice in order to get all of the asterisks.
the original of the Ba'als make them even more distrubing and horrific than they already are
it did rub me the wrong way too, how Altair seemed to be hogging the spotlight but everyone got their good ending so I didn't mind.
the real jobber in the story is Anne. When she was looking out over the Dark Chasm and asking herself how the party knew where she was all the time, she really should have known, and been clever enough to lay a trap for the player
there is 1 'loop' in bravely second. the biggest difference is is that most characters are aware of it, including the ones outside your party.
in fact the only ones who don't remember are the BD Asterisk bearers and the Kaiser. Laser Targetted Amnesia for sure
also i just realized this. Denys Genelogia. pronounce his name Denies and you get what he does all the time
I found Tiz a lot more entertaining here than in the first game.
I think it's just the tone.
Ouroborous' motivation is
>I want to murder the gods because I feel inadequate
Compared to
>I captured the soul of a dying woman in despair, and proceeded to make monsters out of her memories to destroy the alternate dimension she likes, all to make her feel guilty about it
The happy ending doesn't feel earned when no-one in the party goes through any personal struggle other than Yew himself. What little development Tiz had in Default is simply tossed aside so he can give advice that doesn't actually relate to his experiences in the prior game, Edea is a parody of herself, and Magnolia's sideplot is resolved by another character without her even doing anything.
I just finished Bravely Default and Bravely Second in succession. I have a void that can't be filled now that I have nothing to play.
I abused Waste Not, Damage Item amp and the money skill spamming Zeus's wrath in the clock tower during Chapter 2
Easily hit 60 and got most of the jobs I had at the time at level 8
>I just finished Bravely Default and Bravely Second in succession. I have a void that can't be filled now that I have nothing to play.
I know that feel.
I've played every great JRPG you'd find on any top 20 list that's worth a damn, and the Bravely games are easily some of the best.
What do I do to tide over for Bravely Third
Go and find me the Sword of the Brave. Only then will i give you Bravely Third
Is there anything you can't cheese with 4 Valks using High Jump with Hasten World active?
I could do with a whole lot less food talk. It really got to be annoying and kind of undercut's Magnolia's character development, by having her try to become the perfect waifu for Yew
Also, it felt like the Ba'al threat was largely ignored to focus on the Kaise at least until the Diamante reveal.
BD was great until the loops. From a story stand point the loops were cool, but they killed the pacing to the point where I admittedly dropped the game.
BS gave me the same game with better gameplay, jobs, and pacing. Even the new characters were great. I really adore Yew. However the story was kinda weak, yet still sweet. Beating this game gave me that post game depression which I had not felt since beating Xenoblade 2 years ago. I need that Bravely triple.
Censored
Final fantasy V can help fill that void but not really
I played half of bravely default and thought it was monotonous and repetitive and that the plot was too thin, childish, and heavy handed to keep me going.
I liked the combat mechanics though.
>childish plot
>Bravely Default
What the fuck am I reading?
why is she so smug
does Bravely Default drop hints at the end that there's going to be a sequel? or is it kind of on its own?
There's a sequel
Luxendarc is home to all the thick youcould ever want
You missed virtually all of the plot.
I want to pierce Airy's boundary, if you catch my drift.
Only if you awaken the crystals first user.
i don't follow
I like both. Second's story is a little weaker I think, but it had a few moments I really loved, and it makes up for it for better pacing gameplay-wise and all the new jobs being pretty great. The new dungeons are generally better than the ones from the first in one way or another too.
Why the fuck can't I find a jap .CIA of Bravely Default anywhere?
Probably because the international release has the JP audio and text too.
But if you want the JP release for no covered up Bravo Bikini be sure to grab For The Sequel and not Flying Fairy.
Chapter 2 is the slowest part of the game.
Chapter 3 is where it starts picking up a bit, then chapter 4 is extremely short and sweet, and after that it's just fun ride to the end.
Yes... I'm speaking to YOU
