>prove 100% beyond the shadow of a doubt that the defendant could not have possibly done it
>the judge still won't declare him Not Guilty until I find the real killer
Prove 100% beyond the shadow of a doubt that the defendant could not have possibly done it
The entire AA series is completely retarded
>The entire AA series is completely retarded
The justice system in japan is completely retarded*
>The prosecutor is caught presenting falsified evidence
>no penalty
>The prosecutor assaults Phoenix and steals a key piece of evidence
>no penalty
HOLD IT!
Do you have any proof that evidence was falsified, Phoenix?
>prosecution withholds evidence until they feel like it
The one in the game doesn't reflect the Japanese one or the American one, it's completely made up.
>defense presents falsified evidence
>disbarred for 7 years
wooooooooooow there was nothing I could do
no its an exaggeration of the Japanese legal system where most cases the prosecution always wins
>the prosecutor is admitted to tell the witness to not discuss certain details
>no penalty
>defense wins nonstop for 3 years, beating the toughest and most well known prosecuters in law history and uncovering numerous scandals
>presents false evidence once on accident
>demonized forever
>demonized forever
IIRC didn't most everyone agree the disbarring was total bullshit? When he came back everyone more or less accepted him with open arms.
>forced to drink himself to sleep every night
>gambles away all his unemployment benefits
>spends the rest of his time playing one song in a bar for 7 years
>the prosecutor assaults people with a whip
>no penalty
I nearly forgot he used his bastard step daughter to cheat at card games too
also gave apollo fake evidence too
>witness was caught in a lie/discrepancy multiple times
>judge and jury still consider the witness reliable
just about done
>defense wins nonstop
Him falsifying evidence once opens the question "has he done this before without being caught?"
Kinda like an athlete on steroids.
>Murderer uses another crime as alibi
PLOT TWIST
Phoenix still got some "Dark Age of the Law" shit in DD. I don't remember what case, just that someone brings up the "can we really trust a guy who presented false evidence?" thing at least once.
>You solve the whole case, how it happened, when it happened, how the murder weapon was used, who did it, tied together every single piece of evidence and everything makes sense
>"you've got a very active imagination but it doesn't matter because you don't have decisive evidence"
>Court allows a 15 year old to prosecute.
But all the murderers admit to it once he catches them.
to be fair phoenix has always been pocketing evidence like a complete madman
it was only time before a killer decided to use that to his advantage
Evidence is everything, faget
>finally gets his attorney's badge back
>first thing he does is defend a literal whale
Oh wow, its almost like its a game and needs some way to artificially inflate the game length and to make it more interesting.
>court allows solving a current crime and one that occurred 15 years ago
I kinda miss hobo Phoenix. He was the best. I wish he could have kept his cool head after coming back, instead or reverting to panicking again every time someone points out a discrepancy
>Phoenix still got some "Dark Age of the Law" shit in DD
Hell, Phoenix is the poster boy for "the Ends justify the Means"
The series instead of naturally progressing with new characters and stories, has decided to bring up a new status quo and hit a new standstill.
Look at it shamelessly bringing Maya for fanservice. And MORE Edgeworth.
Apollo Justice was the right step for the series, but of course since autists don't like change, they had to soft reboot the series back to "trilogy" status.
This. It's a clear case of reversing character development after recovering the status quo.
>Witness testimonies outweigh the evidence
RL sucks.
I could see him panicking in the beginning because he'd been out of it so long.
The whole thing might have been a bit much.
I think it is more that they have zero idea how to write a competant lawyer as the main character. Most of the tension comes from Phoenix/Apollo being bumbling fucks and having to ass-pull.
I don't mind Maya, she's the main sidekick in the first three games, and you do wonder what happened to her during the 7 year gap, but I am getting real tired of Edgeworth. His character arc is pretty much done and hes been in 6 games now. Blackquill may not have been perfect, but he was a nice change.
I think when you're not playing as Phoenix he still sounds like the aloof Hobo Phoenix from AJ
It's when you start to read his internal monologues that you can see that Phoenix mostly has a very good poker face.
He had a cool head because he literally understood everything that was going on. Because he had been working the case for SEVEN YEARS.
Also, he seemed pretty cool talking Athena through finding that teacher's body.
the whole plot about the prosecution slowly moving from a must always win attitude to a trying to reach the truth attitude was interesting in the original trilogy
but after they finished that, there's not much else to do
>tfw I was genuinely interested in seeing Apollo take the reigns as new main character and watching him grow throughout his own trilogy while going more into his back story
>Figure they got the Phoenix shoehorning out of the way in the first game so the next one would be better in that regard
>DD and SOJ are back to phoenix and friends
Maybe because Apollo was a dope and his sidekick was a huge bitch? These games are all about character, and they didn't have it. Mechanically they weren't any worse than the previous games but they're VNs who gives a shit about the game mechanic.
I will say I think the backlash against it is too extreme just because people think that they disgraced Pheonix. But it wasn't that bad, he still stole the show back as soon as he appeared.
>Go to lawschool because of AA
>mfw it's not even remotely like that
>and his sidekick was a huge bitch?
Oh because she wasn't a useless dorky hippie?
>Trucy
>huge bitch
What game did you play
SoJ looks like it's gonna go half and half with Phoenix and Apollo.
I think leaving him in Japanifornia to run the Agency is really gonna help his character.
>huge bitch
I think you are thinking of Ema, she was the detective. Trucy and Maya are basically the same person
Orcas are dolphins
>the Japanese legal system where most cases the prosecution always wins
Yes, but people need to understand why this is, because it's not because of the most apparent reason.
In Japan, most criminal cases aren't even tried on court. Either they are plea bargained out, or, most commonly, charges are dropped completely. Japan has an extreme shortage of state lawyers, and they cannot afford to bring charges against most arrestees. The only cases that are brought to court are cases that the prosecution is nearly 100% sure that they can win, since they have a shortage of manpower. Most cases in Japan are dropped completely. To make matters worse, just like in the games, trials go on and on because both sides are continually breaking in order to try to continue building their case. The thing is, unlike the games were trials last a few days, trials in Japan last years because of these breaks.
tl;dr The conviction rate in Japan is so high because there are not enough prosecutors and only cases where the state is absolutely sure to win are brought to court. The rest either plea bargain or are dropped entirely.
No offense but you'd actually have to be fucking retarded to ever think law school would be anything like Phoenix Wright. It's like saying pilot school sucks because it's not like Ace Combat
I think the series has lost the "charm" it had.
It just feels pretty soulless now. Idk
Just out of interest, where do you guys think the series should've ended?
AAI2
AA3
Gonna go with AAI2.
DD just proved the main team doesn't know what the fuck to do with mainline anymore. The entire game felt like some sort of fanfiction or something. Now with AA6 they're proving every new game must have a new gimmick or new setting to make it interesting and again they don't know what to do anymore.
>SOJ
This and SoJ are such shitty acronyms.
Just call it SJ
>Show evidence that clearly proves the witness is lying
>Doesn't work
>Use it 10 seconds later
>Suddenly it's relevant
