What games succeed in making the player feel lonely? Not necessarily horror games, but ones with such a strong emphasis on being alone that they create an ominous atmosphere.

Also The Forest and Subnautica do a damn good job of making you feel alone.
You have a talking companion, but Transistor was a very lonely game.
The Forest is good in the same vain as Long Dark. You're having to build and hunt for survival and the only living humans you meet what to bash you over the head and eat you.
Darkwood is pretty gud. Also has a feel like you could die at any moment, and cowering in fear at night (mostly the first ones) is horror-comfry.
Half life 2 always had this strange feeling. It was relieving making contact with revels after a long section.

Sometimes in Elite: Dangerous.
You go exploring out past any charted or populated system, skimming fuel from stars as you hunt for... something. You aren't sure what or why.
I hunt for those sweet credits... by scanning farway systems.
