>2010, finally get a graduate job >upgrade PC and buy PS3 & X360 >get excited for new releases >gaming nearly every night >regularly post on gaming forums, have friends on Steam
>2015, make more money >Have game collection that's gathering dust >get older, lose skill >#noskill >#nofriends
How do you get excited about video games? And in unrelated matter, do you have a group of friends you game with? >lo
Jaxson Ward
I don't get excited for video games anymore since all anyone wants to do is tell me how much of a waste they are.
I hide my power level.
Brody Turner
>How do you get excited about video games?
I don't let the jaded "everything sucks" attitude of Sup Forums seep into me. It's probably what got you.
Isaiah Howard
Hmm, but its not even that. I actually enjoy some good and renowned terrible games. Just makes me not think about work.
But I think in my mind I had this whole idea that I'd finish many many games, be social with friends online and whatnot. Instead, I basically sit in my room and play SP because I get destroyed online.
I just spend this whole day learning Civ V when back the day I played Civ 1 to death.
Having said that I've saved some money in the last year being more patient.
Andrew Perry
You've worked just long enough that you've now become cucked to the wageslave life. Your entire being is now entirely focused on work, sleep and future death.
Life will never be good again, welcome to the beginning of the decline of your life, bro.
Ian Nelson
This is true, I changed my job for a better lifestyle and now I'm consumed by it all. I actually felt guilty for taking a day off because I was sick.
At least it came to good use. Trying to learn Civ V again in time for Civ IV.
Aiden Watson
Used to play a bunch back in school. Now it's about once a week. Not that I really mind since there are other shit I'd rather do. Like shitpost on Sup Forums.
I only play some of the big AAA releases, and some other stuff if it gets critically acclaimed from sources I trust. Also try to get through a couple of old classics every year. And my yearly replay of Morrowind. But almost never play competitive and usually only play for muh story
Have one friend back in my home town with similar taste as mine, so we like to co-op interesting titles. We got through Serious Sam: BFE 2 days ago, and that game was fucking amazing and I can't believe I hadn't played it earlier.
Jackson Scott
>get older, lose skill
So it´s not just me
Jack Russell
I might as well leave my mark in the world and commission as much porn as I can get. I'd rather be known for providing just one guy a quality fap than being a nameless, faceless worker drone.
Aaron Kelly
>Play 12 hours a day in your teens >Play 12 hours a month in your wagecuck adult years
Not really shocking that this happens
Parker Peterson
How do you like the change. I have a pretty good job that pays a lot and I've been there over three years but it sucks and I work almost 50 hours a week. I want to quit and do something that will give me more time and won't be as stressful. I won't be able to make as much money at a different job though.
I don't know what to do. Part of me says just gut it out a few more years since the people are nice enough and earn a decent paycheck.
Sometimes we aren't capable of knowing the right thing to do.
Levi Miller
>but it sucks and I work almost 50 hours a week
How does it feel knowing you're working a good 25% hours longer than your fathers generation did and have a substantially lower chance of home ownership, lower general savings and far less spending capabilities?
Jaxson Lee
Well, I had to move out of town for my old job. It was great, but I knew the end was coming (downsizing). Decided to move closer to my home city, primarily for the experience I wanted.
However the company I joined is extremely jew in money and is understaffed.
I try to make the most of my free time - gaming and hitting the gym. I get home and stare at my shelf of games I've purchased (and my Steam library) disappointed that I can't finish many of them because I have zero motivation.
Caleb Green
Dude we can suck at games together if you want, I am 30 too come join me
Cooper Gomez
> 2012, working part time retail and poor > get a credit card > build a mid-range PC for gamez > excited for new releases > play modded Skyrim for over 500 hours > play other things whenever I want > always single player > loving life
> 2016, final year of degree > full time graduate job > making decent money > PS4 and 2012 PC > have gaming friends > we always talk about new releases > always too much work on to play vidya > listen to freinds talk about Witcher, Division, Overwatch, Titanfall, Destiny, Smite, ARK, Forest > life is slow suffocation Soon I'll be able to join them...
Tyler Harris
Is this going to be one of those threads? I havn't got to shitpost enough about life lately.
I'm neet and have no drive to play any video game, watch tv or play any sports. All I want is a full time job and I know things just get worse from there, especially considering I know i'll be earning wageslave tier pay.
Kayden Reyes
Not so fast user.
Job market sucks shit. I have a BS in Chemistry and I've been working temp jobs because thats all thats available. You won't be able to afford vidya when you're paying off your student loans with what little money you get from whatever terrible job you get.
Grayson Roberts
Fucking same OP.
>kid with loads of free time and no money >adult with loads of money but no free time
I'm a software dev and I'm fucking shattered at the end of a work day.
At least we can retire in 65 years though?
Julian Price
>At least we can retire in 65 years though?
Are you a sperm?
Connor Brooks
Hold up, bitter queen
I already have a job in the finance sector with a three year contract lined up after my studies have finished. Plus the government pays for my degree, so I only pay it back through incurred tax.
Sorry things aren't working out for you
Nolan Roberts
From UK
Retirement ages keeps going up and up.
I overexaggerated a bit but by the time I can retire it might not be a batshit crazy estimate.
Ryder Martinez
But what about when the jaded "everything sucks attitude" is simply a result of observing that everything does indeed suck?
Bentley Wright
>finally get a good job as a soft eng >don't even work the whole year >have ~$5000 I'm not using cause job >buy hundreds of games and build a good gaming PC >even get a VR headset >bored within a few weeks >binge YouTube vids >mfw What happened? When I was a kid a game would have my attention for months on end?
Andrew Bell
Hivemind status achieved, congratulations.
Asher Gray
You should pay some doctor to give you stimulants user.
Jeremiah Collins
>But what about when the jaded "everything sucks attitude" is simply a result of observing that everything does indeed suck?
It's times like this when I realize that people really don't understand the context or the reality of jaded people and just internalize their own interpretation of it to satisfy whatever proverbial curiosities they may have about the term. Jaded doesn't mean inept, jaded is by definition a problem with strife and contesting content.
Isaac Ward
Bulverism status achieved, congratulations.
Luis Peterson
>go to store to buy game >pick random game, kind of excited to play >get home, dont even take it out of case, dont want to play anymore >download game >finish install >get into menu, no longer want to play
I keep telling myself things will get better when I get a job but every indication on this website tells me otherwise. Is there no escape from this existential crisis?
Luis Russell
find a gf and move in with your dad
Liam Martinez
>tfw have become progressively more normie and now only play casual shitter games like BF4, CS:GO and Rocket League
It's called growing up famalam
Jonathan Collins
.....my son's wife? I guess that's a unique twist
Carson Wood
I don't even play video games any more. I grew out of them. They're fucking boring. I just come here for off topic threads.
Adrian Brown
OP here. I can relate to this feel. You have more excitement about ownership of the game than the game itself. You get excited that you've saved those dollars and made a transaction. Once you actually start playing then you question if you should have ever made the transaction to begin with.
Matthew Lopez
No, I meant get a gf and move in with your father. That's literally the end-all be-all of cooperation on Sup Forums, "settle it with your father and you're a real man."
Blake Cooper
You got too much shit within a short time. There's so much that you can't get committed to one game enough to really sit down and enjoy it.
Logan Howard
It's time to contemplate having kids and seeing them playing vidya, user.
Levi Johnson
>You can finally be the one to ask "what 'cha playin', son?", "are ya winnin', son?"
Nicholas Gray
Video games are for children desu. Sure, it's a good passtime, but as a primary hobby they get unfulfilling and boring as you get older and older.
