Star Fox was always a terribly overrated series. It really should never have been a series. They hit pay dirt with 64 because it had the horsepower to give shape to what they were trying to do on SNES in the original, but it should have stopped there.

I dunno much about FFXV, but it sounds a lot like development is troubled. Its out in a few months and they're constantly changing shit, just released a demo with horrible frame rate/resolution (including an area lifted straight from the game, with one character, and limited magic use)

For me the Gamecube was the first Nintendo console I needed to supplement with a second console (PS2). Then a XB360 to go with the Wii, and probably a PS4 to go with my Wii U. I actually own more Wii games than PS2 and XB360 games combined, and I love my Wii U, but the GCN marked the beginning of a lacking library, especially if you're a fan of genres that just can't be had on Nintendo hardware.
The N64 was a blunder too but at least it carried the generation for me.
This is why I have a modded 5.3.2 Wii U. So I can try before I buy.

At the moment, Nintendo are good for platformers, the occasional above standard action or JRPG game, and Mario Kart. That's fine, but sometimes you just need something a little different. I got Arkham Origins on WiiU just because the collection I had lacked anything I could play for more than an hour at a time, and more than once. You know how Nintendo just took their first leap with multiplayer TPS with Splatoon? They need to do the same with cinematic games

Yep. It's like they didn't even try to mix it up at all. At least in 64 you DID have the option of taking the All Sectors/Arwing Only route, and the boss fights were generally mostly on rails with a few All Range ones sprinkled in for flavor.
They literally didn't need to touch 64's formula and just reskin it with pretty graphics, some updated music, a few boss revisits (like the carrier) with some new boss fights added in.
I mean, shit, how many of the bosses in SNES Fox and 64 had some sort of interesting gimmick? It really shouldn't have been that fucking hard to come up with new ones without relying on that retarded gyro shit or walker.
I said the same thing about Command when I first got it. All THAT needed to be was a a reskinned/retooled version of Starfox 2, since it borrowed heavily from it anyways, and we got some faggoty stylus shit and barrel rolling into UFOs.
Nevermind the fact that they decided to do some updated tracks from 64 instead of the objectively fucking awesome soundtrack that SNES had. Seriously, I dont know if they fired the composer after Starfox 2 got canceled, but the music hasn't been that great ever since.
